The Earth Ancient Snake's lightning-fast strike caught even Shi Feng off guard. Its speed was so extreme that even a peak Tier 3 expert would struggle to react, let alone a Tier 2 player like Shi Feng who was only at level 70.
Earth Ancient Snake — Ancient Fierce Beast, Legendary rank, Level 80, HP: ??????
"This is it…"
Shi Feng could only watch helplessly as the Earth Ancient Snake's mountain-like maw lunged toward him. There was nothing he could do. He could only activate Absolute Domain, but even that would be useless…
The Earth Ancient Snake was among the pinnacle existences among ancient fierce beasts. In the primordial era, these creatures could clash with gods directly. Their life hierarchy was no lower than that of the dragon race.
Legends spoke of the most powerful Earth Ancient Snakes being able to swallow even gods whole. Inside the snake's belly lay an entirely separate space — once a god entered, there was no escape. Only death awaited.
The Earth Ancient Snake before him was only a level 80 Legendary, but it was a genuine ancient fierce beast through and through.
Even if he activated invincibility, it wouldn't prevent the snake from swallowing him.
In the blink of an eye, the Earth Ancient Snake gulped Shi Feng down, and he vanished from the ancient hall entirely. After consuming him, the snake charged toward the demon and fire spirit that had only just recovered.
Once swallowed, Shi Feng felt his vision go pitch black. Although he hadn't taken any damage, an overwhelming, irresistible suction force pulled him toward an infinitesimally small black dot deep inside the snake's stomach. The pull was so powerful that Shi Feng couldn't move a muscle — he could only let the force drag him along.
The black dot appeared tiny, but the closer Shi Feng drew to it, the larger it seemed to become.
"Is this how it ends?" Shi Feng stared at the growing black dot, frustration gnawing at him.
In his previous life, he hadn't personally attempted this Thunder Axe City exploration quest, but he'd heard fragments about it. Not once had he heard that the guardian boss was an ancient fierce beast like the Earth Ancient Snake. The gatekeeper was supposed to be an ordinary Legendary monster.
As long as you used the Seal Stone to suppress it, you could deal with a Legendary monster whose strength had been drastically weakened.
But if a creature like the Earth Ancient Snake was standing guard, the Seal Stone would be meaningless. Even a High Lord-rank Earth Ancient Snake was far beyond what level 70–80 players could defeat, even if they used every item at their disposal to summon Tier 4 combat power.
The Earth Ancient Snake's life hierarchy rivaled that of dragons. Even at the High Lord rank, it could demolish a peer-level Tier 4 Legendary monster. That was the terror of the Earth Ancient Snake. And as an ancient fierce beast, its vitality was extraordinarily robust. While most monsters recovered 1% of their health every five seconds during combat, monsters with extreme vitality like the Earth Ancient Snake recovered 2% every five seconds — and it commanded heaven-defying innate skills.
In his previous life, a level 150, Tier 4 High Legendary Earth Ancient Snake that had appeared in the Divine Realm had left even a team of level 180, Tier 5 powerhouses utterly helpless. In the end, the entire hundred-man squad had been wiped out.
Keep in mind, the weakest members of that squad were level 180 Tier 4 Classes, and it contained no fewer than fifteen Tier 5 Class holders. That was the absolute limit of combat power any superpower could field at the time — and it still wasn't enough. Total annihilation.
It wasn't until a Tier 6 god-ranked player finally appeared that the level 150 Earth Ancient Snake was slain.
A level 80 Legendary Earth Ancient Snake — even a hundred-strong Tier 3 team at level 100 would meet the same fate. Only by using the Seal Stone was there any chance of bringing it down.
Before long, Shi Feng was sucked into the black dot. He felt the fabric of space and time twist around him. When he finally opened his eyes, the sight before him left him dumbfounded.
"What is this place?" Shi Feng looked around, momentarily unable to process what he was seeing.
It was a divine altar suspended in the void. The entire altar was shielded by a layer of magical barriers, which was the only reason it hadn't been crushed by the endless force of the world. And beside this city-sized altar, an impossibly long serpentine figure drifted — the Earth Ancient Snake, magnified to its true colossal form.
If not for that magical barrier, Shi Feng had no doubt the entire altar would have been devoured by the Earth Ancient Snake in just a few bites…
