The fragment of the ancient divine text, hovering in midair and radiating golden luminescence, absorbed the violet-blue mist in the instant it made contact — like a traveler who had gone days without water in the desert catching sight of an oasis. It began greedily drinking in the surrounding violet-blue fog.
As the violet-blue mist continued to be drawn in, the divine inscriptions etched onto the ancient text gradually grew more complete, causing the surrounding mana to surge toward the fragment in a torrent.
After more than ten seconds of this, the divine inscriptions on the ancient text had been fully restored, and the aura it radiated surged dramatically in power.
"What an overwhelming pressure!" Shi Feng stared at the ancient text, which now looked entirely different from before, a flicker of excitement in his eyes.
The increase in divine pressure meant the ancient text had been upgraded. If the fragment had been upgraded, it should mean the evolution had succeeded.
Shi Feng immediately opened the ancient text to inspect it.
*Page Five of the Ancient Divine Text. Epic-grade item. An aged sheet of parchment that, despite the passage of eons, still bears indelible divine inscriptions. The fragmented inscriptions have been fully restored by the Holy Chalice, granting it power beyond comprehension.* *Skill One — Spirit Hero Summoning: Sacrifice the power of souls to forcibly awaken eighteen ancient hero-spirit warriors to fight on your behalf. The eighteen summoned hero-spirit warriors will be one tier above the player's level, up to a maximum of three tiers above. Cooldown: three natural days. (Cannot be used on weakened souls.)* *Skill Two — Soul Absorption: Absorb the soul of a half-dead creature. There is a significant chance of condensing a single drop of Soul Essence. Cooldown: three hours. (The more powerful the creature, the greater the chance of condensing Soul Essence.)* *Skill Three — Soul Enhancement: By consuming large quantities of Soul Essence, a creature's soul can undergo ascension. Cooldown: three hours. (The more powerful the creature's soul, the more Soul Essence required.)* *Skill Four — Divine Inscription Resonance: Automatically detects fragments of the Ancient Divine Text within a 1,000-yard radius.* *This item is soul-bound. It cannot be traded, cannot be stored in a warehouse, and has a chance to drop upon death. (Guaranteed to drop if the owner's soul is in a weakened state.)* "Why is it still Epic-grade?" Shi Feng stared at the data displayed by the ancient text, genuine bewilderment stirring within him.
Given the power alone that the Ancient Divine Text now possessed, even some Legendary-grade item fragments probably couldn't compare. If the various superpowers learned of its current strength, most of them would almost certainly be willing to exchange several Legendary-grade item fragments for it.
Yet despite possessing such power, it was still classified as an Epic-grade item — truly incredible.
"It looks like to advance further, I really will need to collect more fragments of the Ancient Divine Text."
After a moment's thought, that seemed like the only explanation. The Ancient Divine Text was a divine scripture written by the gods of antiquity, its true power capable of destroying heaven and earth. Expecting the Holy Chalice alone to elevate a single fragment page to the rank of a Legendary-grade item was, naturally, somewhat unrealistic.
Still, Shi Feng was more than satisfied.
The enhanced Ancient Divine Text had seen a massive improvement in its Spirit Hero Summoning — that single skill alone could turn one person into an army. Not only that, its capabilities in Soul Absorption and Soul Enhancement had also seen tremendous upgrades, far exceeding what he had imagined.
Most importantly, the Ancient Divine Text now possessed the ability to detect other fragments. With this effect, finding the remaining pieces would be considerably easier. If he could eventually assemble a complete text, the boost it would provide to Zero Wing would far surpass what three or five Legendary-grade item fragments could offer.
Shi Feng then stored the ancient text and turned to begin Soul Enhancement on the Mithril Guard standing behind him.
