The Emerald-Eyed Spider had spent its entire life in darkness. Its eyes were adapted only to the dark. Now, the blinding blaze lit up the entire cave, and the spider simply couldn't adjust—like a startled little rabbit.
The Emerald-Eyed Spider, which had been at a clear advantage, was already at a disadvantage before the fight even truly began.
Not only was it already on the back foot, but because Shi Feng had activated the Ice Blue Demonic Flame, his damage was boosted by 20%, and ice-fire–type damage dealt an additional 40%. In an instant, Shi Feng's combat power leaped up by a massive margin.
Shi Feng seized the opening. A Silent Step put him directly behind the Emerald-Eyed Spider, twenty yards away.
He unleashed Flame Thunder Burst straight into the spider's body.
-1836 damage popped up above the charred Emerald-Eyed Spider.
Immediately followed by a 4-second stun.
He then followed up with Wind Thunder Flash, chaining into a slash.

A relentless barrage of attacks. By the time the Emerald-Eyed Spider woke up, its HP had already dropped to 72%.
The spider flew into a rage, whipping around and spewing dark green venom. But Shi Feng had already read the move. He dodged first, then activated Wind Walk and turned to flee.
Shi Feng understood all too well how terrifying a poison-type spider could be. The venom spit was just a minor trick—the real danger was the toxic gas radiating from the venom. If he stayed in place and fought the Emerald-Eyed Spider head-on, the outcome was obvious: he'd be whittled down by the poison.
So Shi Feng had preemptively used Wind Thunder Flash to apply a damage amplification effect, then switched to Scorching Fire Darts to kite.
Streams of fiery red needles hammered into the Emerald-Eyed Spider. Though the spider's evasion and blocking were formidable, Shi Feng's throwing technique meant at least two out of every three attacks landed. On top of that, Quadruple Phantom would occasionally trigger, dealing four hits of over six hundred damage each. When luck was on his side, the Blaze effect would activate, stacking five times. Combined with the Ice Blue Demonic Flame's enhancement, that meant 1,600 damage per second—far more than Shi Feng's melee output.
But that was perfectly normal. Magic Artifacts were powerful, but they hadn't been fully developed yet. Compared to the pseudo-Transcendent-grade Scorching Fire Darts, they fell considerably short.
As for the Emerald-Eyed Spider's ranged attacks, aside from the venom, all it could do was restrain with spider silk.
But both of these skills were meaningless against Shi Feng. A light step to the side, and he dodged them effortlessly before hurling another dart in return.
The spider's HP bar kept dropping.
62%… 45%… 33%… 20%…
Before long, the Emerald-Eyed Spider fell to Shi Feng's hand.

Even though Shi Feng didn't know the details of the Twelve Trials, the fact that it was set up as part of a Legendary quest meant the difficulty was guaranteed to be high.
Passing required clearing the sixth round, and the first three hadn't been that tough. By combat power, they were only at the early First Tier level, so the truly difficult part would definitely be rounds four through six.
