Reverend Insanity · Chapter 2112

[[[lang:en]] Goal Accomplished!

January 17, 2020 · 3 min read · 630 words

The modest goal I had dared to set before — I've finally achieved it!

This month I maintained a daily update schedule without missing a single day. Consistent, steady releases.

It was difficult.

There were several times when I nearly couldn't hold on. Life is made up of countless facets, and all of them compete for your energy and time. It's simply impossible to write with the same all-consuming focus you had as a student pouring everything into studying. I'm an adult now, and the adult world is filled with something called — it's not easy.

On top of that, the upcoming chapters of "Legend of the Human Ancestor" have truly drained an enormous amount of my mental energy and brainpower.

Next month, a brand-new arc of "Legend of the Human Ancestor" will meet you all.

The closer "Legend of the Human Ancestor" gets to its later stages, the harder it becomes — the difficulty practically doubles. Because once a certain image or concept has appeared in previous chapters, it essentially can't be used again.

Being able to conceptualize "Legend of the Human Ancestor" while simultaneously meeting the daily-update goal — looking back on it now, I honestly feel somewhat lucky.

Fortunately, I persevered, and I truly pulled it off.

The pressure was absolutely immense!

For more than half the month, I was going to sleep after midnight. There were many days — especially this past week — where I was brainstorming until three or four in the morning.

Six and a half million characters of main story, and it needs a proper ending, so many plot holes to fill, so many threads to tie together. But this month, quite a few have already been filled, and several storylines are converging.

The greater share of my energy has gone into "Legend of the Human Ancestor." Sometimes my heart would race with anxiety, because there's no reference material to look up for "Legend of the Human Ancestor." Most of the time, studying doesn't yield obvious results. Many times, what breaks through a mental barrier is simply one of my own ideas, or something I learned ten or fifteen days ago, or a random sentence I happened to read just moments before.

The main story is something I can control. "Legend of the Human Ancestor" is not. The unease this brings creates enormous psychological pressure. Many nights I would lie down early, wanting to sleep, close my eyes — and simply could not fall asleep no matter what. So I'd get back up and keep brainstorming.

I'd think until my body and mind were completely exhausted, then throw myself onto the bed, and only then could I finally drift off.

The results are obvious.

The quality of this month's updates is something I'm fairly satisfied with. Whether it's narrative structure or the depiction of subplots, I managed to attend to all of it. In particular, the quality of my chapter-ending hooks has improved noticeably.

I've also managed to conceptualize a new arc for "Legend of the Human Ancestor."

Early in October, there should be a grand spectacle taking place at the Mad Demon Hollow. The early-stage plot has already been brewing for the most part.

One last appeal:

I hope you, dear readers, will do your best to support "Reverend Insanity" through official channels, and read through legitimate platforms whenever possible.

A single chapter — I spend at least half an hour brainstorming it, and several hours writing. But for you readers, it might take less than ten minutes to read, and the cost is only a few cents. Many of the Qidian coins are even gifted for free.

"Reverend Insanity" won't be updating for much longer. I sincerely hope everyone can support the official release to the best of their ability!
