Chapter 1221: Domineering Across the Human World — Capturing the Nascent Soul

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,079 words

"Activate the formation!" Kui Huan and the woman, who had been watching the seal all along, barked the order in unison the moment they saw what was happening.

Thirty-six disciples of the Luo Cloud Sect simultaneously hurled the formation flags and discs from their hands toward the sky above the seal.

The formation implements blazed with spirit-light, and layers upon layers of five-colored luminescence materialized from thin air, sweeping downward.

The mass of black light had no time to guard itself. It felt nothing but a flash of five-colored radiance before the luminous haze engulfed it, trapping it inside.

The black light, of course, contained the Second Nascent Soul.

When the flames of the Three Flames Fan had enveloped it, it had instinctively unleashed all the demonic Qi that had been coursing through its body in a desperate bid for survival. In doing so, although the demonic Qi was reduced to nothing by the flames and even its demonic body had been more than half refined away, the unexpected result was that the Nascent Soul's demonic corruption was undone — its spiritual awareness returned in an instant.

True to the memories it had inherited from , in that life-or-death moment it had decisively self-detonated the demonic artifact, the Crimson Blood Sword, to break through the three-colored flames. Then, fearing that would give chase with the Wind Lightning Wings, it gritted its teeth and self-detonated the Luo Banner it had painstakingly repaired as well.

The self-detonation of these two treasures was no small matter. Caught off guard, had actually been unable to prevent it, and the Nascent Soul had seized that sliver of a chance to escape right from under his nose.

However, it was well aware that such measures could never hold off for long. It had already made up its mind — the moment it fled the Demonic Abyss, it would immediately use the Nascent Soul's teleportation technique to escape to one of the Seven Spirit Islands.

As a precaution, it had long since prepared a hidden refuge on one of the islands. It had even deployed several special treasures and set up an exceptionally sophisticated concealment array to mask its aura, confident that it could elude 's spiritual sense scan and buy itself time to recover.

But what the Second Nascent Soul had never anticipated was that — who had always preferred to act alone — had, this time, gathered such a large number of low-level cultivators outside the seal and pre-arranged a formation of considerable power to block the exit, waiting precisely for it to walk right into the trap!

Now trapped within the luminous haze, the Second Nascent Soul was naturally furious and alarmed.

Its tiny hands flailed wildly at the surrounding five-colored light, sending streak after streak of pitch-black sword Qi slashing outward in all directions.

But the five-colored luminance proved remarkably resilient. Although most of the sword Qi cleaved through it, the light flickered and restored itself in the blink of an eye, leaving the Second Nascent Soul no opening to escape.

Seeing this, the Nascent Soul's expression turned ugly. It pressed its palms together, rubbed them vigorously, then thrust them outward simultaneously.

Two beams of black light shot forth, then instantly transformed into massive swords over a dozen feet long, hacking savagely down at the same spot.

The cultivators who had been desperately channeling the formation flags and discs could no longer hold on.

With two thunderous booms, the five-colored light was split open into a hole several feet across. Although spirit-light flickered at the edges, the hole was simply too large, and the cultivators' Magical Power could not be replenished quickly enough — the gap did not close.

The Second Nascent Soul was overjoyed. It flickered, executed the teleportation technique, and vanished from within the luminous haze.

The next instant, amid a flicker of black light, the dark-green Nascent Soul materialized outside the five-colored barrier.

It glared viciously at the crowd of cultivators, then formed a series of hand seals, about to chain several teleportations together to flee the area.

But at that very moment, a gentle breeze wafted in front of it, and a figure emerged from the wind.

"No!" Without a moment's thought, the Second Nascent Soul moved first, disappearing from its spot before the newcomer could act.

The figure who had materialized with the wind was, of course, — who had just caught up using the Wind Lightning Wings.

Seeing the Second Nascent Soul vanish the instant it laid eyes on him, 's expression darkened. He let out a cold snout.

A thin, crimson slit opened between his brows of its own accord. A wisp of black gas spilled rapidly from within, then condensed and took shape, forming a pitch-black eyeball that fixed its eerie gaze upon the distance.

A streak of black light shot forth in a flash and struck empty air over twenty zhang away, detonating on its own.

The black light faded, and the Second Nascent Soul stumbled into view, its small face turned upward in an expression of pure, disbelieving terror.

smirked coldly, opened his mouth, and spat out a small azure cauldron. He snatched it from the air, then beat the green-and-white wings on his back once and melted silently into the wind.

The Second Nascent Soul glanced back and saw this. Its heart screamed danger. It moved at once, transforming into a streak of black light to shoot away.

But at that very moment, a spray of azure threads burst from the void, scattering like something that had been lying in wait — and bound the Nascent Soul tight, tying it up in a firm, fivefold knot.

Though shocked, the Second Nascent Soul unleashed countless streams of pitch-black sword Qi from its entire body, trying to tear free.

After a string of muffled explosions and flashes of dark radiance, the azure threads remained utterly unscathed.

The dark-green Nascent Soul was truly frightened now. Just as it was about to resort to other secret techniques to escape, a flash of azure lightning appeared, and materialized nearby, the small cauldron resting on his upturned palm.

Seeing the Second Nascent Soul still struggling, the cold light in his eyes sharpened. He flicked a finger gently against the cauldron.

A soft "ding" rang out. The cauldron lid lifted on its own, and a column of azure radiance surged skyward.
