Chapter Three, Section Sixteen of the Legends of Ren Zu states:
The third son born to the Human Ancestor, Bei Ming Bing Po, was accidentally revived by a Gu and ended up stranded outside. He met Gu Yue Yin Huang and gave his second elder sister a new meaning in life.
Afterwards, under the guidance of Wisdom Gu, the brother and sister traveled together to the Blue Sea, seeking the Life Gem that could revive their father, the Human Ancestor.
As a result, Gu Yue Yin Huang perceived the secret of life and voluntarily sacrificed herself, reverting into a fragmentary Life Gem.
Bei Ming Bing Po carried the Life Gem, attempting to return to his father's side and revive the Human Ancestor.
But entering the Gate of Life and Death was extremely difficult for him.
The Gate of Life and Death has two paths: one is the path of life, and the other is the path of death. On either path, there are numerous Misfortune Gu.
To overcome the interference of Misfortune Gu and delve deeper into the Gate of Life and Death, one needs the help of Courage Gu.
However, Courage Gu had already been taken inside by the Human Ancestor and was on his person at that moment. Bei Ming Bing Po had no courage, could not enter the Gate of Life and Death, and was momentarily at a loss. He could only resort to wandering, seeking a solution.
He crossed high mountains, waded through flowing waters, fled from the pursuit of wild beasts, and endured hunger and cold in the bitter weather, suffering greatly.
Bei Ming Bing Po's heart was filled with deep guilt and anxiety.
His guilt stemmed from the meaning of life he had given to Gu Yue Yin Huang, which ultimately led to her sacrificing herself and transforming into the Life Gem. He was practically the murderer of his second elder sister.
His anxiety came from the fact that although he had the Life Gem, he could not return to his father's side. He feared that if time dragged on, his father's soul would scatter in the Luopo Valley, and Gu Yue Yin Huang's sacrifice would be in vain.
He walked and walked. The purple sky above him slowly faded and turned black.
It turned out that the Nine Heavens of the Primordial Era — White, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, Purple, and Black — alternated with each other. Every so often, one of these heavens would cover the Five Regions.
Moreover, in the Primordial Era, the sky was connected to the ground.
Heaven and earth intersected, allowing people to walk from the ground up to the heavens, or descend from the heavens to the ground.
Bei Ming Bing Po wandered aimlessly, and before he knew it, he had left the ground and walked deep into the Black Heaven.
The Black Heaven was pitch dark, but not dead. A vast number of lifeforms lived there.
Lost in the darkness and unable to find his way back, Bei Ming Bing Po grew even more anxious, fearful, and confused.
He walked on and on without recognizing directions. He stumbled and fell countless times. Suddenly, he saw a ball of flame ahead of him.
This was the only light in the entire Black Heaven.
Overjoyed, Bei Ming Bing Po quickly walked towards the flame.
Approaching it, he found that it was actually a Gu.
Curious, Bei Ming Bing Po asked, "What kind of Gu are you, to be able to emit light in the Black Heaven? Please help me. I want to leave the Black Heaven and return to the ground. I have a very important matter to attend to."
The Gu's voice was very weak. It said to Bei Ming Bing Po, "My name is Fire. Who are you?"
Bei Ming Bing Po replied, "I am a human. My name is Bei Ming Bing Po. Can you help me? With your light, I can see the path clearly and return to the ground."
The Gu sighed and said, "So you are a human. I have heard of a great human by the name of Tai Ri Yang Mang."
It turned out that Tai Ri Yang Mang possessed Fame Gu, and his fame spread far and wide across the world. Hardly anyone did not know of him.
Bei Ming Bing Po said happily, "Yes, yes, Tai Ri Yang Mang is my elder brother."
Fire Gu spoke again, "I can help you. But before I help you, you must help me. I am very hungry, dying of starvation. Please find me some food."
Bei Ming Bing Po asked, "Fire Gu, what do you eat? It's so pitch black everywhere. How can I accurately find what you need?"
Fire Gu said, "I am one of the least picky Gu insects in the world. I eat almost everything. Whatever you feed me, I'll eat."
Bei Ming Bing Po groped around, picked up some branches, and threw them to Fire Gu.
After Fire Gu ate them, it immediately brightened up, radiating more warmth. It grew in size from the size of a fist to the size of a washbasin.
It was very happy. "Can you give me a bit more to eat?"
Bei Ming Bing Po replied with an "Oh," groped around again, picked up a pile of stones, and threw them to Fire Gu.
After Fire Gu ate for a while, it sighed and said, "Ah, I was so famished that my teeth have gone bad. The things I could gnaw on before, I can't now. Bring me something easy to digest."
Bei Ming Bing Po thought for a moment and said, "How about this, Fire Gu? You follow me and light my way. If you see anything you like to eat along the way, I'll feed it to you. What do you think?"
Fire Gu agreed, then shrank into a small ball and let Bei Ming Bing Po hold it in his hands.
And so, Bei Ming Bing Po began his journey home, feeding Fire Gu everything he encountered on the road.
After many such feedings, Fire Gu grew larger and larger.
One day, Bei Ming Bing Po stopped to rest. Fire Gu was eating branches in front of him, swaying gracefully.
Suddenly, the sound of countless footsteps came from afar. Bei Ming Bing Po looked up and saw a great crowd of trees, their shadows flickering in the firelight, running towards him.
Not just trees, but countless wild beasts and swarms of insects as well.
Terrified, Bei Ming Bing Po grabbed Fire Gu and ran.
The trees, beasts, and insects behind him gave chase. Wherever Bei Ming Bing Po ran, his pursuers followed.
The pursuers shouted, "Hey, you up ahead! Stop running!"
