Naturally, Jiang Chen wasn't particularly enthusiastic about these texts. His own memories from his previous life were a vast treasure trove of martial dao scriptures, with a depth and breadth that dwarfed this collection by ten thousand fold.
However, as far as the Human Domain was concerned, these martial dao texts rightfully belonged to the human race. Jiang Chen felt it was his duty to pass them on to the Human Domain once more.
Jiang Chen leafed through the texts, forming a rough impression of what they contained.
He continued sorting through Shu Wanqing's Storage Ring. The remaining items were all decent enough, but practically nothing among them was of any use to him.
Just when Jiang Chen figured he was nearly finished and ready to wrap up, his gaze swept across a corner and caught sight of a small box tucked away in a crevice.
"Hmm?" Why hide something in a gap like this?
His curiosity was piqued. He had thought the inventory was done, yet here was this box concealed in a corner he hadn't noticed before.
Jiang Chen picked it up, but he didn't rush to open it. Instead, he set it at a distance, raised his hand, and flicked a small projectile at the latch. The latch sprang open with a soft click.
Once the latch released, the box lid rose of its own accord.
There was no danger as Jiang Chen had anticipated. He activated his Heavenly Eye Divine Pupil and probed from afar. After confirming there was no threat whatsoever, he walked over.
The box's interior was exquisitely crafted, clearly indicative of great value.
Inside, there were three compartments.
Each compartment held a small object that resembled a pill. The moment Jiang Chen laid eyes on them, his heart skipped a beat — they were strikingly familiar.
"Martial Dao Relics?" Jiang Chen could hardly believe what he was seeing.
They truly were Martial Dao Relics, identical in style to the Mingtuo Relic he had just refined. The only difference was that these three Martial Dao Relics were clearly of a higher tier.
This took Jiang Chen slightly by surprise. Without question, all three Martial Dao Relics were of the Emperor realm.
"Where did old man Shu get Emperor-realm Martial Dao Relics?" Questions churned in Jiang Chen's mind. For someone like Shu Wanqing, Emperor-realm relics would have been completely useless — but old man Shu had been born with a collector's obsession. He would accept anything of value, no questions asked.
Still, managing to collect three Martial Dao Relics, all of Emperor realm, was genuinely surprising to Jiang Chen.
After all, Martial Dao Relics were extraordinarily rare. Most martial dao powerhouses, when their lifespan drew near its end, clung to the hope that some miracle would appear.
Not everyone had the courage to abandon that hope and refine the essence of their lifetime's cultivation into a Martial Dao Relic. It simply wasn't something most people could bring themselves to do.
And even if they had the courage, without the proper secret technique, it would be futile.
"Haha, why do I suddenly feel like old man Shu isn't quite so detestable anymore?" Jiang Chen gazed at the Martial Dao Relics and, for a moment, that universally reviled old face of Shu Wanqing didn't seem quite so loathsome.
Reaching the final stage of the inventory and finding such a windfall was a genuine delight for Jiang Chen.
These Emperor-realm relics were a tremendous boon to him — the kind of boon he could actually put to use.
"With these Emperor-realm relics, when I break through to the Emperor realm one day, I won't have to linger there for long. Martial Dao Relics can't catapult me straight to the peak of the Emperor realm or let me charge at the Celestial realm directly. But they can drastically shorten my time in the Emperor realm, pushing my assault on the Celestial realm forward considerably."
Jiang Chen's heart surged. For the first time, he felt that this life was truly extraordinary, truly worth looking forward to.
He also felt that he had taken one more step closer to touching the myriad worlds.
Once he entered the Celestial realm, it would mean he had grasped the very edge of those worlds. At that thought, Jiang Chen could barely contain himself.
Even though he had already reincarnated on the Myriad Continent for so many years, the memories of a million years from his past life had not faded from his consciousness at all — if anything, they were growing clearer, more urgent with each passing day.
The family, friends, and fellow disciples of this life — Jiang Chen cherished them deeply. But in the depths of his heart, he still preserved the bond between father and son from his previous existence.
That was a bond that could never be replaced.
"Father, wait for me. You were the Sovereign of the Primordial Heavens — even if the myriad worlds were shattered, you could not possibly have perished. I don't know whether my reincarnation was your doing. But I know that in my past life, with my Primordial Yin physique, I was able to survive for a million years and hold on to so many precious memories, all because you sacrificed your own fortune to refine the Sun and Moon Divine Pill and extend my life…"
"Father, wait for me!"
Jiang Chen's will was ironclad. In that moment, the chain seal within his sea of consciousness — that seal that had taken the form of water-droplet-like rings — seemed to resonate with his resolve. Like tears falling one by one, droplets of luminous, crystal-clear liquid seeped from the seal, each drop radiant as an ancient star, as though containing incomprehensible power of heaven and earth.
A full-body shudder ran through Jiang Chen.
"What's going on? This chain seal is responding to my will?" His whole body trembled, and his excitement grew even more intense.
"It must be — it must be Father's consciousness, sealed within my sea of consciousness! This seal must contain Father's sovereign will! This droplet-like liquid… so rich and pure, comparable to the power of the myriad worlds…"
