Chapter 1624. Spirit Realm Hundred Races — Colossal Strength

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,052 words

A thunderous boom echoed across the heavens!

The black mountain had barely sunk a small portion into the gray light dust when it suddenly shuddered to a halt in midair, as though something had forcefully braced against it from below.

This time, 's expression genuinely shifted to one of shock.

No one understood the weight of the Divine Magnetic Mountain better than he did. At the very least, before he had advanced to the Void Refining stage, he would never have been able to lift it. It was only after reaching the Void Refining stage, relying on the body-strengthening effects of the Holy Nirvana True Devil Art, that he could barely withstand the mountain's extraordinary heft.

Yet the strange moth before him had somehow managed to do exactly that.

Heart pounding with alarm, formed a rapid series of hand seals without a moment's hesitation. Above his head, the golden dharma idol's six arms began to wave in a flurry. The golden halo around it spun rapidly before shooting out sphere after sphere of golden flame. But after traveling more than a dozen zhang, the flames transformed into a sweeping gale of pale gold wind that roared toward the moth.

Before the wind even reached the gray light dust, sharp whistling erupted as countless wind blades shot forth from the gale, vanishing in the blink of an eye as they pierced into the dust.

Muffled *pfft pfft* sounds followed—the wind blades had struck something—but no further noises came from within. It was as though the strange moth inside had suffered no damage whatsoever.

narrowed his eyes and poured more magical power into his technique.

The golden gale surged forward with a howl, scattering every last wisp of gray light dust in an instant and revealing everything it had concealed.

stared intently, and his face changed abruptly.

With the dust gone, the strange moth that now stood revealed had undergone a dramatic transformation.

Its originally bloated, massive body was now covered in a layer of ink-green scales, each one palm-sized. A serpentine tail like one forged from steel now protruded from below. At the same time, two grotesque arms as thick as water vats had sprouted from either side of its body, similarly coated in green scales. Both arms were thrust upward, physically bracing against the descending Divine Magnetic Mountain.

Even 's brow twitched at the sight.

The monster's bizarre post-transformation shape was one thing—but how could it possess such colossal strength? From the ease with which it held the mountain, its raw power surpassed even his own by a fair margin.

However, the cold gleam in 's eyes flickered. The already-shattered remnants of his flying swords nearby flashed with green light, transforming back into several dozen emerald threads that shot toward the monster at blinding speed.

For reasons he could not fully explain, the moment the strange moth had transformed, had sensed that its seemingly indestructible body might no longer be invulnerable. He therefore showed no mercy, immediately restoring all his flying swords, determined to slay the creature.

A piercing screech erupted from the moth's serpentine maw. Instantly, the green scales on its body projected outward, each one forming a translucent hexagonal shield—crystalline and dense, as though carved from crystal—completely cloaking the creature beneath them.

The emerald threads struck the shields. Flashes of white light flickered across their surfaces, and every last thread deflected sideways, whistling past without causing the slightest harm.

's expression darkened. He was about to attempt another technique when the giant moth bent both arms and then thrust them straight upward with explosive force.

A deafening boom shook the air as the black mountain, a full thousand zhang tall, was hurled skyward by the creature's brute strength.

Immediately after, the countless crystal shields shattered simultaneously with a cascade of sharp cracks. Each fragment dissolved into a blinding burst of white light that merged together in an instant.

From a distance, it was as though a white sun had suddenly materialized.

The radiance was so intense that even was forced to shut his eyes, inwardly crying "Not good!" But in the very next instant he snapped them open again, and dazzling blue light blazed within his pupils.

The white light was simply too blinding. Even under the power of his spiritual eye technique, 's vision ached terribly. But in that brief moment, he had already seen clearly what lay within the white radiance.

The corner of his mouth twitched.

The center of the white light was completely empty—not a trace of the strange moth remained. In the instant he had closed his eyes, the creature had vanished without a shadow.

With 's vast combat experience, he would never grant his opponent such an opening. Almost the instant he realized the moth had disappeared, without even thinking he shook his other sleeve. Five white jade skull heads shot out, orbiting around him in a rapid circle while spewing streams of five-colored flame that blanketed an area of over a hundred zhang.

And indeed, just a few dozen zhang to 's side, a strange shriek rang out. A dark shadow roughly seven or eight zhang tall materialized within the rolling five-colored flames.

It was the vanished moth.

Only now the creature's body had shrunk to a tenth of its former size, and its movements within the flames were sluggish and labored—it appeared to be trapped.

's face lit up with delight. Without a moment's hesitation, he opened his mouth, and a wisp of silver flame and a small green cauldron shot out simultaneously.

The silver flame twirled rapidly and transformed into a silver firebird roughly a foot tall that dove straight toward the moth.

The small green cauldron hummed, its lid flipped open, and a spray of green threads burst forth—only to vanish in the very next instant.

A moment later, spatial fluctuations rippled above the moth's head. The green threads materialized from the void and swept downward, wrapping the creature within the flames in a dense web.

But the moth's body flashed with crystal light, and once more those small translucent shields materialized out of thin air, blocking the green threads at the outer layer.

At that moment, the silver firebird finally arrived.
