Chapter 5908: Severing the Tail to Survive

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,059 words

Yet when the vast multitude of Eight-Rank Small Stone Clan members appeared, Monaye's resolve wavered. He had no idea whether the Supreme One's clone could still protect itself against such a method.

But there was no time for deliberation. His battle with Mi Jinglun had already swung entirely against him, and any further distraction could prove fatal. He could only banish all stray thoughts and focus.

On the other side, more than two thousand Eight-Rank Small Stone Clan members charged straight toward the Ink Colossus at Yang Kai's command. Each of these Small Stone Clan members was towering in stature, yet before the Ink Colossus they remained as insignificant as ants.

The scene was akin to a swarm of ants besieging an elephant. One by one, the Eight-Rank Small Stone Clan members clambered onto every part of the Ink Colossus's body, gripping tenaciously with both hands and feet.

Yang Kai thrust both palms forward, the Sun and Moon Marks on the backs of his hands blazing with a radiance more brilliant than anything they had ever displayed. As his fists clenched tight, he bellowed: "Detonate!"

Under the guidance of the Sun and Moon Marks, every last Eight-Rank Small Stone Clan member erupted in a dual glow of yellow and blue, as though the light flowed from within their very bodies—pure and concentrated Sun and Yin power of extraordinary density.

Bit by bit, the light spread like ink dropped into clear water, rapidly expanding into halos that merged and connected with one another, merging into a vast sheet that blanketed an enormous stretch of empty void.

In a mere three breaths, the yellow and blue hues dissolved and vanished, replaced by a blinding white light so pure it contained not a single impurity.

The white light was not initially overwhelming, but after a momentary collapse and compression, it exploded outward in all directions.

The entire sprawling battlefield was engulfed in brilliance in that single instant. Every combatant on the field—Human and Ink Race alike, regardless of cultivation level, even those as powerful as the King Lord and Ninth-Rank beings—found their vision completely whited out, all images lost, utterly unable to see.

The deafening, carnage-filled battlefield fell into an eerie silence for a brief moment, as though time itself had ceased to flow.

That light, pure to the extreme and explosive to the extreme, pierced through the barriers of the void and shone deep into the Ink Battlefield.

Compared to the burst of Purification Light from the destroyed Ink-Driving Vessel, this spectacle made the former look like a firefly competing with the full moon.

Since humanity had first mastered the use of Purification Light to counter the Ink Force, there had never been a burst of Purification Light on such a colossal scale.

It was the method Yang Kai had unleashed by sacrificing a full two thousand Eight-Rank Small Stone Clan members in one go. Its terrifying power was something even Yang Kai himself could not have predicted.

On a stretch of battlefield near the source of the Purification Light's eruption, a considerable Ink Race army had been holding the defensive line. But once the light exploded, within just a few breaths, a massive number of Ink Race presences along that front withered and died, and even those lucky enough to survive suffered catastrophic drops in their aura.

The eruption of Purification Light brought by those two thousand Eight-Rank Small Stone Clan members had utterly shattered this defensive line with nothing more than its residual shockwave.

Every other sector of the battlefield was affected to varying degrees as well. Nearly all Ink Race warriors touched by the Purification Light suffered some measure of power loss.

A full dozen breaths later, the blinding radiance gradually faded. The eerie silence gave way once more to slaughter and clamor as countless Ink Race creatures howled in agony, their bodies wracked by Ink Force that uncontrollably leaked from their skin—like hapless souls plunged into a vat of boiling oil.

Seeing this, the Human Race army, already pressing the attack with everything it had, was hardly about to let such an opportunity slip by. Purification Light posed an immense threat to the Ink Race, yet it had absolutely no effect on humans. The Ink Race army had been fighting to the death, making many fronts nearly impossible to breach, but now, seizing this golden chance, the various Human divisions surged forward in a single overwhelming push and smashed through defense lines after defense line, routing the Ink Race forces.

Even Yang Kai himself had not expected that deploying this trump card against the Ink Colossus would, to a certain degree, alter the trajectory of the war, saving who knew how many Human soldiers' lives.

Right now, however, he was not watching the two armies on the battlefield. Instead, he turned his gaze toward a particular point in the void, where a colossal figure stood—the Ink Colossus.

This Ink Colossus had originally emerged from the Sacred Spirit Ancestral Ground, the very same one that Xiao Xiao and Wu Qing had jointly restrained for thousands of years. Yang Kai had crossed paths with it on several occasions.

It had never once deigned to look at Yang Kai directly. From its perspective, no matter how powerful Yang Kai might become, he was still nothing more than an ant—a slightly stronger ant or a slightly weaker one made no difference whatsoever.

But now, at last, it was forced to take this overlooked ant seriously. Because this ant actually possessed the means to wound it—though admittedly through external power.

Yang Kai's gaze swept over the Ink Colossus's arm and thigh. What he saw was a shoulder that had been torn clean off, and a thigh that had vanished entirely. Thick, ink-like blood gushed from the gaping wounds, as though two fountains of black ichor had sprung from the void—a spectacular sight.

And its severed arm was now clutched tight in Ada's embrace, while its severed leg was locked between Ada's own thighs.

In the very instant the Purification Light erupted, this creature had chosen to sever its own limbs to escape!

Yang Kai's brow furrowed slightly. Judging from the ragged wounds on the Ink Colossus's shoulder and thigh, these injuries were self-inflicted. Unable to break free from Ada's grip, it had been forced into this drastic measure to regain its freedom.
