If the Eastern Sea Gu Immortals wanted to continue with their previous plan, they first had to crack Heavenly Court's methods. Otherwise, it would be far too dangerous.
Shen Congsheng gazed up at the White Day, secretly recalling the intelligence Fang Yuan had given him. He spoke up: "Breaking through Heavenly Court's methods isn't impossible. Heavenly Court has deliberately deployed a large number of stars throughout the White Day. Through these stars, they relay and transport Gu Immortals to any location across Central Continent."
The other Gu Immortals' eyes lit up upon hearing this.
"Then let's destroy those stars."
"But if we attack the White Day, won't we be provoking Heavenly Court directly? What if Heavenly Court's main force besieges us again? What do we do then?"
Some Gu Immortals wavered with hesitation.
Granny Rong spoke in her unhurried manner: "There is indeed such a risk."
Zhang Yin laughed coldly: "What is there to fear? If we can't win, can't we just flee? As long as we stay alert and don't let Heavenly Court deploy a battlefield killer move, what could they do if it turns into a chase?"
"Haha, Immortal Zhang Yin speaks reason." Yang Zihe raised an eyebrow and clapped his hands with a grin. "The situation across Central Continent is already ablaze on all fronts. Di Cang Sheng has been released as well. We've already provoked what needed to be provoked with Heavenly Court. What is there left to hesitate about?"
Shi Miao appeared lost in thought. "Heavenly Court must be spread thin right now. If they weren't, why wouldn't they have come to support in time? They let us set Di Cang Sheng free without lifting a finger."
Song Qiyuan nodded. "Heavenly Court can barely handle itself. The Southern Border Gu Immortals seem to have found the Invincible Blessed Land and are launching a fierce assault on its grand formation, tying down Heavenly Court's main force. The Western Desert immortals are advancing toward Emperor City. We haven't spotted any Northern Plains Gu Immortals yet, but those brutes will certainly come join the fun. And now with Di Cang Sheng on top of that... in my view, Heavenly Court can hardly spare any attention for us."
And so, the Eight Immortals of the Eastern Sea reached a unanimous decision once more. They would act in concert and advance toward the White Day.
They had no idea that Eternal Life's forces had already engaged Heavenly Court in fierce battle within.
As for Emperor City, there was nothing worth seizing there for them. The Invincible Blessed Land was quite tempting, but it already housed the Southern Border Gu Immortals and Heavenly Court's main force. It was best not to get involved.
Heavenly Court.
Fairy Zi Wei sat commanding the central hall, the latest streams of intelligence flowing into her mind.
The Eastern Sea Gu Immortals advancing toward the White Day — their intent was obvious. They meant to destroy the stars Heavenly Court had previously deployed.
But that was of no consequence.
When those stars had first been set in place, Heavenly Court had anticipated this possibility. Fairy Zi Wei chose to let it go unchecked.
The stars were scattered far and wide, separated by great distances. The Eastern Sea Gu Immortals would need considerable time to destroy them all.
In other words, Heavenly Court had used nothing but star-grade immortal materials to tie down eight Eighth Transformation Gu Immortals. This was a deal that could only turn a profit, and Fairy Zi Wei was quite content to see it play out that way.
After all, given Qin Song's condition, the large-scale Star Projection method could be used at most four more times. Before the Eastern Sea immortals finished destroying all the stars scattered across the sky, those four uses would certainly be expended.
What worried Fairy Zi Wei was Di Cang Sheng.
Di Cang Sheng's escape, frankly speaking, was not what truly made Fairy Zi Wei anxious.
What worried her was the extremely abnormal behavior he displayed after breaking free. He no longer rampaged wildly or slaughtered indiscriminately. Instead, he flew off with composed clarity of mind.
This was very different from the historical records.
"Could it have been subdued by the Dragon Palace?" The thought inevitably surfaced in Fairy Zi Wei's mind.
This was, in fact, easy to deduce. First, Heavenly Court's records were thoroughly detailed — the Dragon Palace itself was a Slave Path Gu Immortal house, and this was common knowledge. Second, since Fang Yuan had specifically sent the Dragon Palace to launch a preemptive strike on the Dragon Cave, he clearly harbored major ambitions. The Dream Path methods the Dragon Palace displayed, the formidable combat power it wielded — deploying all of that on some insignificant battlefield was not Fang Yuan's style at all!
"If Fang Yuan's plan all along was to use the Dragon Palace to subdue Di Cang Sheng, then his subordinates setting up the formation to counter the Ninety-Nine Chain Formation, drawing in our main force to attack furiously — that was merely bait. At the same time, the Eastern Sea Eight Immortals' surprise assault was nothing more than a smokescreen he had thrown out." Cold light flickered in Fairy Zi Wei's eyes.
"How could Fang Yuan possibly influence the Eight Immortals of the Eastern Sea? How did he manage it? There must be at least one member among the eight who belongs to Fang Yuan, or who cooperates with him in secret. Such members are probably not few in number — at least two, I would estimate."
Fairy Zi Wei speculated further: "But what if this was merely a case of Fang Yuan happening to be in the right place at the right time? The Eastern Sea Eight Immortals coincidentally sharing his objective, and him reaping the benefit. That is also entirely possible. After all, Fang Yuan possesses the Great Sun True Inheritance — his fortune has always been favorable. Meanwhile, our Qin Dingling is still recovering from her injuries. The cost of countering Ancestral Master Great Sun's arrangements far exceeded what anyone had imagined."
Even as an adversary, Fairy Zi Wei could not help but admire Fang Yuan.
She had to admit — what Fang Yuan had pulled off at the Dragon Cave battlefield was truly masterful.
The growing sense of foreboding in her heart deepened ceaselessly. Fairy Zi Wei's attention had already shifted largely toward Di Cang Sheng.
"There is a strong possibility he has already fallen under Fang Yuan's control. So where would he go to reinforce?"
"Emperor City is the nearest battlefield. They've only just received the Gu Master elites there, and the final decisive round of the Gu refinement tournament hasn't even officially begun. Destroying Emperor City would significantly delay the restoration of Fate Gu."
"The Mao Jiao Mountain battlefield — he could very well head there as well. Annihilating Heavenly Court's main force in one strike — that would be exactly Fang Yuan's style. Even if I withdrew our main forces back, he would find a way to destroy the Invincible Blessed Land. Once he razes the blessed land, the restoration of Fate Gu would have to be suspended for this cycle at the very least."
"The Heavenly Court battlefield itself is also a possibility. If Eternal Life could break in through a surprise attack, Fang Yuan is entirely capable of the same. After all, he inherited the true inheritance of Ancestral Master Red Lotus. There may well be some kind of hidden backdoor."
Since the war began, this was the first time Fairy Zi Wei felt truly on the back foot.
She deeply regretted that the large-scale Star Projection technique could not teleport Lord Dragon. Unfortunately, Lord Dragon's immense power itself became an obstacle to transportation. To put it in perspective, the dozen or so Heavenly Court Eighth Transformation Gu Immortals were like a pack of rabbits, while Lord Dragon alone was a full-grown elephant — the gap between them was enormous. The Star Projection technique simply could not move Lord Dragon.
Immortal Gu killer move — Dissolution!
The Northern Plains Gu Immortal Yu Yangzi unleashed his signature technique. This killer move was largely what had earned him lasting fame throughout history.
