"So? You must be interested in joining the War Dragon Corps now," Long Wu asked again.
At that moment, Huo Wu remained silent, simply gazing at Long Wu in quiet contemplation.
"What kind of monster is this guy? Why is it that when he walks to within ten yards, I feel like death is approaching?" Huo Wu had undergone a period of intense training and her strength had improved dramatically. Leopard Lei's training, in particular, had greatly enhanced her control over her body and sharpened her perception.
Long Wu was clearly standing right there, yet he gave off the impression of a towering mountain.
Especially when Long Wu closed to within ten yards — it felt as though that colossal mountain had suddenly crashed down on top of her, as if her very life were no longer in her own hands.
This was different from simple pressure or intimidation. It was the sensation of being completely within Long Wu's dominion within a ten-yard radius.
Huo Wu couldn't believe it.
She had absolutely no idea how Long Wu pulled it off.
He was a Berserker, and aside from a few special skills, his attack range was only five or six yards at most. Yet now, with everyone's magic sealed and no skills available, Long Wu's effective range somehow extended to ten yards — and the feeling was that anything within that range would die on contact.
Even Huo Wu started to wonder whether exhaustion from recent training was playing tricks on her mind. But ever since she'd entered the Divine Realm, her instincts had never been wrong. Why would they suddenly fail her now?
That was why she had immediately pulled back to the absolute distance of ten yards.
However, simply stalling like this wasn't a viable option. After weighing her options, Huo Wu gritted her teeth and decided to test Long Wu.
In the next instant, Huo Wu transformed into a dark shadow and lunged straight toward Long Wu.
In terms of raw stats, Huo Wu was confident she outclassed Long Wu — and for good reason.
In brute force, one trump card beats every trick.
As for skill, Huo Wu and the others had trained under both Leopard Lei and Shi Feng. Their improvement had been enormous — they were now unquestionably top-tier experts. In terms of combat ability, they surpassed even the ordinary members of the War Dragon Corps. Setting aside soloing a same-level Leader monster, they could at least hold their own for a long time. Add in the first-tier set and a superior Dark Gold weapon in hand, and soloing a same-level Leader was entirely within reach. She could even go toe-to-toe with a Lord-class monster.
After all, the first-tier set was the best equipment short of an Epic-grade set, and the overall attribute boost was substantial. With three mid-grade Magic Armor Plates installed on top of that, her stats completely crushed those of the War Dragon Corps members. Taking on ordinary corps members posed no problem at all.
The same held true even for the War Dragon Corps commander, Long Wu.
The moment Huo Wu breached the ten-yard range, she pivoted on her foot and suddenly split into two figures. It was impossible to tell which was real and which was an afterimage — both silhouettes struck at Long Wu simultaneously. A single person becoming two attackers was something an ordinary person couldn't react to in time. Even an expert would hesitate for a split second. And Huo Wu's attacks were executed with virtually no wasted movement. Both blades of her True Fire Flowing Edge pierced toward Long Wu's vitals and blind spots at lightning speed.
The various guilds watching from a distance were momentarily stunned.
Huo Wu's speed and ferocious offense made evasion seem impossible — the human eye could barely keep up with her.
Even an expert would be finished in an instant!
But just before the True Fire Flowing Edge made contact, a streak of red light flashed. That crimson glow surged forward like a wall, simultaneously neutralizing the pincer attack of her two clones and forcing Huo Wu back.
"He's a Berserker, isn't he? How can he swing that fast?" Huo Wu stumbled back three steps before she managed to stabilize herself, her hands tingling with numbness.
Berserkers were known for their raw power, so being knocked back was one thing. But Huo Wu was an assassin — a class that prided itself on speed. She had attacked first, yet the result was that Long Wu had blocked her strike.
"That Huo Wu is actually pretty impressive. Too bad the gap between her and Long Wu is far, far too large — so large that she doesn't even know where the gap lies," Jiu Huang remarked with a faint smile from the distant vantage point.
