Shi Feng ended the communication, turned, and left the Temple of War. He used a Guild Teleportation Scroll to travel directly to Zero Wing City, then used the Four Elements Tower's teleportation to head toward the Ancient Divine Ruins.
"Are there still evil demons around?" Shi Feng frowned slightly as he gazed at the desolate wilderness while approaching the Ancient Divine Ruins. He was wearing a black cloak that completely concealed his appearance and identity.
Now the plains were covered with overgrown grass, and everywhere he looked, evil demons and evil beasts above Level 70 could be seen. Their numbers exceeded five or six thousand, and their strength was far greater than the army of evil beasts and demons the Beast Emperor had previously sent.
The town had only recently been built, and no guild teleportation magic array had been set up at the guild settlement yet. Since guild teleportation wasn't an option, he had decided to personally make the trip to inspect the town and set up a teleportation array so other guild members could travel there directly.
"You, my friend, probably haven't been to the Beastman Empire in a while," a passing Level 49 Ranger said. He was a young man in deep blue leather armor with a friendly smile on his face. "A while back, the Zero Wing Guild fought a major battle against the Beast Emperor's army of evil beasts and demons. The Beast Emperor was forced to retreat, but he didn't give up. Instead, he gathered a massive new force of evil demons and beasts from Ancient Rock City and surrounded the entire Ancient Divine Ruins. Now, if you want to get to the Ancient Divine Ruins, the only way is through a checkpoint not far ahead."
"A checkpoint?" Shi Feng asked, puzzled.
"That's right. The Ancient Divine Ruins are completely surrounded by evil demons and beasts. They say it's to prevent Zero Wing members from sneaking through in disguise. These evil beasts and demons won't let any approaching player pass. Only after going through the checkpoint and being inspected can you get through." The young Ranger nodded. "I'd advise you not to try cutting through directly for the sake of convenience. These evil beasts and demons are incredibly powerful. Just recently, someone got fed up and tried to force their way through — a whole group of over a hundred players was wiped out. We've been working hard just to get close to the Ancient Divine Ruins, so honestly, there's no need to rush. See, the checkpoint is right up ahead, and the inspection there is actually pretty quick. They mainly just check whether you're a member of the Zero Wing Guild."
"They check whether you're a Zero Wing member?" Shi Feng looked in the direction the Ranger had pointed.
"That's right. I don't know what the Zero Wing Guild did, but apparently they enraged the Beast Emperor so much that he's determined to fight them to the bitter end. That's why they set up this checkpoint — it's guarded not only by the Beast Emperor's subordinates, but also quite a few evil demons, specifically to prevent Zero Wing members from getting through."
"I see." Shi Feng nodded in understanding and headed toward the checkpoint.
Evil demons weren't players, after all. As long as a player wore a black cloak, the demons couldn't easily identify them. But players could — all they had to do was ask passersby to remove their cloaks. Although Zero Wing members could also hide their guild emblems and slip through, doing so would simply make outsiders think that Zero Wing members feared the Beast Emperor.
"Where are you going, friend? The queue isn't over there!" The young Ranger called out to Shi Feng, who was heading straight for the checkpoint. "If you don't follow the rules and wait in line, they'll cause you trouble!"
"It's fine. I'm the Zero Wing member they're looking for." Shi Feng waved his hand dismissively and responded calmly.
With that, he quickened his pace and vanished from the young Ranger's sight.
"A Zero Wing Guild member?!"
The young Ranger was dumbstruck.
Not only was he frozen in shock, but his companions were rooted to the spot as well.
What was going on?
A Zero Wing Guild member was voluntarily heading toward the checkpoint — alone? Didn't he know that the checkpoint was guarded by hundreds of evil demons, including a Legendary one? Forget one person — even a hundred-man elite team would be walking to their deaths.
By the time the young Ranger and his companions snapped out of their daze, they rushed after Shi Feng, trying to stop his reckless action.
They were all free players, and in the conflict between the Beast Emperor and the Zero Wing Guild, they sided with the Zero Wing Guild. After all, the Beast Emperor was not only tyrannical, but also a member of the Evil God Temple who treated players as sacrifices. On the surface, they didn't dare say anything, but privately they despised him.
However, the young Ranger and his companions were far slower than Shi Feng. Before they could catch up, he had already arrived at the checkpoint and been spotted by the Beast Emperor's subordinates.
"Who are you? Don't you know this is a checkpoint? Everyone must queue up and remove their black cloak!" A Level 50 Shield Warrior in silver-gray armor, who was conducting inspections at the checkpoint, barked at Shi Feng.
Within the Beastman Empire, although the Beast Emperor's army had once been defeated by the Zero Wing Guild, for subordinates like these, no player or faction was worthy of their respect. Even a Super Guild had to give them some face — after all, the Beastman Empire was still the Evil God Temple's territory.
Even the top experts of the Divine Realm had to keep their heads down!
"Me?" Shi Feng smiled faintly. "I'm the Zero Wing member you're looking for."
With that, Shi Feng took a single step forward. His extraordinary attributes allowed him to appear before the Level 50 Shield Warrior in the blink of an eye, and the Holy Sword Thunder Slayer was drawn from his waist in a flash.
