Third-tier magic scrolls were extremely rare in the Divine Realm—none were sold on the open market. Even if you tried to buy one from a major guild, you'd need the right connections and have to trade rare items for them.
But Barbarian Spear recognized both of the magic scrolls Shi Feng had produced.
One was a third-tier large-scale destruction magic scroll. Once activated, even players like them—high-defense, high-HP demons—would be instantly killed.
The other, a third-tier defensive magic scroll, was widely acknowledged as the single best life-saving scroll currently available in the Divine Realm.
As long as the third-tier defensive scroll was deployed, current players had absolutely no way to break through it. Even a fourth-tier large-scale destruction spell couldn't pierce the third-tier defense—meaning even a fourth-tier Legendary monster couldn't shatter the magical barrier. And if players were protected under that defensive magic, there was nothing anyone could do; they could only watch helplessly as Shi Feng and his group used return scrolls to leave Demon Island.
That was precisely what Barbarian Spear did not want to happen.
"You're really willing to part with two third-tier magic scrolls?" Barbarian Spear stared hard at Shi Feng, unable to believe that Shi Feng and his people still had such trump cards.
If he could, he would have killed Shi Feng before he had a chance to activate the scrolls. But he already knew that Shi Feng's skill level was absolutely top-tier, and preventing a top-tier expert from using a magic scroll was impossible—even for a Domain master.
Whether it was a large-scale destruction scroll or the even more precious third-tier defensive scroll, both were once-in-a-lifetime finds. He didn't believe Shi Feng would just throw them away so readily.
"What's there to be reluctant about?" Shi Feng said with a smile. "Now that Demon Island has undergone these changes, once we get back, we'll simply sell the information to those superpowers. I'm sure they'd be willing to compensate us for our losses."
When Barbarian Spear and the others heard Shi Feng say this, their expressions turned even colder, as though they wanted to tear Shi Feng apart with their bare hands.
Just as Shi Feng had said, there were still many things left unclaimed on this island, and dealing with them would take considerable time. If other superpowers found out, a massive battle would be unavoidable, and some of those treasures might even be snatched away by rival factions.
That was absolutely not something they wanted to see.
"I admit you're clever," Barbarian Spear said, suppressing his rage. "Name your terms. What do you want?"
Shi Feng's lips curved slightly upward as he spoke at an unhurried pace: "Since this is a contest, it should be fair. Your conditions are far too one-sided for us. If we win, we only get to leave safely. If we lose, we have to surrender part of our souls and remain in a weakened state for a long time. If you truly want to hold this competition, let's make it fair. If we have to pay with our souls when we lose, shouldn't you offer something as well if you lose?"
Items rewarded by the Demon God weren't like monster drops that could be lost on death—they required the player to carry them for two hours. Once in your inventory, unless the item was specifically set to drop on death, even killing the other person wouldn't reliably make it fall out. And even if it did drop, it might not be the Soul Pearl he wanted.
In his previous life, numerous superpowers had been desperate to obtain Soul Pearls, resorting to all manner of schemes both overt and covert, yet they never managed to get their hands on one. They could only watch helplessly as treasures were traded with the Seven Sins Blossom, with no other option available.
"You want us to offer something in return?" Barbarian Spear's gaze at Shi Feng was cold enough to make one shiver, but it had absolutely no effect on him. Shi Feng currently had him completely cornered—and on top of that, Shi Feng held the key to Demon Island over his head. "Fine. If you win, I'll give you a level 45 dark gold equipment piece. But if you want to beat me, you'll need to deplete at least half of my HP. Choose whichever option you like."
Everyone who heard Barbarian Spear's response couldn't help but admire Shi Feng.
The five people at Barbarian Spear's side especially—if Shi Feng weren't an enemy, they might have actually applauded him.
Not for any other reason, but simply because he had managed to make Barbarian Spear take a single step back, even if it was a small one.
