In the underground chamber of the Octagonal Tower, Yang Kai maintained the Demonic Transformation, feeling the power and writhing of the demonic runes within. His blood surged through his veins, his aura terrifyingly formidable.
In the distance, the three great commanders of the Ancient Demon Clan were all watching his every move. Each nodded from time to time, their faces showing approval.
During these recent days, they had witnessed Yang Kai's growth, and a natural sense of relief had emerged within them – the successor to the Demon God was no ordinary person.
The only thing that gave Lirong a headache was that, even now, she hadn't found any effective or feasible method to make Yang Kai develop a sense of belonging to the Ancient Demon Clan.
Boom!
A thunderous roar erupted. Centered on Yang Kai, a burst of violent energy suddenly exploded outward. The three commanders' expressions changed as they simultaneously struck out, unleashing streams of mysterious energy that formed a barrier, enveloping the chamber.
The berserk energy rampaged within the barrier. Yang Kai's face was strained as he fought to control the rampage of power within his body. It took a good while before things gradually stabilized.
Lirong and the others exchanged glances, worry flickering across their faces. They quickly flew over, landing beside Yang Kai, and asked softly, "What's wrong?"
Yang Kai's brow was tightly furrowed. After a long moment, he shook his head. "It's nothing. Just a bit restless."
"Restless?" Lirong was surprised. She hadn't expected someone as composed and steady as Yang Kai to show such a side.
"It's nothing major. I'm heading back for now. That's enough cultivation for today." Yang Kai said, then turned and left without looking back.
Watching his retreating figure, the three commanders fell silent for a moment.
"He's not the type suited to grow in a greenhouse," Huamo suddenly sighed deeply.
"I'm afraid even here gives him a feeling of constraint," Han Fei gently nodded. Although, since Chu Jian's death, the three commanders had no intention of restricting Yang Kai's freedom and had even arranged everything for him, within this small mystic realm, he would inevitably feel like a prisoner.
The Ancient Demon Clan had grown up here. Even if their members longed to see the outside world, they wouldn't be repulsed by this place.
But he was different. He had suddenly been snatched from a vast world and brought here. It was inevitable that he would feel out of place.
The three commanders were no fools; they could naturally see what Yang Kai was truly restless about.
"It seems we can't keep him much longer," Lirong said with a bitter smile.
"I'll go talk to him," Han Fei suddenly said through gritted teeth.
"That might be good. See if there are other reasons. If we can help, let him not hesitate," Lirong instructed.
Han Fei gently nodded.
Inside the stone chamber, Yang Kai held the medicinal herbs in his hands, unable for a long time to focus his mind or muster any interest in refining pills.
A faint fragrance suddenly wafted to his nose. Yang Kai looked up. Han Fei stood before him, dressed in her cool, elegant attire, her aura aloof and mysterious.
"Is there any trouble you need to tell me about?" Han Fei asked softly.
"Trouble?" Yang Kai was startled, then smiled. "What trouble could I have?"
"Then what are you being restless about?"
"Hard to say," Yang Kai slowly shook his head, clearly unwilling to open up.
"You just don't want to say, do you?" Han Fei's gaze pierced into him.
Yang Kai's expression became amused. "What? Is Commander Han Fei now in charge of offering guidance? You're not cut out for that. If anyone were to guide me, Lirong would be more suitable."
"Why wouldn't I be suitable?" Han Fei immediately bristled.
"You're always looking like you want people to stay away. How can you expect anyone to open up to you?" Yang Kai chuckled.
Han Fei pouted. "One thing has nothing to do with the other. It's perfectly normal for a young man to have troubles. Besides, I've lived many more years than you. My life experience is richer, too. I've been your age, and if you're willing, you can certainly tell me about it. There's little I can't help guide you through."
"Even matters between men and women?" Yang Kai asked teasingly.
Han Fei was immediately choked into silence, her delicate body trembling slightly. In her entire life, she had never given her heart to any man, so she naturally had no idea what romantic love was like. If Yang Kai was truly troubled by such things, she was utterly helpless.
"So you just want to leave the Small Mystic Realm that badly?" Han Fei suddenly demanded coldly.
"When did I ever say that?" Yang Kai felt bewildered.
"Isn't that it? The reason for your restlessness is entirely because this world is restraining you!"
"A little, perhaps," Yang Kai admitted frankly. "It makes me feel... uncomfortable here."
"Even though we've been so sincere towards you?"
"That's not about you. I just have some things I haven't taken care of. I need to find a few people," Yang Kai shook his head, not understanding what she was indignant about.
"I see." Han Fei took a deep breath, her full chest rising and falling dramatically with surprising elasticity. "But don't worry. We couldn't keep you here long in any case. You'll be able to leave this place in a little while."
