In the skies above Mountain Lake City, as the King of Twilight's form gradually dissipated, flashes of radiance erupted from Shi Feng and the others. Shi Feng immediately shot up to Level 103, his experience bar past the halfway mark, while Lin Ya and the rest who had been operating the magic cannon surged from their freshly reached Level 98 straight to Level 100.
The experience points the King of Twilight had awarded were incomparably greater than those from any ordinary Level 100 Legendary monster—so much so that Lin Ya and the others were momentarily stunned into silence.
At the same time the King of Twilight dissipated, the endless blood fog that had blanketed all of Mountain Lake City surged wildly toward where the king had been.
In just two or three short seconds, the blood fog coalesced into a dazzling crimson crystal in midair. Its bewitching blood-red glow seemed to pulse with infinite magical power, drawing every pair of eyes.
Heart of the Anomaly!
In that moment, every player present knew without needing any observation skill what this blood-red crystal was. The energy contained within was simply too immense—even Seven Radiance Crystals paled in comparison. Simply hovering in midair, the energy fluctuations it emitted warped the surrounding space, as though reality itself could not bear that kind of power. This was not a force that should exist in the mortal world.
At the same time the Heart of the Anomaly appeared, a column of holy light descended from the sky above the King of Twilight, and a sacred melody resonated in everyone's ears, as though the heavens themselves were celebrating. Fully a hundred orbs of light rained down from the sky, scattering across the ground at the King of Twilight's feet, their seven-colored radiance illuminating all of Mountain Lake City.
Every treasure that had fallen radiated extraordinary pressure, and clustered together at the King of Twilight's feet, that pressure multiplied tenfold—like the roar of some colossal beast. Ordinary players couldn't even get close.
"Snatch it!"
After the King of Twilight's death drops had hung silently for a few seconds, someone shouted, and in an instant—as if a lit fuse had touched off a stockpile of explosives—every player on the scene charged toward the drops like madmen.
Giant Hearts, Defensive Puppets, Airships—none of it mattered anymore.
"Get in there! Those treasures are ours!"
"Kill anyone who tries to take them! Those treasures belong to us!"
"Anyone in the guild who snags one piece, I'll promote them a full level and double their guild contribution reward based on how rare the item is!"
……
The major powers of Mountain Lake City moved at once, rallying their guild members to swarm toward the King of Twilight's drops. Not a single faction cared about the considerable number of Giant Heart members present.
Before treasures, everything else was hollow. The only thing that mattered was strengthening your own power.
Besides, Giant Heart might be formidable, but the law couldn't punish the masses. With everyone diving in now, even if Giant Heart ruled the Poseidon World, what could they do about it afterward? Could they really destroy all of Mountain Lake City?
Even if they were forced to hand over the loot later, how would Giant Heart know exactly what each person had snatched? Being able to determine the count alone would be impressive enough. They could just hand over some random items and what could Giant Heart say? And if someone actually managed to grab a treasure that could transform their entire guild, the payoff would be enormous. Especially if they claimed the Heart of the Anomaly and received the Sea God's Blessing—they could always take to the seas of the Divine Realm continent afterward.
As the major powers mobilized, each one—as if they had all reached the same unspoken agreement—began carpet-bombing the dropped items with attacks, not letting a single player get within arm's reach.
"These people have lost their minds!" Lin Ya watched the major powers pummel the drops without regard for cost, fury welling in her heart.
She hadn't expected the players to be this insane, every one of them throwing caution to the wind.
The major powers had even deployed their war machines in the assault. With that kind of firepower, even an airship would need considerable time to break through—time more than enough for the surrounding players to reach the drops.
Hundreds of thousands of players!
Even with the Giant Heart's several thousand members and six Defensive Puppets, there was no way to hold all of them back.
"I'll grab the items. You just focus on keeping the players away," Shi Feng said to Lin Ya, his tone perfectly calm.
Men die for wealth as birds die for food. It wasn't like they would actually die in the Divine Realm. Facing a loot scenario that even he hadn't anticipated, there probably wasn't a single person in the entire Divine Realm who wouldn't be tempted.
