Chapter 2276: The Descent of a True Immortal, The Might of the Heavenly Tribulation

March 26, 2014 · 5 min read · 1,072 words

The next instant, a thunderous rumble erupted from within the azure light clusters. Wisps of azure qi separated from the clusters, then flashed and transformed into massive wooden pillars.

Each pillar was a full five or six zhang long, their surfaces radiating a faint azure glow. They were extraordinarily heavy and as hard as refined steel, and the moment they appeared in the air, they let out terrifying howls as they plummeted from the sky at tremendous speed.

Han Li, below, saw this sight without so much as a change in expression. With a flick of his hand as he formed a seal, a piercing shriek rang out overhead as countless azure sword lights materialized. After a slight tremor, the hissing sound of splitting air erupted!

All the sword lights transformed into individual sword threads, crisscrossing and interweaving to form a massive net.

As the glistening azure threads flashed past, the massive wooden pillars were shredded to pieces like scraps of paper.

No matter how endlessly the pillars descended in a steady stream, not a single one could break through the azure sword net.

As time passed, the sword net advanced steadily upward against the direction of the falling pillars.

But the azure cloud clusters in the sky continued to swell and expand, while the falling pillars grew ever larger — pillars over ten zhang long turned into countless dark shadows as they hammered downward.

But the sword net was formed from Han Li's seventy-two life-bound Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords!

At his level of cultivation, every single one of these flying swords was comparable to a spirit treasure — they were incomparably sharp. Even though the falling pillars now descended with far greater ferocity than before, they still could not withstand the cutting power of a single sword thread.

After a series of thunderous booms, the sword net plunged deep into the sky above. It suddenly converged and then split apart, retransforming into seventy-two azure rainbows that flashed violently as they pierced through the nearby azure light clusters, forming curtains of sword light that churned wildly through them.

Immediately, all the cloud clusters exploded with booming sounds and scattered apart. After circling once high in the sky, they shot back downward, each one flashing as it vanished back into the void without a trace.

Han Li hovered within the purple-golden halo of light, staring intently at the sky above without blinking.

A moment later, the scattered specks of light beneath the dark clouds spun around and transformed into a deep azure, then flashed as they coalesced back into blue light clusters.

The light clusters at this point were more than twice their original size. From within them came the faint sound of pleasant flowing water, as torrential streams cascaded downward like waterfalls — as if thousands upon thousands of white dragons were plunging from the sky, or as though the Milky Way itself had inverted and was pouring down.

Han Li's expression shifted slightly. Without a second word, he immediately formed a hand seal.

Instantly, his three-headed, six-armed Vairocana avatar opened all three mouths wide and blasted toward the sky.

Rolling torrents of silver flame erupted forth, and in a flash, they transformed into a sea of fire that swept up the cascading streams overhead.

As water and fire collided, billowing columns of white steam spread outward, suddenly forming a vast sea of mist that filled the sky.

Within the sea of mist, the fog was so thick that one could not see one's own hand before one's face — nothing was visible at all. All that could be heard was the constant sizzling sound as the mist rapidly spread in all directions.

Han Li saw this, and a sharp gleam flashed in his eyes. He abruptly intensified his hand seal, and the silver flame sprayed by his thousand-zhang Vairocana avatar surged several fold in intensity.

The rolling silver flame condensed and vaguely took the form of several fire dragons, which bared their fangs and brandished their claws as they plunged into the sea of mist one after another.

The next instant, thunderous booms erupted like claps of lightning!

Balls of silver fire, each the size of a multi-storied pavilion, emerged one after another within the sea of mist, flickered wildly several times, then detonated in rapid succession. As the rolling silver flame surged and expanded, it forcibly tore the sea of mist apart.

After just a few breaths, most of the mist had vanished entirely in the swirling silver flame, finally revealing the scene it had been obscuring.

The silver flame, with the fire dragons rampaging through it, not only held back the cascading streams in the sky but also rolled and flickered as it surged back toward the blue light clusters at their source.

With the terrifying might of the silver flame, the blue light clusters would surely disintegrate and vanish the instant they made contact.

But just then, countless silver arcs suddenly flickered across the surfaces of the light clusters high in the sky. They then spun around wildly, beginning to expand and contract erratically.

Thunderous crashes erupted!

Each blue light cluster suddenly contracted, slowly ejecting water spheres the size of a human head from within.

These water spheres appeared perfectly clear, yet were remarkably viscous. As gentle ripples danced across their surfaces, they formed lines of blue spiritual patterns that radiated a soft, azure glow.

The moment these water spheres began to descend, they erupted with deep, rumbling booms. The blue light clusters themselves then shattered apart on their own, dissolving into nothingness.

Han Li, who witnessed all of this from below, suddenly changed his expression drastically.

The next instant, the rolling silver flame and the fire dragons swept through and engulfed all of these blue water spheres within the sea of fire.

"Pop, pop!" sounds rang out in rapid succession!

A flash of blue light flickered within the sea of fire, and the spheres pierced straight through without the slightest damage from the silver flame.

"A Thousand Rivers Heavy Water!"

A cold gleam flashed in Han Li's eyes. With a low shout, all hesitation vanished from his mind as he drove his Vairocana avatar with full force.

The silver flame from the three-headed, six-armed avatar's mouths abruptly ceased. All six arms clenched into fists and swung simultaneously, and thunderous booms erupted!

Dense, countless fist shadows materialized once again, shooting upward toward the sky.

Rumbling booms roared forth!
