"Summoning your personal guards?" Feng Qianyu looked at Shi Feng with some surprise.
Personal guards were indeed powerful compared to the current player base, but they weren't players — if they died, reviving them was extremely difficult. For that reason, the major powers never sent their personal guards on any sort of risky venture, let alone something as dangerous as assaulting a fortress.
And considering the sheer scale of the undead army at the Northern Fortress, summoning personal guards wouldn't change a thing.
The moment the summoning magic array brought two figures into view — a resolute man with two long swords hanging at his waist and a woman in a lavish purple-gold robe clutching a scepter — the ambient mana across the entire space began to shift.
Mana within a radius of several hundred yards seemed drawn toward them like iron filings to a magnet, converging on the pair of its own accord.
"No way — both of these personal guards are over Level 100! I'm pretty sure the strongest personal guard in the Dragon and Phoenix Pavilion is only Level 96 right now!"
"Holy crap — both of them are Tier 3 personal guards!"
Anna and Kait's appearance drew a wave of gasps and envy from the crowd.
Shi Feng's earlier summoning of a Tier 4 hero had been impressive enough, but compared to the Tier 3 personal guards standing before them now, it was actually a step behind in practical terms.
That was because summoning a Tier 4 hero required a special consumable item and couldn't be done at will. Personal guards were different — as long as they hadn't been killed, they could be summoned freely, and with continued nurturing, their strength would only keep growing.
Moreover, having a personal guard reach Level 100 and successfully advance to a Tier 3 Class was no easy feat.
Everyone said that a personal guard hitting Level 100 meant Tier 3, but in reality, they couldn't simply become a Tier 3 Class the instant they crossed that threshold. They had to complete a class-change quest, much like players — though the quest was simpler and could be finished far more quickly.
For a Bronze Rank guard, the success rate of that Tier 3 class-change quest was only 20%. If they failed, they had to attempt it again, with a seven-day cooldown between each try.
That meant a Bronze Rank guard advancing to Tier 3 before Level 100 was nearly impossible without a good deal of luck. Even for a Gold-grade personal guard, the success rate was only 50%.
Reaching Tier 3 at Level 100 was clearly no small accomplishment.
But once they did make it, the benefit to a player at this stage of the game was enormous. Personal guards were essentially NPC entities of immense power — a Tier 3 personal guard was far stronger than a Tier 3 player-class, which made them invaluable for leveling, running high-tier quests, and even taking down field bosses.
This was exactly why so many powers poured resources into developing their personal guards: the goal was to push them to Level 100 as fast as possible so they could advance to Tier 3 and become a devastating asset.
Now that both of Shi Feng's personal guards had reached Tier 3, no one dared imagine how quickly his strength would snowball from here on out.
Feng Qianyu couldn't help but feel a pang of envy herself.
With two Tier 3 personal guards, he could head to any Level 100 neutral zone and begin preparing for his own Tier 3 advancement right away.
But envy was envy — two Tier 3 guards still wouldn't tip the scales against the current situation. There were still more than a dozen Undead Champions on the battlefield.
Just as the members of the Dragon and Phoenix Pavilion were thinking along those lines, Shi Feng issued his command to Anna and Kait: pin down the Undead Champions.
The Level 102 Anna and Level 101 Kait charged straight into the heart of the undead horde, heading straight for the fifteen Undead Champions scattered throughout the army.
