After Shi Feng clicked to use it.
The Mastery Book in his hand dissolved into a silver light and vanished, and a semi-transparent system roulette wheel appeared before his eyes.
Bronze-rank Mastery Books gave a random range of 5 to 25 points, and a player's Luck stat had absolutely no effect on this kind of roulette-style randomness.
While the needle was spinning, only the player himself could call for it to stop.
The roulette's randomness worked such that the more mastery points a sector offered, the smaller its area. For example, 5 mastery points occupied 25% of the total area, making them easy to land on, while 25 mastery points took up less than 1% of the total...
As for relying on eyesight, that was completely impossible.
The needle spun so fast that players' naked eyes couldn't even track it, making it impossible to judge the right moment to stop.
After Shi Feng called for it to stop, the needle's speed dropped sharply.
The needle landed on the 6-point position.
"Rolling for high mastery really is difficult. Good thing I have a total of 35 Mastery Books — becoming an advanced Sword Master shouldn't be a problem." Shi Feng looked at the points he'd rolled and couldn't help but smile bitterly.
Becoming an intermediate Sword Master required 200 mastery points, while an advanced Sword Master needed 300.
His current one-handed sword mastery was 177 points. Adding these 6 points brought it to 183, leaving a gap of 117 points. With 34 Bronze-rank Mastery Books remaining, even if every one gave only 5 points, that would still add 170 mastery — more than enough to advance to Sword Master Advanced. At that point, his one-handed sword damage would increase by 50%, and his overall strength would jump up a tier.
Shi Feng then began using the Mastery Books one after another.
Mastery +5!
Mastery +7!
Mastery +5!
Mastery +9!
...
Not a single roll exceeded 10 points. These Bronze-rank Mastery Books dropped by ghouls were a total scam.
However, after using 14 Mastery Books in a row, Shi Feng still managed to raise his one-handed sword mastery to 300 points, advancing to Sword Master Advanced. Compared to Sword Master Basic, the one-handed sword damage bonus was 20% higher.
"20 Mastery Books remaining. Only 150 points away from 450 mastery. Might as well push for Sword King." Shi Feng had originally wanted to save some Mastery Books for Huo Wu and the others, but if his one-handed sword proficiency could reach Sword King level, his killing power would be no joke.
Against current top-tier main tanks, if Sword Master Basic required seven normal attacks to finish a fight, then Sword King Basic would need only five strikes — not to mention when skills were involved.
In other words, advancing his one-handed sword to Sword King Basic was equivalent to unlocking a permanent minor burst skill. In PvP, it would allow him to challenge opponents above his level.
Currently, Shi Feng's combat realm was only at the Flowing Water level. As top players' equipment kept improving, Shi Feng's gear — which had long since reached the pinnacle — was nearly impossible to upgrade further, so his attribute advantage was steadily shrinking.
In pure close combat, Shi Feng estimated that he was only marginally stronger than same-level players with top-tier equipment who had reached the Void realm. Killing a Void-realm expert would take a considerable amount of time.
The Seven Deadly Sins Flower had so many experts. In a group battle, the longer he was entangled with a Void-realm expert, the greater the danger he faced. But if he advanced to Sword King Basic, killing Void-realm experts would become much easier.
Advancing to Sword King Basic was something Shi Feng was determined to achieve.
Shi Feng immediately continued using the Mastery Books to gain more mastery points.
One book... two books... three books...
Bronze-rank Mastery Books vanished rapidly from Shi Feng's hands, one after another.
Mastery +6!
Mastery +8!
