At the gates of the Baron's Manor, Shi Feng's Holy Sword Thunder Slayer swept through the air.
Four cyan bolts from Wind Thunder Flash instantly devoured Silent Scorching Eagle and three others, leaving only a Level 50 Oracle and a Level 51 Ranger standing frozen nearby.
The two never expected Shi Feng to strike without warning — and without the slightest hesitation.
This was Lakeheart City. While it wasn't the bustling main street, any player who started a fight here would have the NPC guards on them in seconds.
Any player who attacked in Lakeheart City would be killed by the NPC guards, and depending on the severity, locked up as well.
Now he had just killed four people on the spot. At minimum, the NPC guards would lock him up for seven or eight days — possibly ten or more. For a player, that was far worse than death. And ten days, right after the new expansion had just launched when time was most precious — to dare do something like this was sheer madness!
"You're dead! You dared to kill players in Lakeheart City — the NPC guards will never let you go!" The Level 50 Oracle pointed at Shi Feng in terror.
"Madman! You're a complete madman! Just to keep your location hidden, you'd risk mutual destruction in Lakeheart City? Don't you care about losing the advantage you worked so hard to get?" The Level 51 Ranger beside him stared at Shi Feng with a grim expression.
"Mutual destruction? Unfortunately, you're not worthy of that."
Before the Oracle and Ranger could finish speaking, a cold, detached voice reached their ears. They saw the other Abyssal in Shi Feng's hand blaze with brilliant flame as he vanished from where he stood — and when he reappeared, he was already right in front of them.
Void Step!
Fire Blast!
The two were already shaken by Shi Feng's actions. Facing his impossibly fast sword strikes, they had no time to react before Fire Blast hit them both, burning them to nothing and dropping two items.
After killing all six members of Silent Scorching Eagle's group, Shi Feng quickly swept their dropped items into his inventory — the entire process taking less than three or four seconds. By then, the NPC guards in the distance were only just starting to react.
Fifty yards away, beneath a large tree, a masked Level 50 Assassin watched Shi Feng with eyes full of shock.
"Who is he? He just killed six members of the Song of Eternal Slumber right in the middle of the street!" The masked Assassin stared at Shi Feng, his expression one of indescribable gravity.
The Song of Eternal Slumber wasn't a top-tier adventure team in the Black Dragon Empire, but it was still well-known. With only a few hundred members, the team still had plenty of experts — he couldn't handle all six of them at once either. Yet Shi Feng had instant-killed all six members of Silent Scorching Eagle's group in just a few seconds, right on the streets of Lakeheart City. That kind of strength was truly terrifying.
Though the masked Assassin felt a deep sense of fear, the corners of his mouth couldn't help but curl upward.
Because just moments ago, using the Assassin's eavesdropping skill, he had heard the conversation between Silent Scorching Eagle and Shi Feng.
Eavesdropping was an ultra-rare Assassin skill. While it didn't boost a player's combat power in any way, it dramatically enhanced hearing — enough to hear conversations through a door, let alone from a mere fifty or sixty yards away. That was exactly why the guild master had sent him to monitor Silent Scorching Eagle and his group.
"The trigger for the new expansion? If the guild master finds out about this, he'll be thrilled — not only will we know the location for exchanging high-tier items, but we'll also have news about the new expansion. There'll be no obstacle to me joining the guild's main raid team." The masked Assassin laughed inwardly. He'd only been tailing Silent Scorching Eagle, but he'd stumbled onto an even bigger prize — one potentially more valuable than discovering the high-tier item exchange location. "But this guy is way too strong. To capture him, I'll need to get the guild's top experts involved."
He had already placed a tracking mark on Shi Feng. Unless he was killed outright like Silent Scorching Eagle, the tracking mark couldn't be removed.
Silent Scorching Eagle and his group had been fools to confront him head-on, assuming Shi Feng wouldn't dare attack on the street. But that mistake had been his gain — now he had far more intelligence on Shi Feng, and capturing him later would be much easier.
