The five Evil Kings spoke this way, clearly placing immense confidence in
Yang Bai's expression was calm as he said casually, "Let's go take a look."
He too had grown curious about that barrier artifact capable of stopping five Evil Kings.
Arriving outside
The Evil Kings waited in silence, not particularly anxious.
After a long while, Yang Bai finally shook his head. "There's nothing I can do about this thing."
"What?" everyone exclaimed, their expressions turning strange.
They had all personally experienced the formidable power of Evil King Yang Bai and had always believed him to be the most powerful expert under heaven. But now, hearing such an answer from his own lips, several of them could hardly believe it.
Even their Master couldn't break through this barrier?
"Interesting. This artifact has exceeded the boundaries of this world — it's not something someone of our realm could possess. Who brought it out?" A faint smile appeared on Yang Bai's face as he asked.
"That person." The Poison King gestured toward
Yang Bai immediately turned his gaze to Meng Wuya. The two faced each other from dozens of zhang apart, and a hint of respect and longing welled up in the Evil Master's eyes. Meng Wuya, on the other hand, remained composed and indifferent even while looking at the Evil Master — as though he stood high above the clouds, gazing down upon the other.
Yang Bai then turned to look at Earth Demon among the crowd and offered a warm smile, a touch of familiarity appearing on his face as he nodded gently. "Hello there!"
"Jie jie jie jie..." Earth Demon let out his strange cackling laugh.
No one understood why the two of them were exchanging greetings as though they were old acquaintances. Only Yang Kai seemed to be pondering something.
If he guessed correctly, the reason Evil Master Yang Bai had achieved such mastery of his sinister arts and attained his current level of power was precisely because of that demonic corpse beneath Kunlong Gorge.
During the years he had been trapped in Kunlong Gorge, Yang Bai must have gleaned cultivation methods from that corpse, inheriting the demon's legacy. That was how his strength had progressed so rapidly, granting him such extraordinary abilities.
And that very corpse now belonged to Earth Demon, whose spiritual soul had taken up residence within it, draining all the demonic energy beneath Kunlong Gorge and successfully completing his possession.
One had inherited the demon's legacy; the other had seized the demon's corpse. Born of the same origin, the two of them naturally shared a subtle spiritual resonance.
Yang Bai turned again, his expression growing solemn. He bowed slightly and spoke in a deep voice, "Master!"
Yang Bai straightened up and said evenly, "A teacher for a day is a teacher for life. Whether you acknowledge it or not, I, Yang Bai, have had only one master in my lifetime."
The people of Yang Kai's residence suddenly remembered that Ling Taixu and the Evil Master had once been master and disciple.
Though being able to single-handedly raise such a disciple was something to be proud of, everyone could hear the remorse and regret in Ling Taixu's tone.
If only he had killed this rebellious disciple outright back then, instead of crippling his cultivation and casting him into Kunlong Gorge to fend for himself — the world would not have seen so many innocent sacrifices and rivers of blood.
"I heard that Master has resolved the knot in his heart and successfully broken through. Yang Bai is very pleased." The Evil Master stared at Ling Taixu, his expression serene.
"Thanks to you, this old man has turned a blessing in disguise." Ling Taixu's face was grim as dark water.
"Master taught this disciple for many years. This disciple should at least contribute something in return." As Yang Bai said this, not a trace of guilt showed on his face, immediately souring the mood among the
Ling Taixu let out a cold snort, his gaze icy.
In the past, he had placed tremendous expectations on this second disciple, privately believing that he and the eldest could achieve great heights, and had nurtured him with care. But now, his disappointment in this second disciple was absolute.
"Are you that martial nephew?" Yang Bai suddenly looked toward Yang Kai in the crowd, his gaze intense. "Come to think of it, this should be our first meeting."
"Martial Uncle, your reputation precedes you." Yang Kai flashed him a grin.
Yang Bai nodded gently. "How is your father?"
Yang Kai let out a cold laugh, his eyes sharp as the edge of a blade. "Thanks to Martial Uncle's concern, my father is doing perfectly well."
"Good." Yang Bai drew a deep breath and said no more.
Everything that needed saying had been said, and all the greetings had been exchanged. The other side was hiding behind that barrier, and there was nothing he could do about it. Lingering here any longer would only waste time.
"Qingluo, stay behind and keep watch on them. Everyone else, come with me." Yang Bai gave the order in a calm tone, then bowed to Ling Taixu before leading the other five Evil Kings away with composed strides.
Only
She couldn't tell whether Yang Bai's arrangement for her to stay and monitor this side held some deeper meaning.
Soon, the warriors and demon beasts from the Cangyun Evil Lands who had gathered in the Battle City assembled together. Under the leadership of Yang Bai and the five Great Evil Kings, they surged toward Zhongdu with overwhelming momentum — clearly intending to launch a fierce surprise attack while Zhongdu's defenses were still unprepared.
Only after those people had truly departed did Shan Qingluo glance at Yang Kai from afar. Then she took a step forward and began walking toward Yang Kai's residence.
