Chapter 647. This Strong?

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,025 words

Seeing the changes in this Demon Race warrior, Yang Kai wore an indifferent expression, though inwardly he was extremely surprised.

He had seen these pattern-like markings on many Demon Race people before, though there were also plenty who didn't possess them. Li Rong, Wan'er, and the others, for instance—at least on their exposed skin, Yang Kai had never noticed any markings.

Now it seemed that wasn't because they lacked them, but rather that, just like this Demon Race warrior before him, they could manifest and retract them at will!

Once these patterns emerged, a Demon Race person's strength would rise an entire level!

The opponent's aura surged like a tide, and Pan Lang and the others wore expressions of complete composure, looking as though Yang Kai was about to suffer greatly, gloating openly.

Yang Kai took a deep breath and didn't dodge. Instead, contrary to everyone's expectations, he charged straight into the blow.

He specifically wanted to check how much this Demon Race warrior's strength had actually increased.

BOOM—

A tremendous sound erupted. A visible shockwave radiated outward from the point of collision, centered on the two fighters. Yang Kai flew backward, tumbling several times through the air before stabilizing himself.

The Demon Race warrior was also forced to retreat continuously. Despite straining to hold his ground, he failed—stumbling back a dozen or so steps before collapsing flat on his back, panting heavily.

Pan Lang and the others couldn't help but widen their eyes, staring at Yang Kai with disbelief.

Though humans rarely appeared within the Small Mystic World, they all knew that the Ancient Demon Clan's physical constitution was superior to any other race. Even other Demon Race people couldn't be mentioned in the same breath as the Ancient Demon Clan.

Yet now, in a head-on collision, their own companion had actually fought to a draw with a human.

Pan Lang was furious. "What are you doing? You can't even handle a single human?"

The Demon Race warrior who had fallen picked himself up for the second time, shook his head, and—completely unconcerned about his injuries and broken bones—said in a muffled voice, "This kid's body is pretty solid too."

"No matter how solid, can it compare to our Ancient Demon Clan?" Pan Lang's expression was ferocious. "You have one last chance to prove yourself. If you fail again, you won't be qualified to operate with me anymore. At that point you'll be demoted to a common clansman."

"Don't worry. I'll deal with him properly this time!" The Demon Race warrior nodded solemnly. As he spoke, the patterns on his face underwent another unusual change. The markings seemed to melt and spread, covering his entire face until he looked as though he were wearing a mask, his expression blank and stiff. But his crimson eyes radiated a bone-chilling killing intent.

Having failed twice already had ignited his genuine fury.

Yang Kai hovered in midair, watching coldly from the sidelines, his heart growing ever more astonished.

Only now did he truly realize how formidable the bodies of these Demon Race people living in the Small Mystic World were. This warrior fighting him had a cultivation of only the seventh level of the Shenyou Realm—the same as his own—yet he could repeatedly boost his momentum and strength. Such means were simply unheard of.

With this level of cultivation, if it were a human warrior of the same rank from the outside world, taking a single hit from Yang Kai would be enough to knock them down for good. But this guy, after being seriously wounded twice in a row, was still as vigorous as ever.

Within the bodies of the Ancient Demon Clan, there seemed to lurk extraordinarily terrifying potential!

From Pan Lang and the others' attitude and words, Yang Kai also realized that the warriors of the Ancient Demon Clan were all bloodthirsty, war-loving beings. Their companion had just had a row of his ribs broken by Yang Kai, yet not only did they show no concern—they kept provoking him, goading him to redeem himself.

This race was indeed very different from humans. Yang Kai shook his head inwardly.

Over there, the Demon Race warrior had already launched another attack. A muffled air-burst suddenly erupted from beneath his feet, and his burly body vanished from Yang Kai's sight in an instant.

His speed had reached an extreme. He had pushed his body into a state of near-dissolution.

Pan Lang nodded slightly. "The second unfolding of the Demon Marks—this human kid is going to suffer!"

As soon as the words left his mouth, another tremendous crash rang out.

The vanished Demon Race warrior reappeared—one leg raised high, pressing down on Yang Kai's shoulder. His expression was sinister, his eyes brimming with resentment and defiance as he unleashed every ounce of power in his body.

A dozen or so zhang beneath Yang Kai, the stone pavement instantly turned to powder. But he stood as immovable as a mountain, regarding the Demon Race warrior with indifference. Under the warrior's stunned gaze, Yang Kai grabbed his ankle, swung him around like a windmill several times, and hurled him violently upward.

The Demon Race warrior shouted in alarm. True essence surged from his body's acupoints, attempting to halt his ascent. But before he could stabilize, his chest and abdomen suddenly received heavy, relentless blows.

Straining to turn his head, he saw that human kid had actually followed alongside him in midair. Seizing the moment when he couldn't control his center of gravity, Yang Kai was unleashing devastating attacks!

His fists were already swinging so fast their trajectories had become invisible, fist shadows filling the sky.

And from his fists surged waves of pure, scorching true essence that clashed with the warrior's demonic energy, causing it to instinctively recoil in fear!

BOOM BOOM BOOM—

Explosions rang out one after another. Yang Kai attacked with fierce abandon. Though his face showed no expression, in his heart he was thoroughly impressed by this Demon Race warrior.

This barrage of attacks would have been more than enough to overwhelm a human of the Transcendent Realm, yet this Demon Race warrior had weathered it all.
