In truth, it would have been nearly impossible not to.
As a Fifth Stage Fallen Angel, Selena could freeze current players in their tracks without even deliberately suppressing her aura, let alone when unleashing her full power. Even Shi Feng, gazing at her from afar, felt a deep sense of fear—as though Selena was the very master of this space.
"Since someone has obtained a Semi-Legendary key, the God-Demon Stairway shall now open!" Selena's voice echoed across the entire World Peak, audible to every player on its slopes. "If you wish to gain power, then display a feat worthy of the gods' recognition!"
After Selena finished speaking, the entire World Peak began to tremble. Mana surged through the air, and around the peak, one pitch-black temple after another materialized. These dark temples floated in midair, each connected to the next by rows of black staircases that stretched all the way up to the summit of the World Peak.
The entire process lasted a full several minutes, yet not a single player present so much as moved from their spot. Every pair of eyes was fixed on the black temples forming in the sky.
"Why did an NPC suddenly appear?"
"What is this NPC going to do?"
"Could this be some kind of event trigger?"
"What's the God-Demon Stairway?"
As a black temple appeared among the many Bronze temples, everyone began chattering among themselves, filled with curiosity about the God-Demon Stairway Selena had announced.
Quite a few players headed toward the newly appeared black temple.
"A Semi-Legendary temple key—could it be Ling Yin and her group who triggered this God-Demon Stairway?" Already standing partway up the mountainside, Tian Ying couldn't help but stare toward the black temple, a flicker of envy and shock in his eyes. Gaining a massive amount of time was one thing, but possessing a Semi-Legendary temple key meant being able to open a Semi-Legendary temple. At the thought, he immediately ordered, "Move out. Let's go take a look at that black temple first!"
There was nothing he could do about the Semi-Legendary temple key—it was an identity-bound item with no physical form. The only thing he could do was figure out what this newly appeared God-Demon Stairway actually did.
As player after player arrived at the new black temple and read the stone tablet rules beside it, every face couldn't help but light up with excitement.
"Awesome! This God-Demon Stairway is absolutely amazing!"
"Damn it, if only I'd entered the World Peak a little later!"
Everyone stared at the God-Demon Stairway rules displayed on the stone tablet, buzzing with excitement—as though they had just laid eyes on a peerless treasure.
"What an incredible move!" Shi Feng muttered to himself in surprise as he read the rules on the tablet.
This God-Demon Stairway was different from the temples on the path up the mountain. Those temples simply required you to reach the designated area, possess the qualification to open a temple, and spend some time inside to receive rewards. The God-Demon Stairway, on the other hand, operated on an entirely different principle—it granted treasures based on one's own strength.
There was no time cost to enter the God-Demon Stairway. As long as a player had sufficient remaining time, they could stay inside indefinitely. The only restriction was the number of times one was allowed to enter.
Bronze Rank keys granted a single entry.
Iron Rank keys granted two entries.
Mythril Rank keys granted three.
Gold-grade keys granted four.
Dark Gold Rank keys granted five.
Epic Rank keys granted seven.
