Chapter 5701: The Domain Lords' Calamity

January 17, 2020 · 6 min read · 1,118 words

As if nothing had happened, when the Sun-Moon Divine Seal slowly dissipated, the King Lord-grade Mo Nest—hundreds of zhang tall—crumbled into powder and vanished. More than a dozen Innate Domain Lords simultaneously shuddered violently, spewing Mo Blood from their mouths, their auras withering. Countless fine wounds appeared across the surfaces of their bodies and within, and the Mo Power inside them surged forth uncontrollably.

The Domain Lords, already recovering from prior injuries, found themselves in an even worse state.

A dragon's roar exploded through the air. Yang Kai had already charged forward, spear in hand. A vivid dragon phantom materialized upon the Azure Dragon Spear, the great dragon weaving and darting through space with unpredictable fluidity.

The Domain Lords' screams and roars rose and fell in succession.

With the Dao of Space, he sealed the void. His Great Freedom Spear Technique was ghostly and ethereal, unstoppable by any defense. Every thrust of the spear was a thunderous eruption of heaven and earth's majestic power.

One Domain Lord's aura after another was extinguished. Yang Kai was like a tiger plunging into a flock of sheep—under his long spear, not a single one could endure even a single exchange.

If an uninformed human had witnessed this scene, they would have assumed Yang Kai's opponents were mere Mo Race fodder—otherwise, how could he cut through them so effortlessly? But in truth, every single one was a genuine Innate Domain Lord. Given time to recover their strength, each would have been no less formidable than a veteran Eighth-Order human warrior.

But in their grievously wounded state, facing a harbinger of death like Yang Kai, slaughter was the only fate that awaited them.

When a few counterattacks came, Yang Kai did his best to block or evade. Those he couldn't dodge, he took head-on with his physical body. His dragon physique—just one step away from joining the Sacred Dragon sequence—was incredibly durable. Attacks from Domain Lords who couldn't exert their full strength were well within what he could endure.

Thirty breaths later, the chaotic residual waves of power subsided and the dust settled. Floating in the void was a vast quantity of leaked Mo Power, and within it lay numerous severed limbs and torn flesh—but not a trace of life remained. Even Yang Kai had vanished without a trace.

The moment he killed the last Domain Lord, he had already fled to another location.

At the same time Yang Kai appeared and struck at these Domain Lords, elsewhere in the void, Monaye—who was rapidly traveling to rendezvous with them—felt the signals transmitted from the small Mo Nest in his hand and abruptly turned his head to look in a certain direction.

Yang Kai was over there!

Just moments ago, the Domain Lords in that direction had lost contact, and one fewer figure could be seen gathered within the Mo Nest's space. They had clearly met with disaster.

Monaye didn't immediately rush to that direction. He knew that even if he hurried over now, it would be too late. Those heavily wounded Domain Lords, having had their location exposed by that killing star Yang Kai, had essentially already lost any chance of survival. What use would it be for him to rush over now? To collect their corpses?

Rather than wasting time on that, he would be better off thinking carefully about how to more effectively rendezvous with the Domain Lords who were still alive.

His previous arrangements had been insufficiently thought through. To guard against the possibility of Yang Kai accidentally stumbling upon the Domain Lords' movements, these Mo Race powerhouses who had snuck out of the Primordial Great Seal had all been placed by Monaye at considerable distances from No Return Pass. As a result, reaching the Pass now would require a great deal of time—and the longer the journey, the greater the chance of unexpected developments.

Yet his earlier arrangements had been made out of necessity. If Monaye wanted to conceal this formidable force, it could not be discovered by Yang Kai.

This fellow was stationed permanently around the outer perimeter of No Return Pass. Monaye couldn't exactly have the Domain Lords come to the Pass, so he could only place them further out. And considering that Yang Kai might roam around, carrying the risk of stumbling upon them, he had placed them a bit too far away…

Who would have thought that what had been a sound strategy at the time would become the foreshadowing of today's calamity.

The Domain Lords would need at least half a year to reach No Return Pass. In that half year, Yang Kai would have plenty of time to act. He was a master of the Grand Dao of Space who could traverse the void—in the eyes of ordinary people, distances that seemed impossibly far were nothing more than a short step to him.

To save more Domain Lords, he either had to find Yang Kai and pin him down, leaving him no opportunity to continue his killing, or he had to rendezvous with those Domain Lords as quickly as possible and provide close protection.

The former was essentially impossible. Even if he got lucky and found Yang Kai, Monaye didn't have the ability to hold him in place. So he could only go with the second plan.

Nearly all the Domain Lords in No Return Pass had been mobilized, and even he himself—a Pseudo King Lord—hadn't been spared. Yet it still wasn't enough.

Against an opponent like Yang Kai, who came without a trace and vanished without a shadow, capable of traversing the void, any strategy felt utterly powerless.

Monaye's heart seethed with hatred, but he could only press onward—doing his utmost and leaving the rest to fate!

While the Mo Race struggled with how to safely rendezvous with one another, Yang Kai faced his own challenge: how to find those Domain Lords.

Though they no longer hid—and each group of Domain Lords even carried with them a half-hatched King Lord-grade Mo Nest—finding enemies in the vast expanse of the void was no easy task.

If he knew where Monaye had placed those Domain Lords, Yang Kai could have intercepted them along the route to No Return Pass. The crux of the matter was that he didn't know their original hiding positions.

All he could do was expand his search area as much as possible while taking into account the Domain Lords' travel speed and calculating where they might appear.

His efforts did yield some results. On lucky days, he would run into a group of Domain Lords heading toward No Return Pass within a few days. On unlucky days, even ten days or half a month would pass without a single encounter.
