Maritime inheritance was a type of hidden class inheritance — a general term, to be precise.
Simply put, it was a dedicated path to becoming a hidden class.
This particular hidden class granted players tremendous power at sea, but its limitations were equally severe. Outside of maritime combat, the player was no different from any ordinary class. Unlike other hidden classes that boosted performance across all environments, this one was rather extreme in its focus.
That said, for players who spent most of their time on the ocean, a maritime inheritance would be an absolute prize.
Even a run-of-the-mill maritime inheritance could turn a player into a formidable force at sea, let alone a high-tier or top-tier one.
Top-tier maritime inheritance could even allow players to challenge opponents of a higher level.
For guilds looking to establish a maritime presence, maritime inheritance was of paramount importance. Any player lucky enough to obtain one was almost invariably a prime recruitment target for major guilds.
Having such an expert on board made sea transport far safer and dealing with sea beasts considerably easier.
Moreover, in the previous life, the Freedom Alliance had indeed produced quite a few holders of maritime inheritance, which was what elevated the Alliance to fame across the Divine Realm and kept other superpowers from crossing them lightly.
Jun Wuchang saw that Shi Feng seemed interested, and knew there was now a real chance of cooperation.
"Actually, this maritime inheritance comes from an ancient ruin our Freedom Alliance discovered. Whether you can obtain the inheritance depends on your own ability once you're inside. There's a barrier restriction and a limit on numbers — each of our fleets is only allowed ten ships to enter. That's why I'm inviting you, Brother Yefeng. I believe that with your speedboat combined with the strength of my Third Fleet, we could harvest quite a bit from the ancient ruin."
"We could draw up a contract: if we obtain two inheritances, I'll give one to you, Brother Yefeng. How does that sound?"
The other players of the Third Fleet couldn't help but click their tongues. They hadn't expected their commander Jun Wuchang to be so generous.
Then again, it made sense — they were talking about a Mythril-rank speedboat. Without offering something substantial, the other party probably wouldn't even bother responding.
"Two inheritances?" Shi Feng asked, surprised. "Are there that many inheritance items in there?"
"Each time the ancient ruin opens, several inheritance items can be found inside. Whether you can claim them is another matter entirely," Jun Wuchang said with certainty.
The last time the ancient ruin opened, all eleven fleets of the Freedom Alliance entered. They discovered several inheritance items, but only one fleet actually managed to obtain a maritime inheritance. That fleet had since become the strongest in the entire Freedom Alliance.
Everyone else was green with envy.
And because it was the Alliance's strongest fleet, the perks were different too.
It had seized control of three major shipyards under the Alliance's banner.
Shipbuilding was still a bit premature for current players — they needed to cultivate more life-skill players first — but major shipyards also handled vessel repairs.
After fierce naval battles, ships always sustained some damage. Repairs at a major shipyard were not only cheaper but also faster.
His Third Fleet, by contrast, currently only had access to one major shipyard. There was simply no comparison.
On top of that, there were special cannonballs — the strongest fleet always received the most and the best, with whatever remained going to the other fleets…
The ancient ruin was about to open again, and there was no way he was going to let this opportunity slip.
"What if we obtain three inheritance items?" Shi Feng asked.

"Sure. As long as you can get it, it's yours." Jun Wuchang didn't care in the slightest — it was practically impossible anyway. Just an empty promise.
