The players of White River City heard the system announcement and immediately grew excited.
A monster siege was an extremely rare occurrence, let alone the prospect of a spectacular battle and generous rewards.
That alone was enough to make the numerous players of White River City eager to get in on the action.
"Let's hurry to the city gates! If the guards wipe them all out, we won't get any rewards at all."
"I heard some monsters appeared near the transmission hall. I hope they haven't been killed already."
"Then let's head to the transmission hall too."
In an instant, players who had been resting in the bar and inn scattered in groups of three or five toward the transmission hall, not far from White River City's great iron gate.
Inside the transmission hall, everything had gone dead silent. Everyone was staring at the steel giant that had suddenly appeared.
Mechanical Slaughterer — Abnormal High-tier Leader, Level 50, HP: 40 million.
Compared to the data Shi Feng had seen the first time around, the Mechanical Slaughterer's HP had undergone an earth-shattering transformation. A horrifying 40 million HP was enough to leave every player looking up in awe.
On top of that, it had obliterated over a hundred players in a single blow. Any player witnessing this scene would feel only one thing — terror.
What puzzled everyone, however, was that the steel giant's gaze was fixed squarely on Black Flame.
The words it had spoken — "I finally found you" — were clearly directed at Black Flame.
But why would such a powerful monster come looking for Black Flame? The question was on everyone's mind.
"Why is a Level 50 Leader here?" Wei Wo Du Kuang stared at the Mechanical Slaughterer that had appeared out of nowhere, thoroughly baffled. This was the first time he had ever heard the term "Abnormal High-tier Leader."
Even a Level 50 High-tier Leader monster would be nothing to scoff at in front of White River City's several hundred Level 150 guards and Level 150 second-tier guard generals. And yet this creature had shown up. It was simply unbelievable.
What was even more astonishing was the High-tier Leader's demeanor and behavior — that playful, teasing tone of voice didn't resemble a monster at all. It was more like a lofty, supremely arrogant player.
It was proof that an Abnormal High-tier Leader was absolutely a far more fearsome monster than a regular High-tier Leader.
"Boss Wei, what do we do about this monster?"
"Should we run?"
The members of Dark Star grew fearful as they thought about the Mechanical Slaughterer's level and its terrifying destructive power.
"Run?" Wei Wo Du Kuang scoffed coldly. "Why would we run when heaven has handed us such a golden opportunity?"
"The main gate is already blocked by that monster, and its target is clearly Black Flame. What guard could do a better job than that thing? All we need to do is deal with Black Flame, and once he's dead, we'll take on the monster."
"Everyone, charge! We absolutely cannot let Black Flame escape today!"
With Wei Wo Du Kuang giving the order, the Dark Star members had no choice but to comply. One by one, they rushed toward Shi Feng.
At the same time, Wei Wo Du Kuang was summoning reinforcements through the guild channel, calling members to converge on the location.
It wasn't just Black Flame they wanted — Dark Star was determined to devour everything, including the Mechanical Slaughterer. A monster that was technically a High-tier Leader yet possessed intelligence far surpassing such creatures, and with such terrifying power to boot — if they could take it down…
The players from the major guilds saw that Dark Star's several hundred members had gone in, and naturally they weren't about to miss out either. They began contacting their own guilds to mobilize manpower, all of them thinking they could take down Black Flame first and then deal with the Mechanical Slaughterer to claim the glory and the loot.
"This is bad. A wolf in front, a tiger behind. We told him to run earlier, but now it's too late, isn't it?" Ban Jiu watched as Shi Feng was surrounded and the gate was blocked by the monster, his heart racing with anxiety. "Why don't we rush over there and help him right now?"
"Hold on." Jian Ying grabbed Ban Jiu and said softly, "Let's stick with what Guild Master Black Flame said. We need to find a way to get out of here."
"Brother Jian Ying, the situation's different now. If we don't help him, he's definitely going to die," Ban Jiu said.
