The Golden Sacred Mark was originally a tool for locating the Seven Treasures.
Previously, a clue about the Seven Treasures had appeared once in Lake Heart City, but the aura of the Seven Treasures had only flickered briefly before vanishing. Fortunately, they had already locked onto an NPC.
The only problem was that said NPC was far too powerful, so they hadn't wanted to tip him off.
Now that Shi Feng had been in the Divine Realm for quite some time and had visited a fair number of places, he had stumbled upon another clue related to the Seven Treasures. And now, touching the Soul Orb had actually triggered the Golden Sacred Mark — how could he not be excited?
Because of this, Shi Feng decided to give up on entering the Demon Island and return to White River City first.
It wasn't for any other reason — the Soul Orb was guaranteed to drop upon a player's death. The ruins on Demon Island were already dangerous enough, and now, with the appearance of the Demon God, they would likely become even more perilous. If he died inside the ruins, it would be an enormous loss. So returning to White River City was the priority.
After that, Shi Feng bid farewell to Jun Wuchang, and they agreed to meet tomorrow at the Endless Sea.
Meanwhile, on Demon Island, the black-robed ranger Chen Xu had just arrived, only to see Mad Lance watching Shi Feng and his companions leave. His eyes nearly bulged out of his head.
"Boss Mad Lance, you're just letting them go?" Chen Xu said, disbelief coloring his voice. "We lost a lot of people."
They were Demons — dying once meant losing three levels. Just the members killed by Shi Feng numbered sixty or seventy. If the higher-ups found out, the punishment would be severe. After all, it wasn't easy for a player to become a Demon in the first place.
"Can only say our luck was bad," Mad Lance said.
"You mean even you, Boss Mad Lance, couldn't wipe them out?" Chen Xu asked, stunned.
Mad Lance was one of the top experts in the Seven Deadly Sins, and the five members in his party were all stronger than Chen Xu in overall combat power. Dealing with Shi Feng, who didn't have any burst skills, should have been absolutely no problem. Moreover, Mad Lance had already become a Titled Demon — in terms of strength, he was entirely on par with those second-tier players of the same rank. How could he have been no match?
"Do you know who that top-tier expert you're talking about is?" Mad Lance turned his head and asked.
Chen Xu shook his head. Shi Feng had been wearing a black cloak, and all his information was hidden. Judging solely from the Swordsman class, there was no way to figure it out — after all, the Divine Realm had far, far too many expert Swordsmen. Among the Swordsmen who had entered the Divine Realm, there were plenty of unknown powerhouses with no reputation. How could he possibly guess?
"He's the Ice Eye Killer!" Mad Lance said with a bitter smile.
"What? He's the one the higher-ups have been trying to find?" Chen Xu blurted, taken aback.
The Ice Eye Killer might not mean much to ordinary players — after all, ordinary players had no idea how difficult it was to kill a high-ranking member inside a super guild's headquarters, let alone accomplish it single-handedly.
Even the old monsters among the Seven Deadly Sins had praised him highly and wanted to recruit the Ice Eye Killer into their ranks.
"No wonder he was that strong!"
Chen Xu recalled the scene of Shi Feng one-shotting Iron Hammer and the others, and felt that it did seem quite plausible. Otherwise, how could someone kill a high-ranking member in a super guild's headquarters and then leave unscathed?
"Alright, go notify the higher-ups now. Tell them I've found a way to contact the Ice Eye Killer. While you're at it, compile all the detailed information from the previous battle and bring it along. As for Demon Island, we'll handle the cleanup quickly," Mad Lance instructed.
