Chapter 807. The Despicable Fellow

The most important thing was to have patience, allowing them to clearly sense that he bore no ill will whatsoever. Only then would they drop their guard and initiate communication on their own.

In this process, even a hint of impatience could ruin everything—triggering their instincts and provoking all manner of trouble.

Deep within a section of the dense forest, Yang Kai stood perfectly still, suppressing his aura entirely until he merged seamlessly with his surroundings. His spiritual sense radiated outward continuously, projecting his goodwill.

The demon beasts lurking nearby had all retreated to concealed positions, their savage eyes fixed on the spot where Yang Kai stood.

Time trickled by. Yang Kai remained unhurried.

It took a full half-day before he finally heard a rustling sound nearby. Turning to look, he spotted a massive demon beast—its body as large as a tiger, covered in brilliantly patterned fur—slowly emerging from its hiding spot.

Rustle, rustle, rustle…

One after another, demon beasts revealed themselves, forming an iron-tight circle from every direction and encircling Yang Kai.

Yang Kai swept his gaze around and felt his spirits lift.

These demon beasts came in all shapes and sizes, yet every single one was extraordinarily majestic in appearance, looking every bit the part of a fearsome and imposing creature.

When they had closed to roughly a dozen zhang from Yang Kai, they stopped. Low growls rumbled from their throats. At the same time, Yang Kai sensed that they too had extended their spiritual sense, attempting to communicate something with him.

But their spiritual intelligence was undeveloped, and they simply could not clearly convey what they wished to say.

Yang Kai smiled faintly and sent a message through his spiritual sense: "Greetings, everyone. I have no ulterior motives for coming here, so please don't worry. I only wish to meet your Great Sovereign. If it's convenient, could one of you guide me there?"

The moment the message went out, a furious roar erupted from the tiger-like demon beast, as though it were demanding to know why Yang Kai wanted to see the Great Sovereign.

"I have matters to discuss with him," Yang Kai answered patiently.

The assembled demon beasts fell silent. They turned their heads to look at one another, seemingly unable to reach a decision.

After quite some time, the tiger-like beast finally raised its head and let out a thunderous howl that shook the eardrums.

Yang Kai furrowed his brow slightly but showed no real impatience, simply standing where he was and waiting.

He had no idea where the Demon Sovereign actually was, so his only option was to seek the help of these semi-sentient beasts.

After that howl rang out, another answering cry echoed from deep within the forest. Then, one after another, howls came from ever-farther away, relayed like a chain, growing fainter with each transmission.

Yang Kai's eyes brightened with understanding. He simply crossed his legs and sat down, producing several bottles of pills from his robes and tossing them toward the demon beasts as a gesture of goodwill.

These were pills he had casually refined, capable of enhancing the circulation of True Essence within the body and providing benefits for Cultivation.

The demon beasts drew closer, lowering their heads to sniff at the pills.

Demon beasts possessed an innate instinct to seek fortune and avoid calamity—they could naturally discern danger. Although these pills were not of particularly high grade, each one brimmed with spiritual energy, and it quickly caught their interest.

Before long, the pills had been snatched up by the swarm of demon beasts and swallowed down like so many beans. They then regarded Yang Kai with expectant gazes.

Yang Kai shook his head with a wry smile. Left with no other choice, he produced several more bottles of pills.

Roughly half an hour later, Yang Kai—who had been sitting cross-legged on the ground—suddenly stiffened, his expression turning sharp as he turned to look in one direction.

From that direction, an arrogant and untamed aura was approaching with startling speed.

Moreover, whoever was coming was far from weak—at the very least, a third-level Transcendent Realm cultivator. Converted to a demon beast's ranking, that would be a peak seventh-grade beast!

BOOM…

A burly figure plummeted from the sky and crashed into the ground not far in front of Yang Kai, striking like a falling meteor. Dust billowed outward, and the resulting shockwave of air blasted in all directions, setting the great trees swaying wildly.

The demon beasts that had been clustered around Yang Kai were startled and scattered in every direction.

Yang Kai narrowed his eyes and looked ahead, seeing a tall, powerfully built man who appeared to be around forty years of age standing before him, looking down with undisguised contempt.

What caught Yang Kai's attention was the man's attire—he wore nothing more than simple garments fashioned from beast hide. His wild hair stood in unruly spikes, and a thick coat of dark fur covered his body, whipping about in the wind.

At first glance, the man resembled a maddened lion—wild and unrestrained.

A demon beast!

Yang Kai instantly identified his identity. Those relayed howls he had heard earlier must have been the demon beasts sending him word. Once this powerful demon cultivator received the message, he had rushed over at once.

His eyes blazed with hostility and a bloodthirsty gleam. The demon beasts that had been peacefully coexisting with Yang Kai moments ago seemed to have been infected by his mood—every one of them now bared its fangs and snarled savagely at Yang Kai.
