The crimson talismans affixed to the surface of the box were something
His only concern was whether these talismans were linked to the other restrictions within the jade box.
He certainly didn't want to peel off a talisman only to have the jade box shatter immediately, destroying whatever was inside.
But after such a long time, he had already figured out how to remove them.
For anyone else, this might have been a tremendous hassle, but fortunately, several of the supernatural abilities he possessed were remarkably effective at suppressing and breaking through all manner of restrictions.
So as soon as Han Li had finished laying down his precautionary measures, he tossed the jade box into the air, letting it hover motionlessly.
Then, channeling his spiritual sense into the small black mountain hovering above, a snow-white hand made a grabbing motion toward the jade box.
Instantly, the Protonic Divine Light erupting from the mountain flickered, growing noticeably denser than before. At the same time, the five fingers of the white hand trembled, and five white bone skulls shot out from the fingertips. They swelled with a whistle and lunged straight for the jade box.
They began circling around it, dancing above and below.
"Break!"
Han Li gave a low shout and pointed a finger at the five skulls.
Several muffled pops rang out as the five skulls opened their mouths simultaneously. Five-colored cold flames surged forth and engulfed the jade box within them.
A startling sight appeared.
Under the flickering five-colored cold flames, the crimson talismans trembled gently, gradually peeling away from the lid on their own.
What should have been a light, effortless motion was slowed many times over by the special properties of the five-colored cold flames, allowing Han Li to observe every detail without blinking.
After only a brief delay, the final talisman came completely free of the lid.
But this short interval was more than enough for Han Li to observe every abnormal change within the jade box.
Suddenly his expression darkened. The five-colored cold flames that had been rolling around the jade box transformed into a massive five-colored hand that wrenched the lid open by force.
An extremely unstable surge of powerful fluctuations erupted skyward from within the box, followed by a golden sphere of light that shot out—but the five-colored hand seized it from the air, instantly freezing it in place.
But just then, a tremendous boom sounded, and centered on the jade box, a crimson light formation eerily materialized. Pulsing in and out, it seemed on the verge of exploding.
Han Li glanced at the light formation, and the terrifying spiritual power contained within it made his expression shift.
One hand forming a seal, the five-colored hand suddenly tightened its grip on the golden-silver light sphere and transformed into a five-colored rainbow of light, streaking toward the corner of the room. At the same time, the surrounding Protonic Divine Light constricted sharply, condensing into what appeared to be a solid gray pillar of light that firmly trapped the white light formation within.
But the next instant, the light formation erupted.
A ring of white radiance instantly appeared within the pillar of light! Without a sound!
The pillar immediately began to shake violently, strange ripples spreading across its surface, as though the white radiance might burst through and shatter it at any moment.
Han Li's eyes narrowed. Then he snorted coldly, opened his mouth, and a silver fireball shot out.
The fireball spun in a circle and transformed into a silver firebird, which flashed into the gray pillar of light and plunged straight into the white radiance.
Moments later, something strange happened. Within the white radiance, the violent fluctuations—previously like a volcanic eruption—suddenly began to weaken, while the radiance started shrinking rapidly, ring by ring, at a speed visible to the naked eye.
In just a few breaths, it flashed and vanished completely.
In its place, a silver firebird—now several times its original size—was swallowing the last wisp of white light.
Seeing this, Han Li finally felt at ease.
He immediately beckoned with one hand.
The silver firebird spread its wings and flew back, disappearing into Han Li's body after a single flash.
The five white bone skulls dissipated into nothing with a series of pops.
Meanwhile, the great hand formed from the five-colored flames flickered and eerily appeared above Han Li's head. Its five fingers loosened, and the golden-silver light sphere dropped from the air.
Han Li flicked his sleeve upward, and a wave of green light swept out, immediately catching the object in his palm. Then, with a subtle movement of his fingers, the golden-silver light dimmed several degrees, revealing the object's true appearance.
He raised it before his eyes and focused his gaze upon it carefully.
Within the spiritual light lay an ancient-looking token, roughly half a foot in length.
One side gleamed with golden light, the other shimmered with silver. The surface was covered in dense, mysterious patterns, and on each side was inscribed an unknown ancient character.
Even with Han Li's vast knowledge, he could not identify which race's writing this was. Naturally, he was completely baffled.
Han Li's fingers gently traced the surface of the token, and a look of surprise appeared on his face.
What the Wangu Clan's chieftain had entrusted to him with such solemn gravity had turned out to be this.
