Chapter 782: The Bond Between Us

January 17, 2020 · 3 min read · 631 words

The lines on his palm stopped turning black. The unease that had been lingering in 's heart slowly dissipated, and he felt his breathing become easier.

The dark figure hadn't lied to him. At the critical moment between life and death, it had made the correct decision.

After the lines on Chen Ge's palm stopped darkening, the dark figure's body gradually became translucent — even though it had been on the verge of solidifying just moments before.

"I still can't trust you."

He had reaped every possible benefit, yet Chen Ge showed no intention of letting the other party go. There was only one chance, and he intended to make the most of it.

The weakened dark figure heard Chen Ge's words and jumped up in agitation. It lunged for the doorknob again, only to have another sharp nail driven into the other side of its neck.

That was ruthlessly cruel.

The dark figure's features were too blurry for anyone to read its expression. After suffering twice, it no longer dared to get close to Chen Ge.

As an Original Ghost, it could hardly imagine being cornered like this by someone who was merely a death substitute.

Blood was about to swallow the art studio. Everything here would be buried in crimson. The dark figure waved its hands desperately — if it didn't leave now, its soul would truly be obliterated!

"You're a sinister, cunning, vicious, and terrifying ghost, while I'm just an ordinary person. Our strength is worlds apart — how am I supposed to trust you? I don't understand the death substitution process, I don't know what the darkening of the palm lines really means, and if you've done something to me underhandedly, I wouldn't even be able to tell."

Chen Ge could feel the changes unfolding in the art studio. One bizarre painting after another was being stained red by the blood. The inverted images were slowly righting themselves. The crimson tide had overtaken everything, and the two people in the room felt as though they were being dragged inexorably into the depths of an inescapable ocean.

The dark figure couldn't speak. It bounced in place, waving its arms frantically with exaggerated motions.

"You're trying to say you didn't lie to me?" Chen Ge knew he couldn't stay in this place for long. He pressed his body against the door, positioning himself as close to the exit as possible so he could bolt at any moment. "Fine, I'll trust you this once. But I want to see some sincerity."

The dark figure instantly understood what Chen Ge meant. It could hardly believe it was being extorted by a death substitute.

"You originally lived in Room 413, so you must know a great deal about Lin Sisi. I need you to tell me everything — no holding back." Chen Ge's words came in a rapid-fire stream.

The dark figure nodded frantically upon hearing this, then moved to step forward — but Chen Ge pulled yet another nail from his pocket.

"Second thing. You lived in the same room as Lin Sisi. Do you know his phone's unlock password?" Lin Sisi's phone was the single most critical item among all the props Chen Ge had obtained. The problem was he didn't have the password, which meant he couldn't put this crucial tool to use.

The dark figure's movements hitched slightly. Just as it was about to express its thoughts, Chen Ge cut in again:

"Don't even think about lying — I have his phone right here!"

He pulled the phone from his pants pocket and swiped the screen open. "Tell me!"

Upon seeing the phone, the dark figure reacted strangely. It instinctively took half a step back before it began gesturing a series of numbers at Chen Ge.

"5-1-4-1-3?"
