"So fast!"
Shi Feng's expression darkened as the Tyrant's Soul appeared before him in the blink of an eye.
He had long known that he was no match for anlv-80 Legendary monster, but he hadn't expected the Tyrant's Soul to be this swift. Even he — equipped with a fragment of a Legendary item and enhanced by a bloodline that had elevated him to a Tier 2 class — could barely catch a glimpse of its silhouette.
The Tyrant's Soul didn't wait for Shi Feng to mount any defense. It raised a single hand, and the surrounding magic instantly surged, coalescing into a cyan thunder-blade in its grip. It slashed down at Shi Feng with ferocious speed.
Where the thunder-blade passed, the air was cleaved cleanly in two, like a thin sheet of paper sliced down the middle. There was no sound — or rather, the blade was so fast that sound couldn't even keep up.
Shi Feng realized that even raising his sword to block would be too late. One hit meant instant death. In that split second, he activated Shadow Sprint, generating ten clones and swapping positions with one of them.
The moment the swap was complete, the clone was split down the middle by the Tyrant's Soul's strike. A thin scar was carved into the stone floor, stretching over fifty yards before finally stopping. Only then did Shi Feng hear the sound of rending air.
A single slash.
Shi Feng almost had the illusion that this one strike had divided the entire space into two layers.
Now, gazing at the Tyrant's Soul clad in dark-gold divine-patterned armor and a pitch-black crown, Shi Feng had to wonder whether the creature before him was truly just a Legendary monster.
Legendary monsters were indeed powerful, possessing extraordinary base stats. But in terms of combat proficiency, they were generally only at the level of an ordinary expert — roughly equivalent to reaching the fifth floor of the Trial Tower. Yet the Tyrant's Soul before him operated at a level close to Entering Perfection. Every movement was free of wasted motion, and combined with its terrifying speed, even a full party of Tier 3 players would be slaughtered to the last.
Shi Feng couldn't afford to waste a single moment. If not for Shadow Sprint, he would have been killed instantly.
He immediately charged toward the spiral staircase, sending his ten clones to draw the Tyrant's Soul's attention.
The clones had no offensive power, but they were invincible. No matter how the Tyrant's Soul attacked, they would remain unharmed — perfect for holding it at bay for a precious few seconds. After all, no matter how powerful a monster was, its intelligence couldn't compare to an NPC's, let alone a player's.
In the blink of an eye, Shi Feng had put distance between himself and the Tyrant's Soul.
But before he had taken more than a few steps, nine Wandering Souls charged at him.
Nine Lv-80 High Grand Lords — even Shi Feng felt his scalp tingle.
Fortunately, thanks to Gale Domain, the Wandering Souls' speed was significantly suppressed. They weren't like the Tyrant's Soul, which had barely been affected at all.
With their speed reduced and Shi Feng's own speed massively boosted by Gale Domain, he actually held the advantage in pure velocity. Facing the Wandering Souls' attacks, he activated Sword Control Return to Heaven, dodging and closing the distance to the spiral staircase simultaneously.
Though the Wandering Souls' combat proficiency was far below the Tyrant's Soul's, they still operated at roughly the level of the fourth floor of the Trial Tower. Ordinary experts would still be instantly killed by them.
It was only by leveraging his speed advantage and his mastery of the surrounding terrain that Shi Feng barely managed to dodge their attacks. But with nine of them at once, it was impossible to evade everything. He could only rely on Sword Control Return to Heaven to tank the hits he couldn't dodge.
Yet the closer he got to the spiral staircase, the more strikes landed.
The number of blocks Sword Control Return to Heaven could absorb dwindled rapidly.
Ten… eight… five…
With the last of Sword Control Return to Heaven's charges about to run out, Shi Feng was still over twenty yards from the staircase. And the nine Wandering Souls abandoned their melee assault, switching directly to magic.
In an instant, dozens of Shadow Blades materialized in midair.
"They can even use Shadow Judgment — the fastest Tier 3 spell?" Shi Feng's brow furrowed.
Magic varied in both power and speed.
Shadow Judgment was the fastest of all Tier 3 spells, but its damage was low. Against same-level monsters and players, it couldn't deal anything significant. Against lower-tier players, however, it was lethal — and with nine Wandering Souls casting it simultaneously, even a Tier 3 player could be wiped out in one volley.
