In the white, misty world, everyone moved about like headless chickens. The Saintess from the Nine Heavens Holy Land once again approached Yang Kai to ask him something.
Yang Kai slowly shook his head, gave her a glance, and suddenly chuckled softly.
"What are you laughing at?" The Saintess frowned. "I've realized you're really quite detestable."
"Then why come talk to me?"
"I don't know anyone else here, and what if they recognize me as the Saintess..." Ever since arriving here, she had been hiding and darting about, not daring to show herself too openly. After all, the powerhouses of the Seven Family Alliance had previously welcomed her at the island's edge and would certainly remember her appearance.
The Saintess was always a symbol of nobility and purity. If news of today's events got out, it would not only damage her reputation but likely tarnish the prestige of the Nine Heavens Holy Land as well.
So she feared being recognized. Even though she didn't particularly like Yang Kai, she had no choice but to seek him out.
"We probably can't get out," Yang Kai continued to shake his head, letting out a soft sigh.
"What?!" The Saintess's beautiful face drained of color. "Are we going to be trapped here for life?"
"Very likely!" Yang Kai nodded solemnly.
"Don't scare me! I haven't found the Holy Master yet..." The Saintess panicked as expected. Through their past interactions, Yang Kai had come to see that this silly girl was rather pure-hearted and didn't understand the darkness of human nature—likely a result of her elevated position.
Unlike Yang Kai, who had ventured out into the world from a very young age, accustomed to great storms and trials, able to remain calm in any situation without overreacting.
"I heard that the Holy Masters of your Nine Heavens Holy Land are all found by the Saintess when she goes out to search? Do you have some special method to verify if someone is the Holy Master?" Yang Kai's curiosity suddenly surged, and he asked.
"Why do you ask? I naturally have my own methods!" The Saintess grew slightly wary. "This is something only the Saintess of our Nine Heavens Holy Land can do. Even if you ask, I won't tell you."
"Just curious!" Yang Kai shrugged. "If you won't say, forget it."
The Saintess fell silent, seemingly afraid Yang Kai would continue probing the Holy Land's secrets. She quietly moved a little farther away from him.
Time passed. The hundred-odd warriors kept searching ceaselessly, but found nothing.
Gradually, agitation, panic, and unease—these emotions spread through the white, misty space. The warriors cursed under their breath as they searched.
The powerhouses from the Seven Family Alliance also wore grim expressions.
They too realized the severity of the situation.
If that sphere of light had forcibly pulled everyone's divine sense into this unknown space and there was no exit, then they could only wait for death here!
Everyone present had a cultivation base of at least the seventh level of the Shenyou Realm. Their divine sense had left their bodies, but their physical forms still remained outside. While they wouldn't perish in the short term, if too much time passed, their bodies would definitely die.
Once their bodies died, their divine sense would become like trees without roots, water without a source. Unless they could find a suitable new body to inhabit, they would quickly dissipate.
The terror of death spread, and the atmosphere among the crowd grew increasingly tense.
Yang Kai observed coldly from the sidelines, sensing that something bad was about to happen. He kept himself on the periphery of the group, quietly alert.
The Saintess from the Nine Heavens Holy Land was also acting strangely; she seemed fixed on Yang Kai. Wherever he went, she followed, maintaining a distance that was neither too far nor too close.
Yang Kai ignored her presence, allowing her to trail behind him.
He didn't know how long passed before everyone finally abandoned the search for an exit. Because there was simply no exit to find!
Everyone remained where they were, resting, their faces dark with despair.
Suddenly, the sound of an argument drifted from one direction. It seemed two warriors had gotten into a squabble. Neither was willing to back down, and their quarrel escalated, quickly reaching the point of blows. This argument acted like a spark, igniting the pent-up irritability of many others.
"Old man, if it weren't for you insisting on breaking through that invisible barrier, we wouldn't be in this mess! Now we're all trapped here—what do you have to say for yourself?!" someone suddenly shouted at the elder surnamed Cheng.
Following his shout, more warriors joined in the condemnation, as if everyone believed their current plight was entirely the fault of that elder Cheng.
Even several members of the Seven Family Alliance stared at him with discontent.
Elder Cheng's face was gloomy. He let out a few cold laughs: "Everyone, that statement is quite incorrect. Although I was the one who gathered you all, before breaking through that barrier, not a single person opposed or tried to stop it. You all harbored thoughts of exploring and searching for treasure in that palace behind it, didn't you? Now, after the fact, you shift all the blame onto me? Isn't that rather unreasonable?"
"No matter what, you're the one who led everyone into this. If we can't find a way out, just you wait to die!"
"Exactly! Your Cheng family must take responsibility for finding a way out, or you'll be sorry!"
