This sky was incredibly vast, filled with brilliant crimson light, as though dawn had saturated the entire expanse.
Originally, there was nothing here, but at this very moment, an enormous Immortal Path Gu Formation floated through the void.
The Immortal Path Gu Formation radiated a vast, overwhelming aura of the Time Path — it was clearly a Time Path Immortal-level Gu Formation.
Inside this grand formation, Fang Yuan, Bai Ningbing, Hei Loulan, Maiden of the White Rabbit, Fairy Miao Yin, and Ying Wuxie had all taken their positions, ready for battle.
This Time Path Immortal-level Gu Formation had been continuously activated for quite some time already.
It used a Seventh Transformation Year Gu as its core, with the Eighth Transformation Time Path Immortal Gu Flowing Water Like Years serving in a supporting role. Not all Immortal Formations used the highest-grade Immortal Gu as their core — as with this particular formation, where the Eighth Transformation Flowing Water Like Years Immortal Gu actually occupied an auxiliary position.
This Immortal Path Gu Formation came directly from Hei Fan's True Inheritance.
Its primary function was to connect to the branches of the River of Time within one's Immortal Orifice, releasing the auras of a Seventh Transformation Year Gu and the Eighth Transformation Flowing Water Like Years Immortal Gu into those branches, luring the attention of Primordial Year Beasts.
Hei Fan had named this Immortal Formation: the Primordial Year Beast Fishing Formation.
The name was rather clever — others fished for fish, but Hei Fan fished for Year Beasts, and what's more, he fished for Primordial Year Beasts!
After creating the Eighth Transformation Immortal Gu Flowing Water Like Years, Hei Fan had come to deeply understand this Immortal Gu's fatal flaw: its aura held an incredibly powerful allure for Primordial Year Beasts. There was a very real chance one would follow a branch of the River of Time and come crashing into one's own Immortal Orifice.
For this reason, Hei Fan had racked his brains, devising all manner of solutions.
The first method he thought of was the same Time Path Immortal-level Gu Formation that Fang Yuan had previously used to trap Feng Jiuge, casting him into the River of Time. This Formation could detonate a branch of the River of Time, completely freezing time within the Immortal Orifice and sealing off the path of the Primordial Year Beast.
That way, the Primordial Year Beast would be unable to break in.
However, this method came with an enormous drawback.
Once time inside the Immortal Orifice froze, all resources would stop growing. And the Gu within could no longer be activated — after all, activating any Gu to unleash its power, even for a single instant, still consumed time. Every process required time.
So once a Gu Immortal adopted this method, they would have to move all their Gu out of the Immortal Orifice and attach them to their physical body.
This was extremely dangerous.
Especially in the heat of battle, where a powerful enemy could easily destroy them.
Hei Fan was extraordinarily gifted — the method he created served only as a last resort. He certainly wasn't content to stop there, and so he continued exploring.
He soon discovered that as long as one's Immortal Orifice already housed a Primordial Year Beast, then to the perception of other Primordial Year Beasts, it would appear to be another Primordial Year Beast's territory. Even with the enticing aura of the Flowing Water Like Years Immortal Gu, other Primordial Year Beasts would typically not steal prey from a rival's turf.
Thus, Hei Fan first attempted to devise a way to simulate a Primordial Year Beast's aura.
Unfortunately, his Transformation Path realm was quite mediocre, and he never succeeded.
Then he considered cultivating his own Primordial Year Beast.
But his Blessed Land was not particularly spacious, packed as it was with all manner of resources, making it very difficult to create an environment suitable for a Primordial Year Beast. Moreover, cultivating a Primordial Year Beast would require starting from at least an Ancient Year Beast — and Treasure Yellow Heaven did not sell Primordial Year Beasts.
Yet this process would take far too long. And by that point, Hei Fan's remaining time had already run short.
With both paths leading nowhere, Hei Fan envisioned yet another approach — he planned to use the Flowing Water Like Years Immortal Gu to summon a Primordial Year Beast and bind it to his service.
So he designed an Immortal Path Killer Move.
His Slave Path realm had reached the level of Grandmaster — far superior to his Transformation Path realm — and thus the Year Beast Summoning Move was born.
However, this Killer Move could only summon Ancient Year Beasts. Primordial Year Beasts proved far too difficult to recruit.
In the final period of his life, Hei Fan created the Primordial Year Beast Fishing Formation.
This Immortal Path Gu Formation could lure Primordial Year Beasts into one's presence, but it could not control or command them. Hence, it was called "fishing them in" rather than "summoning them."
A fished-in Primordial Year Beast was beyond anyone's control.
Hei Fan's true vision had been to summon a Primordial Year Beast and successfully manipulate and command it.
He passed away before ever achieving this goal.
This could only be counted as a regret.
Perhaps given just a little more time, he might have succeeded.
Beauty cannot withstand the passage of time — and in truth, neither can genius and heroism.
If Fang Yuan had the time, he too would have followed Hei Fan's vision, continuing along this path. Given enough time, he would surely develop an Immortal Path Killer Move capable of directly summoning Primordial Year Beasts.
This, in truth, was the true meaning of inheriting a True Inheritance.
