Chapter 567: The Older Sister

January 17, 2020 · 3 min read · 651 words

Chen Ge had been observing the father and daughter the entire time. He needed to figure out which of them was the special visitor.

"To your left is Muyang Middle School — a large-scale haunted school. To your right is the Third Ward — a psychotic asylum-themed scene. Straight ahead is Living Coffin Village, one of the rare desolate ghost villages in the country. The corridor behind you leads to the Underground Cadaver Storage, inspired by a certain medical university." Chen Ge personally gave them the tour, staying close by their side with utmost caution, afraid that something might go wrong.

The park hadn't officially opened yet, so he wasn't worried about other visitors seeing them.

The middle-aged man's body trembled slightly after entering the underground scene. This was probably his first time visiting a haunted house, and he looked visibly nervous.

His daughter acted rather strangely — eyes wide open. If the man hadn't been holding her hand, she probably would have run off somewhere long ago.

"Which scene would you like to visit?" Chen Ge let them choose for themselves. It was also a test.

The man opened his mouth, a muffled sound coming from his throat. He seemed to be asking his daughter.

The little girl's face was the kind that grew cuter the longer you looked at it, but that only made it all the more pitiful. Probably due to heredity, the child also had intellectual disabilities.

The little girl didn't know where to go either. She glanced timidly at Chen Ge.

"Then let's visit each scene one by one. Before the park officially opens, I'll give you a proper tour." Chen Ge walked in front, leading the father and daughter into the Muyang Middle School scene.

Along the gloomy corridor, cold gusts of wind blew through at irregular intervals. Blank exam papers drifted across the floor, producing eerie scraping sounds, like a hand gently brushing against one's heart.

The classroom doors on both sides stood half-open, with broken desks and chairs piled haphazardly inside. Before long, the three of them arrived at the doorway of the last classroom.

Without any mental preparation, they were met with rows of faces pressed against the windows. This classroom was packed full of "people."

The middle-aged man clearly hadn't expected this. His body jolted and he staggered backward.

Chen Ge, who had been keeping a close watch on their reactions, quickly reached out to steady the man. He had underestimated the terror level of his own haunted house — especially for someone who had never set foot in one before.

"Be careful."

The man's reaction allowed Chen Ge to rule him out as the special visitor. From that point on, he shifted his focus to the little girl.

When the middle-aged man nearly collapsed from fright, the little girl slipped free of his hand. She stood alone outside the window of the last classroom, staring blankly at the figures inside.

They gazed at each other for a moment. Then she leaned her entire body against the windowsill and reached through the glass, trying to touch the face of one of the dummies.

The dummy dressed in a school uniform was surprisingly cooperative. Its body tilted slightly forward, bringing its face right up to the glass.

Seeing the dummy move on its own, the little girl's eyes grew even wider. There was fear in her gaze, but curiosity far outweighed it.

Chen Ge watched all of this from a distance. He felt this girl bore a strong resemblance to Fan Yu when he was young, but not exactly the same.

"She probably can't see ghosts, and she's not as clever as Fan Yu."

Only after spending time with Fan Yu had Chen Ge realized that the boy possessed a maturity completely at odds with his age — he understood a great many things, only he locked it all inside his heart.
