Chapter 1557: The Land of Exile

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 935 words

In the face of the Bewitching God Puppet, these two didn't stand a chance. They were dragged before Jiang Chen like limp, lifeless dogs.

If Jiang Chen hadn't ordered the Bewitching God Puppet to hold back, these two would have long since dissolved into two puddles of blood.

The skinny one lay prostrate on the ground, begging relentlessly: "Young Master, Young Master, I was blind and foolish—I didn't know the Young Master possessed such Divine Ability and offended you. I deserve to die, I deserve to die!"

This skinny fellow clearly had no backbone to speak of. He didn't even entertain the slightest notion of resistance. Instead, he knelt on the ground with utmost eagerness, practically groveling. His pathetic display was so shameless that he might as well have crawled forward to lick Jiang Chen's boots.

Seeing such a wretched display, Jiang Chen felt nothing but disgust. This sort of person was ferocious as a wolf when things went his way, but the moment he met defeat, he rolled over and played dead.

With someone like this, there was absolutely no room for pity.

The iron-tower of a man, on the other hand, erupted in a roar: "Monkey Third, have you got any dignity at all? Damn it all, you've thrown away every last shred of my face!"

But the skinny one couldn't have cared less. He simply continued to whimper: "Young Master, don't listen to that fool's nonsense. He's all brawn and no brain."

Although the iron-tower man was supposed to be the boss, the skinny fellow didn't care one bit about hierarchy at this point and openly badmouthed his own leader.

This only sent the big man into greater fury: "Monkey Third, is this all you're good for? I must have been truly blind—how did I ever end up calling a piece of trash like you a brother?"

"Tch, and you think I considered you a brother? With that pea-sized brain of yours, you're fit to be my boss? If anyone's going to be Monkey Third's leader, they'd need to be someone like this Young Master here—graceful as a jade tree in the wind, handsome and dashing, clearly a dragon among men destined to soar through the heavens. Young Master, what do you think of me? I'm skilled in playing, singing, and performing—there's nothing I can't do. Or if you'd prefer, just take pity on this lowly one and keep me as a dog at your side. Look, I can even bark... Woof woof woof!"

Jiang Chen was rendered utterly speechless.

This was his first time arriving at the Myriad Abyss Island, and the very first people he encountered turned out to be this extraordinary. He had never met anyone this shameless, not even across the entire human territories.

He had seen plenty of cowards who clung to life and feared death. But no matter how cowardly they were, none had ever been this spectacularly pathetic.

This man had practically shattered Jiang Chen's understanding of what it meant to be shameless.

"Shut up," Jiang Chen said, genuinely unable to tolerate any more.

The skinny one immediately clamped his mouth shut, his face practically radiating an obsequious grin.

"You want to live?" Jiang Chen asked, his tone cold and detached.

"Yes, yes! The Young Master is wise!" The skinny fellow lit up with joy—at long last, his words seemed to be having some effect.

"That depends on whether you're worth sparing."

"I'm definitely worth it, absolutely! I, Monkey Third, may not be some big shot here on Dongyan Island, but when it comes to handling small, delicate matters—running errands for the Young Master—I'm the perfect fit."

"I don't keep dogs," Jiang Chen refused bluntly. "Enough. Stop blabbering. Let me ask you—what exactly is this Dongyan Island?"

The skinny one froze. "You... you don't know about Dongyan Island? Then how did you end up here?"

Jiang Chen replied impatiently, "Am I asking you, or are you asking me?"

The skinny fellow's entire body shuddered, and he hastily said: "You're asking me! I'll talk, I'll talk. Dongyan Island is a place where the Huichun Island Domain sends its exiled criminals. It's a land of death—utterly hopeless."

"What?" Jiang Chen's jaw nearly hit the floor. Was his luck really this absurd? A single teleportation, and he'd been deposited straight into a death row exile zone?

What kind of mess was this?

Jiang Chen suddenly didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

The skinny fellow was visibly surprised by Jiang Chen's reaction. To arrive on Dongyan Island without even knowing what kind of place it was—who on earth was this young noble?

Behind those shifty eyes, the skinny man was already calculating who Jiang Chen might be.

"The Huichun Island Domain—what exactly is that? Is it one of the islands in the Myriad Abyss Island? Does it rank among the notable ones?" Jiang Chen genuinely knew far too little about the Myriad Abyss Island.

The skinny fellow grew increasingly bewildered. Not knowing about Dongyan Island was one thing, but not even knowing the Huichun Island Domain? Just who was this young lord?

Judging by his attire and bearing, he certainly didn't look like some backwater bumpkin from a minor clan. So how could he not even know the Huichun Island Domain?

Still, the skinny man was wary of Jiang Chen and knew better than to pry too deeply. He forcibly swallowed his curiosity and explained: "The Huichun Island Domain is a second-rate to third-rate power within the Myriad Abyss Island. It doesn't qualify among the Thirty-Six Great Island Domains, let alone compare to the Ten Great Divine Nations."
