"So this is the benefit of killing a King-tier sea beast?"
Shi Feng stared at the purple-gold lightning badge in his hand, faintly ringed by arcs of cyan electricity, his heart flooded with surprise and elation.
Heavenly Thunder Badge!
As the name suggested, it was the emblem of Heavenly Thunder Island.
More accurately, it was the symbol of authority over Heavenly Thunder Island!
Because the Heavenly Thunder Badge granted the guild that possessed it a significant advantage in the struggle for control of Heavenly Thunder Island.
As far as Shi Feng knew, there were a total of ten Heavenly Thunder Badges on the island. If someone could collect all ten, they would become the absolute ruler of Heavenly Thunder Island.
However, in his previous life only five had ever been discovered, which was why no guild had ever truly dominated Heavenly Thunder Island.
And every guild that had obtained a Heavenly Thunder Badge had become a dominant force on the island.
The Heavenly Thunder Badge had three major functions.
The first was a pass function — it allowed the bearer to bring fifty people into each contest for Heavenly Thunder Island.
The struggle for the island operated on a fixed number of passes obtainable by killing sea beasts in the Sea of Death between each contest cycle. However, the fifty slots granted by the Heavenly Thunder Badge were separate from that total. If one could collect all ten badges, they could bring in five hundred people. Combined with the pass slots, this would grant a massive advantage on Heavenly Thunder Island.
The second function was the Heavenly Thunder Domain — the player carrying this badge could suppress all enemies within a five-hundred-yard radius on Heavenly Thunder Island.
The suppression effect on players was modest, reducing their base stats by only five percent. Against the monsters on Heavenly Thunder Island, however, it was devastating, suppressing their stats by a full thirty percent.
The third function was authority on Heavenly Thunder Island — the player wearing this badge enjoyed high-level authority on the island.
This authority was arguably the most important feature of the Heavenly Thunder Badge.
For any guild hoping to develop on Heavenly Thunder Island, authority was critical. Without sufficient authority, one could accomplish practically nothing on the island. The greater the authority, the more benefits one could enjoy.
Currently, every major superpower was vying for control of Heavenly Thunder Island. Even those who had claimed territory on the island possessed only basic-level authority. As for ordinary players, they had no authority at all.
That said, authority could be increased. It required making various contributions to Heavenly Thunder Island, and one's rank would climb little by little. Compared to ordinary players, those who already dominated a territory on the island could raise their authority far more quickly. And this authority would never reset — unless someone truly obtained all ten Heavenly Thunder Badges and became the sovereign of the island.
On Heavenly Thunder Island, authority was divided into five tiers: Ordinary, Basic, Intermediate, High, and the supreme Ruler.
Just to reach Ordinary tier from nothing, a player needed to accumulate three hundred Heavenly Thunder Contribution points.
From Ordinary to Basic required three thousand points.
From Basic to Intermediate required ten thousand points.
From Intermediate to High required one hundred thousand points.
Reaching High tier was the cap — the only way to go higher was to obtain all ten Heavenly Thunder Badges.
