Chapter 453: Zhang Ya! Zhang Ya!

January 17, 2020 · 3 min read · 692 words

Dr. Gao sank into the blood, his body landing atop the pile of corpses, where countless hands dragged him inside.

Bubbles kept rising from beneath the corpse pile. Slowly, the bodies blanketing the blood pool began to tremble — every last one of them, as though reanimated, scrambling frantically toward the pile's interior, like starving people fighting over a delicious meal.

The blood in the pool began to recede at a speed visible to the naked eye. Each droplet transformed into wriggling threads of crimson that seeped into the corpse pile, stitching every body into a single whole.

The organs embedded in the walls withered away. The blood vessels overhead that sustained this entire world snapped one by one. The world beyond the door had suffered irreversible damage — the negative emotions that composed it were being stripped away. And among the countless corpses, that one doctor bore alone all the despair that ordinary people would flee from.

BOOM!

A hand made of severed body parts rose from the blood pool — arms, shins, twisted fragments of broken bodies fused together, dripping with blood, wrapped in countless threads of crimson.

The palm slammed down on the edge of the pool, cracking the wall. Five fingers dug into the ground, and from the depths of the blood pool erupted a hysterical, beast-like roar!

Amid the churning sea of blood, another hand stitched together from body parts emerged from the thick liquid. The entire world shook. As the last of the blood soaked into the limbs, a massive monster clawed its way out of the pool.

It was composed entirely of severed remains, blood vessels exposed across the surface of its body. It had no eyes, no nose — only a gaping, cracked maw.

ROAR!

Its entire head was a writhing mass of screaming human faces. The monster raised its arm — chunks of corpses kept falling away — but it paid them no mind, swinging with every ounce of strength it had, straight at !

Compared to the colossal monster — so enormous it had burst through the flesh-and-blood ceiling of the operating room — Zhang Ya was insignificant. They weren't even on the same level.

Yet facing a monster dozens of times her size, Zhang Ya showed not the slightest intention of dodging.

In her red dress, standing her ground, she stared at the monster before her — the madness in her eyes blazing to life.

She revealed a side entirely different from the one she showed . With her back to him, her face was pale and twisted, faintly dark blood vessels surfacing across her skin, her eyes brimming with venom and bloodlust.

She was a Red Dress. And this was what a true Red Dress truly was.

A piercing shriek tore through the air. Her black hair surged forward like a rising tide. Whether it was because she had devoured the dark bloodstains, her long hair had grown even blacker — and from a distance, the cascading darkness looked like night itself descending.

She didn't dodge, nor did she wait for the monster's palm to come down. Her hair crashed into the monster of its own accord.

Huge chunks of corpses broke away. The monster's arm was stopped — not only could it push down no further, it was being lifted, inch by inch.

From the monster's cracked mouth came a strangled roar, fragments of corpses tumbling from the corners of its lips.

It couldn't believe that this Red Dress before it had actually managed to block it — and even less could it accept that this Red Dress seemed even more savage and overbearing than itself.

Its other arm rose as well, but before it could descend, the surging black hair had already swallowed it whole.

The commotion grew louder and louder. The operating room — forged of flesh and blood — seemed on the verge of collapse.

Dr. Gao, who had shouldered all the despair of the world beyond the door, was still losing ground. Events had spiraled beyond his control. All he could do now was pour everything he had into killing Zhang Ya first.
