The face woven from blood threads seemed to hit something and stopped abruptly, frozen thirty centimeters from
"What's this?"
The face paused for a moment. The blood threads on it crept forward, and standing between Chen Ge and the face was a young man.
"Cut open the skin, blood pouring over my body, watching them share me."
The boy didn't look very old. Tears welled in his eyes as he slowly raised his head, his expression gradually spiraling out of control. Blood began seeping from every part of his body.
"It hurts, it hurts, it hurts!"
The entire face contorted violently, its features shifting grotesquely. As if it had gone mad, the boy plunged both hands into the face on the back of the passenger's head and began tearing at the swirling blood threads like a feral dog!
"Ahh!"
The passenger and the face on the back of his head both screamed at the same time. Chen Ge was so startled he took a step backward.
This was the first time he had seen
"This is insane."
The scene was bloody and had spiraled out of control. Chen Ge shuffled further back.
"Going all out from the first strike — fight to the death, no holds barred. That's a little terrifying." Chen Ge gripped the Skull Crusher tightly. "Living in that much pain isn't good for him either. Later I'll need to help him work through his obsessions and teach him the art of persuasion."
Xu Yin was not a Red Dress, and his strength was far below
"Every ghost in the Horror Wheel is no joke. I should be more careful about spinning it."
Holding the title of Favored by Ghosts, Chen Ge felt like the wheel offered nothing but ghosts or items that boosted ghost affinity. No matter what he drew, the end result was always the same — more ghosts gathering around him.
"Even if my guts are a little bigger than most people's, I'm still just an ordinary man. I need to know my limits."
The passenger crawled across the ground. The face on the back of his head was far stronger than Chen Ge had anticipated.
Xu Yin exchanged wound for wound, his body growing increasingly translucent, but the face wasn't faring any better. Its flesh was a mangled mess — Xu Yin had nearly torn it clean off the back of the passenger's head.
"What kind of monster is this?!" the face shrieked in agony, but no one could give it an answer.
The blood threads kept snapping apart. The way Xu Yin attacked looked more like he was seeking death, and watching it sent a shiver down Chen Ge's spine.
"Unless it's a life-or-death crisis, I'd better not summon Xu Yin again." Chen Ge now found himself appreciating the Pen Spirit. Among all his employees, she was the gentlest one. Sure, she would slack off and cut corners from time to time, but when it truly mattered, she never once disobeyed Chen Ge's orders.
Xu Yin grew more and more frenzied. Chen Ge quickly stepped out from behind the tree where he had been hiding. He couldn't stand watching this brutal scene any longer and decided to put the thing out of its misery.
"Monsters that escaped from behind the door need to latch onto a living person to exist for any length of time. The Skull Crusher barely does anything to the Blood Face. If that's the case, I'll have to go after the passenger."
Chen Ge hefted the Skull Crusher and caught up to the passenger. He sized up the right spot and brought the hammer down again.
"I can't hit the head, but how do I knock him unconscious without actually killing him?"
The passenger seemed to hear Chen Ge's voice. Every hair on his body stood on end as he spun around to stare at Chen Ge, his eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets.
"I..."
He seemed about to speak, but Chen Ge didn't give him the chance. The hammer fell, and the sound of shattering bone rang through the air.
