Hearing this, Yang Kai's expression turned somewhat peculiar. He lowered his voice and said, "Senior may not be aware, but over three thousand years ago, when the Human Race Expeditionary Force arrived here, Cang also attempted the same thing—and it ended in disaster!"
Of course, the reason Cang had chosen to open a breach at the time was because circumstances demanded it.
Before the Human Race Expeditionary Force reached this place, Cang had been standing guard here alone for countless years and had long since reached his own limits. The Primordial Heaven Great Restriction didn't merely seal away Mo's true body—it also contained numerous creations of Mo. For Cang to bear such immense pressure single-handedly, the day would inevitably come when he could hold on no longer.
When that day came, the result would be the shattering of the Great Restriction and Mo's true body breaking free—a catastrophe the Human Race simply could not endure.
So after the Human Race Expeditionary Force arrived, Cang followed Wu Kuang's earlier suggestion and opened a breach in the Great Restriction to relieve the pressure on himself.
At first, everything went according to Cang's expectations—until the Ink Colossus appeared!
From within the Great Restriction, an Ink Colossus burst forth, propping open the breach. The Mo Race army poured out in a flood, and the pressure on the Human Race forces intensified dramatically.
Moreover, the Mo power released by the Mo Race experts who perished in the ensuing battle further strengthened the Ink Colossus.
In the end, Cang was forced to invoke the contingency measure Mu had left behind, merging his body with the Restriction. Only then was the Primordial Heaven Great Restriction sealed once more, and Mo fell into slumber.
However, by that time, the Ink Colossus that had been roaming the Ancient Battlefield had already awakened and attacked from the rear. The Human Race army was routed and forced to retreat.
Toward the end of that battle, although Yang Kai had not been present, he had at least personally participated in most of it.
Now, after several thousand years, Wu Kuang was making the same suggestion once more, and Yang Kai couldn't help but feel a measure of concern.
Wu Kuang had clearly inquired about the events of that era as well. Hearing Yang Kai's words, he chuckled. "Accidents are always inevitable."
Yang Kai's expression turned grave. "Senior, are you confident you can reseal the Great Restriction at any time?"
Wu Kuang answered bluntly. "I can't make any guarantees!"
Yang Kai was exasperated. If he couldn't make any guarantees, how could they proceed with such a reckless gamble? The contingency measure Mu had left behind had already been spent. If something else went wrong, the Human Race would have no way to set things right.
However, he quickly realized the crux of the matter and asked tentatively, "Senior, has the pressure become too much for you to bear?"
Having been laid bare by Yang Kai, Wu Kuang couldn't help but sigh. "After all, I only recently advanced to the Ninth Grade. My strength is far from what Cang possessed in his day. On top of that, over all these years, the number of powerful Mo Race beings inside the Great Restriction has only continued to grow. If I don't release some of the pressure soon, the Primordial Heaven Great Restriction will only be broken that much sooner."
"Why didn't you say so earlier?" Yang Kai complained. From Wu Kuang's earlier tone, he had assumed this fellow was holding the Primordial Heaven Great Restriction with ease for the foreseeable future. Who could have guessed they were already on the verge of catastrophe?
Wu Kuang said blandly, "Do I not have my pride?"
Yang Kai was left speechless, unsure what to say to him. His thoughts churned for a moment before he asked the crucial question: "If we proceed as you've described, will it affect Mo's true body?"
"If I told you there would be no effect, you certainly wouldn't believe me. But the contingency measure Mu left behind is formidable. For now, we can only place our trust in her."
"What about the Ink Colossus?" Yang Kai pressed further.
"What the situation is actually like inside the Primordial Heaven Great Restriction—forget about a newly advanced Ninth Grade like myself. Even Cang and Shi and the others couldn't ascertain it back in their day. Only Mu had ventured deep into the Primordial Heaven Great Restriction, but sadly, she merged her body with the Restriction upon returning and left behind no clues. So whether there are still Ink Colossi inside, no one knows. The only thing I can do is attempt to reseal the Great Restriction when I detect something abnormal, and try my best to prevent anything catastrophic from happening."
What he meant was that if an Ink Colossus actually tried to break out from within the Great Restriction, he would simply seal the breach shut. Yang Kai didn't bother asking whether he would be able to do so when the time came—asking would serve no purpose.
Wu Kuang offered some reassurance. "But don't worry too much. Even though Mo's already reached the Creator Realm, the number of Ink Colossi under its command won't be that many."
"What makes you say that?" Yang Kai asked earnestly.
"To forge a being as powerful as an Ink Colossus, Mo must have paid a considerable price. Setting everything else aside, each Ink Colossus requires Mo to infuse a fragment of its primordial spirit. Mo is certainly formidable, but its primordial spirit can't be divided too many times—otherwise, it would pose a tremendous risk to Mo itself."
"Is that just your guess, Senior?" Yang Kai frowned.
"If you're asking for evidence... I do have some." Wu Kuang smiled. "Thousands of years ago, the Mo Race went to extraordinary lengths to awaken that single Ink Colossus in the Sacred Spirit Ancestral Land. That's one piece of evidence. And then there was the Colossus that awakened from the Ancient Battlefield. If Mo truly had many Ink Colossi at its disposal, there would have been no need for all that trouble—they could have simply charged out from the Primordial Heaven Great Restriction."
Yang Kai pondered for a moment and had to admit that Wu Kuang's analysis carried some weight. Of course, he couldn't entirely rule out the possibility that Wu Kuang was simply trying to convince him.
Wu Kuang continued, "So even if there are Ink Colossi within the Primordial Heaven Great Restriction, there won't be many—at most, one or two!"
