Chapter 1510 — First Kill Reward

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 880 words

After the level 60 specialized high-tier Great Lord — the Half-Beastman Chief — quietly collapsed to the ground, everyone's experience bars surged forward by a massive chunk. Shortly after, a system notification chimed in each of their ears.

System: Congratulations! A party of one hundred or fewer has slain the Half-Beastman Chief. Reward: 10 Thunder Island Reputation points, 500 Thunder Island Contribution Points.

"Now that's a generous reward. No wonder all the major superpowers had such a huge advantage on Thunder Island in my previous life." Shi Feng clicked his tongue slightly upon hearing the system notification.

On Thunder Island, two things mattered above all else — the things every guild and player wanted most.

The first was Thunder Island Reputation, since it determined a player's permissions and status on the island. The second was Thunder Island Contribution Points.

These Contribution Points worked just like those at the Sea God Temple — they could be exchanged on Thunder Island for a wide range of items that existed nowhere else.

Just as the Sea God's Blessing was unique to the Sea God Temple, Thunder Island offered Thunder Potions in exchange.

These Thunder Potions were completely useless for players who wanted to adventure and fight on land, but for anyone planning to venture into the Sea of Death, they were nothing short of divine.

The potion didn't enhance any of the player's attributes. Its sole ability was to grant the player Thunder Force, which specifically targeted sea beasts in the Sea of Death and monsters on the islands. Not only did it increase damage by 20%, but it also significantly reduced the chance of being attacked — many sea beasts and monsters would actively avoid the user — while simultaneously weakening the monsters' perception of the player.

In his previous life, on the Sea of Death, if a player didn't have this item, virtually no team would accept them.

Near the outer edges of the Sea of Death, sea beasts and island monsters were relatively few. But once you ventured into the inner waters, the sheer number of sea beasts and island monsters was enough to make your skin crawl. A moment's carelessness could result in being surrounded on all sides, and out on the open sea there was no escape — you'd inevitably be besieged and killed.

Yet it was precisely the inner region of the Sea of Death that held countless opportunities and treasures. If players wanted to get anything worthwhile, they had to enter the inner zone.

Thunder Potions dramatically reduced the danger of the inner Sea of Death while simultaneously boosting combat strength. Without Thunder Potions, players simply couldn't get by on the Sea of Death.

However, Thunder Potions could only be purchased with Thunder Island Contribution Points, and there was no other way to obtain them. Contribution Points on Thunder Island were notoriously difficult to earn. Completing island quests typically yielded only a handful of points each, and the number of available quests was limited — not everyone could grab one. Only as a player's status increased could they access advanced quests that ordinary players couldn't, earning a somewhat larger amount of Contribution Points. Even then, it was only ten or twenty points per quest.

A single bottle of Thunder Potion cost 10 Contribution Points. It lasted ten hours with no cooldown, and drinking two bottles in succession would stack two layers of Thunder Force, boosting damage by up to 30% while further reducing the chance of being discovered by sea beasts and monsters in the Sea of Death. The combined duration was fifteen hours.

Now, defeating a single final boss guarding a settlement had granted every participating player 500 Contribution Points. It was absolutely insane.

On top of that, the 10 Thunder Island Reputation points were extremely valuable. Once a player's Thunder Island reputation reached 100 points, they could accept daily quests and certain hidden high-level quests on the island, which increased their daily Contribution Point income.

But compared to the system's generous rewards, the crowd gathered here was probably far more interested in the Half-Beastman Chief's loot.

However, two Half-Beastman Generals were still alive, so nobody dared let their guard down. They refocused their full attention on the two generals.

With the death of the Half-Beastman Chief, though, the entire beastman settlement had been captured by Zero Wing. A magic array rose from the ground, enveloping the entire settlement as surrounding magic surged inward, causing the magic density within the settlement to steadily climb.

The stats of the two Half-Beastman Generals began plummeting as well, clearly suppressed by the magic array. At the same time, teleportation channels appeared throughout the settlement, and from them emerged level 60 NPCs — a full hundred of them. Ten were Tier 2 NPCs, and ninety were Tier 1.

The moment these NPCs teleported in, they immediately launched their assault on the two Half-Beastman Generals.

NPC damage far exceeded that of players, let alone against generals who were already suppressed.

Outside the beastman settlement, every major faction on Thunder Island was dumbfounded.

They never would have guessed that Zero Wing had dispatched a mere fifty people and actually captured an entire settlement — and all before the Nine Dragons Emperor's rescue force had even arrived. The battle was simply over…
