"Sky Burial has been defeated?"
"How could it happen so quickly?"
Huo Yun was stunned the moment he heard the last words from Wuxia, completely unable to understand what had happened.
Over three hundred thousand players and more than a hundred thousand demonic creatures, plus so many legendary-power combatants — forget attacking a guild town, they could have laid siege to a guild city without any issues.
Even three or four hundred thousand ordinary monsters would take a long time to clear, to say nothing of such a powerful force. From the moment both sides clashed to the end of the battle now — how much time had actually passed? Probably not even half an hour, and it was all over...
No matter how he calculated, the numbers just didn't add up.
Besides, Yi Xiao Du Zang had been quite confident he could hold out for five minutes, yet only three minutes had passed and he was being told the battle was already over. It felt like Yi Xiao Du Zang was just messing with him.
But for a battle this critical to the Sky Burial Guild, no matter how Huo Yun thought about it, he couldn't believe Yi Xiao Du Zang would be joking.
If he were joking about something like this, the one who would suffer would be the Sky Burial Guild itself.
"So do we pull back now?" Qin Muyun, who stood nearby clad in silver armor with a round shield inscribed with divine runes on her back, her long hair billowing like a war goddess, spoke up.
"No. We've come all this way — how can we just leave so easily? Zero Wing just fought a massive battle with Sky Burial. Even if they dealt heavy damage to Sky Burial, Zero Wing's own condition can't be great. Let's go take a look first. If there's an opportunity, we can seize Stone Forest Town while we're at it." Huo Yun shook his head, a cold smile playing at the corner of his lips. "Besides, we have the high-tier summoning magic array — Dragon Descent. No legendary demonic creature or legendary beast can compare. Once Dragon Descent is unleashed, even a city's defensive magic array can't withstand more than a few hits. How could we possibly fail to break through a mere Stone Forest Town?"
Qin Muyun nodded as well. Their superiors had made it clear — Zero Wing must be made to regret ever daring to oppose Black Water. Everyone needed to see the consequences of sheltering someone with a Black Water bounty on their head, and Zero Wing Guild was the perfect target to make an example of.
While it was certainly surprising that Sky Burial had been defeated so quickly, the demonic army they had conjured up was still newly born and quite weak in combat power. As for Sky Burial's members, they appeared numerous on the surface, but their true elites numbered only around a hundred thousand at most. Their expert count had also taken heavy losses during the battle at Guyan City, so fielding four or five thousand was already optimistic.
This time they had brought over six thousand experts, with the remainder being elites among elites. Their superiors had taken this battle very seriously, even dispatching four newly promoted second-job class experts: herself, Zui Xiao Ke, Lie Feng Duan Hun, and Gui Yi. With these second-job Shield Warriors, Berserkers, and Assassins charging at the front, Huo Yun could fully unleash his power as a second-job Elementalist. This was nothing like Sky Burial, which so far had only three members who had achieved the second-job promotion — not even a single second-job tank.
Not to mention they had brought quite a few war machines this time — far more than eight catapults. Facing two or three legendary monsters, they would not necessarily be without the power to fight.
Huo Yun then led the team forward at an accelerated pace toward Stone Forest Town.
In less than a minute, they reached a small hillside from which Stone Forest Town could just barely be seen in the distance.
Just as Huo Yun and his group were preparing to arrange their army's formation and advance on Stone Forest Town, deafening booms suddenly echoed in their ears, shaking the entire forest. Before the sounds had even fully resounded, a pillar of light erupted from the distant treeline, utterly destroying the terrain and setting it ablaze with pitch-black flames, reducing everything to scorched earth.
Lying amid the scorched earth was a Demonic Blood Earth Dragon over fifty meters in size.
The creature's health points had already dropped to zero, its entire body charred black, covered everywhere with sword marks. Through each gash, pale white bone could faintly be glimpsed — and there were hundreds of such marks. The wretched sight of the Demonic Blood Earth Dragon sent a collective gasp through the Black Water forces present.
What's more, that single strike had not only killed the Demonic Blood Earth Dragon — hundreds of demonic creatures and hundreds of players had also perished beneath it. Dropped items littered the ground in heaps. But that wasn't the most alarming part. The truly unsettling thing was that those players, though clearly dead, could still be seen as souls being seared away in the void.
An ordinary player might not have known what this meant, but the high-ranking members and experts of major guilds understood all too well — this was a soul attack. Anyone killed by it didn't merely lose a single level. They would very likely be unable to log into the Divine Realm for a period of time.
