At Feng Huan Lou, Yang Kai sat with his eyes closed, meditating and absorbing the residual energy left behind by the Spider Queen's death, strengthening his own power and deepening his comprehension of the Heavenly Dao and martial arts.
A bewitching, faint fragrance drifted to his nose, and Yang Kai slowly opened his eyes—only to find that Bi Luo, the little maid, had half-knelt before him. Her beautiful eyes shimmered with an unusual light as she studied him with open curiosity.
"What are you doing?" Yang Kai asked warily. The girl had always harbored hostility toward him, so her sudden adoring gaze made him uncomfortable.
"I just realized—you're really amazing!" Bi Luo chattered away. "How on earth did you kill the Spider Queen all by yourself? It was a seventh-rank demon beast! Even my lady said that even at full strength, she probably couldn't have done anything to the Spider Queen. The Thunder Beast King only had a cooperative relationship with it and never managed to subdue it either. Tell me—what methods did you use? You even brought back its demon core!"
It seemed that after Yang Kai had rescued Shan Qingluo, whatever grudge Bi Luo had held against him had vanished in an instant.
Yang Kai furrowed his brow but didn't answer. Instead, he asked, "How is your lady now?"
"Everything's fine. Her Poison Widow physique is still there, but the toxins inside her body seem to have been neutralized." Bi Luo pressed her lips together with a smile, radiating captivating charm that made Yang Kai's eyes light up. Bi Luo was already an alluring woman—something she'd likely picked up from spending years by Shan Qingluo's side. On top of that, she cultivated the same charm techniques, so while her allure couldn't quite match Shan Qingluo's, it was far beyond what ordinary women could possess. "My lady is currently pushing hard to break through her bottleneck. Once she comes out of seclusion, her strength should advance to the next level."
"That's good." Yang Kai let out a breath of relief. "Then what happened between her and me is settled."
After a moment's thought, he said, "Well, if she's in seclusion, I won't wait for her. I need to get back to Zhongdu and check on things. When she comes out, let her know for me."
"You can't leave!" Bi Luo suddenly lunged forward and grabbed his arm tightly.
Yang Kai stared at her, startled. "What would I stay for? There's nothing for me to do here anymore."
"Just don't go! The first person my lady will want to see when she comes out of seclusion will be you! If you leave, she'll be heartbroken."
"Can you stop being so ridiculous?" Yang Kai rubbed his temples, exasperated.
Bi Luo's eyes darted around, and she suddenly let out a playful laugh. "If you stay, I'll show you something good."
"What?"
Bi Luo's cheeks flushed pink. Then her expression hardened with resolve, and she stood up abruptly. With a light shake of her body, her clothing shredded into pieces and fell away, revealing a flawless, snow-white figure with perfect proportions. The sight was instantly laid bare before Yang Kai's eyes—radiant as fine jade, gleaming with an otherworldly luster, utterly mesmerizing.
Her snow-white, supple breasts stood proudly erect, dazzling enough to make one's head spin. Her flat, taut stomach without a hint of excess flesh, the tantalizing mystery hidden below that only fueled the imagination, and her long, slender legs pressed together shyly—none of it could conceal the intoxicating allure radiating from her.
She stood right before Yang Kai, completely bare. Her curves were captivating enough to make any man's blood run hot—she was exquisitely beautiful, like a work of art that stirred an overwhelming urge to ravish her.
Her pretty face was flushed crimson, the delicate white of her neck tinged with red. She bit her scarlet lip and couldn't quite bring herself to meet Yang Kai's eyes.
"Is it beautiful?" Bi Luo whispered, her voice as faint as a mosquito's hum.
Yang Kai's expression shifted, a flash of surprise crossing his face, and the impatient look he'd been wearing was replaced by a spark of heated desire.
But only for an instant. His gaze quickly returned to clarity, and a strange smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Don't you prefer women? Something doesn't add up here. Why are you getting flustered over me?"
Bi Luo fidgeted awkwardly. "Well… men aren't so bad either. Can't I go both ways?"
Yang Kai's face darkened.
"Fine, fine." Bi Luo suddenly pouted. "It was my lady who said it. She's not in any condition to attend to you right now, so she asked me to take her place. First, to ease the frustrations you've been bottling up, and second, as a thank-you for everything you've done for her. After she comes out of seclusion, she'll handle things personally."
As she spoke, all her earlier shyness evaporated. With bold, uninhibited movements, she pushed Yang Kai down, straddled him with a wild grace, and giggled while tapping her scarlet lips with a slender finger, looking every bit the picture of shameless seduction. "How do you want to play? Today I'll let you do whatever you want—anything at all."
Yang Kai reached out, lifted her off him, grabbed the bedding from the bed, and draped it over her. Without a word, he stepped down and walked away.
"You—" Bi Luo was dumbfounded, staring at him in disbelief.
Last time he'd been a guest at Feng Huan Lou, she hadn't even wanted it, yet he'd practically forced her to take something. Now she was throwing herself at him willingly, and he was completely unmoved?
Was he even a man?
"I'm not in the mood," Yang Kai said softly, shaking his head.
Su Yan had been taken to another realm by Meng Wuya—he had no idea how things were over there. On top of that, there were too many matters to handle. He genuinely had no inclination to dabble in romance, especially not with Bi Luo, whose tastes were bizarre and whose behavior defied all reason. If he let himself get tangled up with her, he'd never shake her off.
"Enchantress…" Yang Kai murmured again.
Shan Qingluo's voice echoed through his mind at once: "You little brat, since when did you become so proper?"
Her divine sense had been monitoring the situation the whole time—how could Yang Kai not have noticed?
"I've always been proper," Yang Kai snorted.
Shan Qingluo let out a clear, tinkling laugh, clearly not believing him.
After a long pause, she finally sighed wistfully, "You're leaving, aren't you?"
"Mm." Yang Kai nodded gently.
