As Shi Feng's words fell, the entire conference hall fell silent.
No one had expected Shi Feng to stand up and raise an objection at this moment, least of all Qing Huang and the other senior members who supported Feng Qianyu's side — their faces all went pale. In contrast, the senior members on Jiu Longhuang's side couldn't help but smile.
"This is really bad…" Qing Huang stared at Shi Feng, at a loss for words.
Although this meeting had determined the successor to the position of Grand Leader, within the ten-day period before Jiu Longhuang officially took office, Feng Qianyu, as the current Hall Leader, could still convene one more meeting of the Elder Council. If more than half of the Elders deemed Jiu Longhuang unfit for the position of Grand Leader, they could remove him and select someone else.
The Elder Council of the Dragon Phoenix Hall was the most important meeting in the entire organization. Not to mention ordinary guild members — even most senior members had no right to attend such a gathering.
At such a critical meeting, Shi Feng and his people technically shouldn't have been present at all. But as guests invited by the Hall Leader, everyone understood they were her supporters, so they had turned a blind eye and allowed them to observe.
Now that Grand Leader Kurong had already determined the successor, forget about an outsider like Shi Feng — even someone of Qing Huang's standing as a senior member had no right to raise objections. Only the two Hall Leaders and the Elder Council members had that right. No one else did.
By raising an objection now, Shi Feng would not only provoke the resentment of every Elder present, but the Grand Leader would also likely develop a very unfavorable opinion of Feng Qianyu. After all, Shi Feng was someone she had brought in. To have a supporter show such blatant disregard for the Dragon Phoenix Hall — the Elders and the Grand Leader would both severely question Feng Qianyu's judgment. When that happened, any hope of removing Jiu Longhuang would be nothing but a pipe dream.
"Guild Master Black Flame! This is the Dragon Phoenix Hall. You're nothing but an outsider — you have absolutely no right to raise objections. If you continue disrupting this meeting, even though you are a guest invited by Hall Leader Feng, we'll have no choice but to ask you to leave." Long Wu, seated beside Jiu Longhuang, smiled as he looked toward Shi Feng and issued his warning.
Although Long Wu's words were ostensibly a warning to Shi Feng, every sentence was simultaneously making it clear to the Elders and the Grand Leader present that Shi Feng was Feng Qianyu's man — and that this entire farce was entirely due to Feng Qianyu's incompetence.
Grand Leader Kurong's brow furrowed slightly, his mood clearly souring, while the Elders present began murmuring amongst themselves.
"Where does this Black Flame think he is? Just because his force has recently grown close to a superpower-level organization, he dares to act this brazenly in front of the Dragon Phoenix Hall!"
"How has Feng Qianyu been managing the guild? She brings along such an ignorant so-called partner — I used to think she was decent, but now it looks like Jiu Longhuang is the one who's actually suitable."
"Exactly. The fact that Jiu Longhuang was able to forge alliances with Star Ring and the Blood War Adventurer Corps — that kind of ability is something Feng Qianyu can't hold a candle to."
…
Everyone's gaze kept drifting toward Feng Qianyu, and their doubts about her capabilities grew considerably. Their opinion of Jiu Longhuang shot up by several notches. Even Feng Qing Yue Luo, who had been indifferent throughout, couldn't help stealing a glance at Feng Qianyu.
She had previously thought Feng Qianyu was excellent at reading people, but now it was clear — her judgment was a complete disaster.
Shi Feng was nothing more than a reckless brute with courage but no brains. First he had offended the major powers of Dragon Heart City, then he had recklessly come back to Dragon Heart City, and now he was stirring up resentment among the guild Elders. Even if his personal strength was formidable, it was utterly meaningless.
However, none of the crowd's discussion drew the slightest attention or concern from Shi Feng. He merely looked at Long Wu with perfect calm.
"As everyone knows, Zero Wing is a partner of the Dragon Phoenix Hall, and our cooperation with Hall Leader Feng on the Thunder Island has always been productive. Now this meeting has put forward a leader that we, Zero Wing, find unacceptable. As a partner of the Dragon Phoenix Hall, are we not allowed to raise an objection?" Shi Feng said with a smile. "If that's the case, then I suppose Zero Wing will need to reconsider our plans to sell a hundred Bronze-rank speedboats to the Dragon Phoenix Hall."
As soon as Shi Feng spoke, the entire hall erupted in shock once more.
"What? A hundred Bronze-rank speedboats?"
