Chapter 109: The Overbearing Iron Sword

April 18, 2016 · 4 min read · 762 words

After the system announcement, Iron Sword Mad Lion watched as Shi Feng and his group emerged from the Dark Moon Cemetery.

Iron Sword Mad Lion was taken aback as well. Their Martial Alliance had gained absolutely nothing from the Dark Moon Cemetery, and yet here was Shi Feng's team, having not only cleared it but done so on Hell Difficulty.

Though he was a rough man, even he knew the rewards from clearing the Dark Moon Cemetery had to be substantial — and Hell Difficulty? The haul was undoubtedly staggering.

When they first entered the Divine Realm, the Martial Alliance had no resources or wealth to speak of, and they were unfamiliar with this kind of game. Building up a guild proved incredibly difficult, so they had always relied on stealing elite monsters and killing well-equipped players to obtain gear and money, with some income also coming from small-team dungeons.

But for such a large guild, their resources and wealth were running ever thinner, and they simply couldn't find any reliable way to turn a profit.

"Iron Sword Boss, look at that Guardian Knight's shield — it's engraved with runes, and it's giving off that faint purple glow that only Mythril Rank gear has. That's gotta be equipment from the Dark Moon Cemetery."

"Boss, check out that guy's pauldrons — same purple glow. Mythril Rank gear too."

Several lackeys behind Iron Sword Mad Lion pointed at the equipment worn by Shi Feng's team members, drooling. Every single one of them, even the worst-geared, was sporting Bronze Rank equipment, and there was plenty of Iron Rank gear among them too. They definitely hadn't walked in with all that, which meant it all came from the Dark Moon Cemetery — level five Iron Rank and Mythril Rank equipment, all worth a small fortune.

"Boss, if we wipe them and sell off their gear, we could solve the guild's funding problem in one go." Ximen Piaoxue eyed Shi Feng's equipment and grinned.

Iron Sword Mad Lion nodded. It made sense.

Their guild's development had stalled, and the root cause was money. If they could loot everything off Shi Feng's team, that problem would be taken care of.

Sure, Shi Feng was pretty strong and had even reached level 7 — two levels above most of them — but what good was that against over a hundred people?

"Kid, don't even think about getting away today. Be smart: hand over all your gear, pay ten gold coins in compensation, and let me kill you back to level zero. Then we'll call it square. Otherwise, you might as well delete your account and start from scratch." Iron Sword Mad Lion glared with his bell-sized eyes and sneered.

Shi Feng looked around. Iron Sword Mad Lion had brought over a hundred and thirty people. The majority were around level 3, with terrible gear. Only about thirty had reached level 5, and they were all wearing Bronze Rank equipment. Among them, Iron Sword Mad Lion himself was the strongest, clad in a level four Bronze set.

"When the time comes, fight while falling back into the woods," Shi Feng said in team chat. "They've got the numbers. If they surround us, we're done for."

"Good — I've been itching for a fight. Time to PK some people," Hei Zi said, cracking his knuckles.

The rest of Shi Feng's team laughed. They'd been dying to test out their new gear. Kill one and you break even, kill two and you come out ahead. If they could take down three or four, they'd be laughing all the way to the bank.

Bai Qingxue stepped forward and said softly to Iron Sword Mad Lion, "Yefeng is my friend. I was wondering if you might do Snake of the Body a favor and let this matter rest."

The members of Snake of the Body had already figured it out — the Martial Alliance had come for revenge, and their target was Shi Feng. They had no idea how he'd managed to offend the Martial Alliance, or why he thought he could take on an entire guild alone. They didn't even know what to say about that.

As expected, every expert had their own unique personality, and Shi Feng was no exception.

But the Martial Alliance was nothing more than a bottom-tier guild. If Snake of the Body stepped in, any Martial Alliance leader with half a brain would take the ladder they were being offered and gracefully back down — after all, Snake of the Body was vastly superior to the Martial Alliance.
