Sorry for the somewhat short chapter — it's a natural stopping point!
"You did it, Boss."
Finishing the Chant, activating the magic.
Upon Chrono's return, Laplace is the first to greet him with a joyful cry.
Taking another look at Chrono now that the magic has been activated.
In terms of appearance and within the range Laplace can perceive, there are three major changes.
The first is magic power. The amount of magic power he is enveloped in is on an entirely different level from before, and qualitatively it too draws a clear line — vast yet serene, something that feels close to the final state Karma had when Ermes and the others faced him before. Magic power that feels as if it belongs to a dimension above where they currently stand, that compels unconditional awe — truly something that could be called divine authority.
The other is an obvious change in appearance.
Ancient magical tool —
Estia Magna, having opened from the inside through the Chant, disintegrates alongside a cascade of characters and flies around Chrono's left arm.
The atmosphere radiating from Chrono has become so alien that Laplace can't help but ask.
"Your body — is it okay? You're still alive, right? Well, I mean, if you told me that a magic capable of creating the world killed you once and then brought you back to life with its power, I wouldn't be surprised."
"Sorry to disappoint, but this magic can't do that much. Your understanding of the magic's scale is correct in principle, but our specialties differ. Matters concerning 'Life' are"
the Third Genesis Magic's"
domain. After all, this is only one-seventh of it — there are things it naturally cannot do."
At Laplace's nod — "That so?" — Chrono continues.
"The Sixth Genesis Magic is a magic that governs 'Power.' It is the literal '"
the Grand One,'
' and nothing more — that's all it is. So right now, I'm properly alive, no different from any of you."
Speaking of his own magic, even he couldn't help but carry a faint hint of excitement as he spoke.
"As you know, this magic doesn't possess any special effect that would immediately reveal 'this has surpassed the realm of humanity,' like the other Genesis Magics."
"—
And yet
it's included
in the magic
that created
the world.
Turn it on its head, and that means within the range where its 'power' extends, virtually anything a human is capable of becomes possible to the extreme. I've heard it so many times my ears are calloused, but if it can actually pull that off, nothing would be better."
Indeed.
The Sixth Genesis Magic, unlike the other Genesis Magics, clearly could not wield anything that might be called a "work of God."
And yet — the reason they were convinced the moment they activated it that they had already won was because the very concept of "Genesis Magic" stood in a completely different league from all other magics, to a degree that made such distinctions entirely irrelevant.
And — the "Ruin" plan from the moment of activation was firmly established in their minds as well.
True to that plan.
"So, it's your turn, Trachea."
Laplace turned his gaze behind him, still wearing that grin, his voice taking on a savage edge.
"This is the moment where the purpose of recruiting you bears fruit. Combine the Boss's magic with yours, and the ultimate ruin becomes possible. So, just as planned — use your magic to—"
Laplace and Crono's plan.
What the "ultimate ruin" would look like — the culmination of everything they had pursued for twenty long years.
Addressing the magic wielder who had become the final piece of that grand design, he spoke these words.
—
In this Royal Capital,
,
all of the
dead
as vengeful spirits
resurrect them
.
For starters, let's turn this place into a kingdom of the dead."
What would happen if the "dead" from a place where discrimination had been as savage as in the Yustia Kingdom were to be resurrected?
Next time, look forward to it!
