The Imperial Capital ruins.
On streets overrun with undead creatures, Shi Feng controlled his Tier 3 demon to continuously cut down ghouls.
However, ghouls were few and far between. Even after clearing out all the streets around the palace, Shi Feng had only obtained 4 Bronze-grade Mastery Books. His experience bar had risen quite a bit though, reaching level 37 at 53%. At most, he'd hit level 38 within a day.
Just as Shi Feng eliminated the last ghoul within the 200-yard restricted zone— The ghoul suddenly erupted with a golden light that shot straight into the sky. After the light faded, a golden glow sank into Shi Feng's body.
A system notification rang out.
System: The player has liberated a bound soul and received the Blessing of the Dead. Each ghoul killed increases reputation with the Thunder Beast Empire by 1 point.
"One reputation point per ghoul killed?" Shi Feng immediately understood how to enter the palace.
Whether it was a kingdom's palace or an empire's palace, neither was a place players could just walk into. You needed to reach a certain reputation threshold first.
But whether it was kingdom reputation or empire reputation, neither was easy to gain. Normally, you could only earn some reputation by completing special quests or achieving the first clear of a team dungeon.
These Thunder Beast Guardians were mechanical puppets—they only executed the commands left behind long ago. Once your reputation met the requirement, you could naturally enter.
To enter a kingdom's palace, you typically needed kingdom reputation at the Earl level. To enter an empire's palace, your empire reputation had to reach the Marquis level.
And Marquis-level reputation was 5,000 points.
Accumulating that much reputation would normally be extremely difficult, but now all he had to do was kill ghouls. That made things much easier.
"No wonder this quest was set with a 10-day time limit. You're supposed to kill 5,000 ghouls." Shi Feng now understood why the quest imposed a ten-day deadline.
Ghouls were level 60 special elites. On top of that, plenty of Agony Undead roamed the surrounding area and needed to be dealt with as well. An ordinary level-60 expert would need a good chunk of time to kill just one—anywhere from seven or eight minutes to over ten minutes. Killing 5,000 ghouls within ten days? Even fighting without rest or sleep, it wouldn't be nearly enough.
But this was nothing to Shi Feng.
A level-52 Tier 3 demon killed ghouls faster than a 20-man player team, to say nothing of the fact that he could control two Tier 3 demons.
Shi Feng then began hunting ghouls with wild abandon, cutting them down at breakneck speed.
Earlier, because he had to wait for ghouls to wander into the 200-yard restricted zone, his movement range was limited and his kill efficiency was low. Now, without that restriction, he could sweep down an entire street from one end to the other without ever stopping.
As the ghouls fell one by one, Shi Feng's reputation kept climbing.

Even though he killed them quickly, there were only so many ghouls on any given street. Running from one ghoul to the next took considerable time, which significantly reduced the rate at which his reputation increased.
