"You're not messing with me?"
Jue Tian stared intently at Shi Feng, trying to see through what Shi Feng was thinking, but no matter how he observed or analyzed, he couldn't see past Shi Feng's disguise using the Devil Mask. All he could see was a friendly, approachable middle-aged man wearing a smile. Jue Tian simply couldn't figure out what Shi Feng was after.
He'd already spared his life once, yet here he was using his life as a wager again. Why go through all that trouble? Wouldn't it just be easier to kill him outright?
"Why would I mess with you?" Shi Feng said with an amused chuckle.
"Fine, I'll take your bet. So what happens if I survive? And what happens if I die?" Jue Tian had to try, if only for the sake of his pride and honor.
"If you survive, I'll do one thing for you. If you die, you do one thing for me. How about that?" Only now did Shi Feng reveal his true intentions. Everything he'd done up to this point had been for this very purpose.
"Do one thing?" Jue Tian fell into deep thought. After a moment, he looked at Shi Feng and said, "What if I ask you to kill Ye Feng? Would that count?"
Shi Feng was momentarily stunned, then broke into a laugh.
Everyone in White River City knew that the aliases Black Flame and Ye Feng were iconic figures of the Zero Wing Guild.
He hadn't expected Jue Tian to make such a request. He had to admit, Jue Tian was pretty ruthless. If Black Flame killed Ye Feng, the impact on Zero Wing would be enormous, and it would deal a devastating blow to the reputations of both the Black Flame and Ye Feng aliases.
But whether it was Black Flame or Ye Feng, only a handful of core members knew that both aliases belonged to the same person—Shi Feng himself.
Killing yourself… that was a rather tricky proposition…
"What's the matter? Didn't you say you'd do one thing?" Jue Tian laughed smugly. "I'm making this small request and you're already hesitating?"
"Not at all. I just didn't expect you to ask for something so simple. I figured you'd want to kill me at least once. After all, I'm the Guild Master of Zero Wing. Feng Xuanyang of the Underworld absolutely hates my guts. If you killed me and showed the footage to the Underworld's higher-ups, they'd take you seriously and your status would skyrocket." The stakes of this bet couldn't have been higher.
If Black Flame fell, then all the prestige Zero Wing had painstakingly built through Black Flame would crumble.
Jue Tian suddenly realized—he'd completely forgotten about that angle.
The downfall of the Dark Star Guild had made Feng Xuanyang of the Underworld despise Zero Wing to the core. A guild he had poured so much effort into building had been reduced to this state, so naturally he wasn't going to let Zero Wing off the hook. Feng Xuanyang had issued a bounty—any Underworld member who could take down a high-ranking member of Zero Wing or cause them serious trouble would be handsomely rewarded.
Anyone who pulled it off would gain fame, status, and wealth.
If he could destroy Zero Wing, promoting from an outer member of the Underworld to an elite member would be no problem at all.
The Underworld didn't have many elite members, but anyone who earned that rank would soon become a figure of considerable influence in the real world. While countless outer members were killing themselves trying to become official Underworld members, here was a direct path straight to elite status.
If he killed Zero Wing's Guild Master, Black Flame, then becoming an elite member of the Underworld was genuinely within reach. Even if that didn't work out, he'd at least become an official member.
That was why Jue Tian had chosen to ambush Black Flame the moment he noticed Ye Feng wasn't among the Zero Wing group.
"Alright, I accept your bet. We'll start once I've fully recovered." Jue Tian figured that killing Zero Wing's Guild Master, Black Flame, in this manner was far too advantageous for him to pass up. He agreed immediately.
After a short while, Jue Tian's health and mental state had both recovered to their peak.
"How about we start when this coin reaches its highest point and begins to fall?" Shi Feng casually tossed a gold coin into the air and suggested.
