Chapter 5424: The Great Sea

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,001 words

Every time he executed a spatial teleportation, he had to endure a shockwave from that Ram-Headed Domain Lord. Once or twice, the injuries might not amount to much, but Yang Kai had long lost count of how many shockwaves he'd endured.

Years of accumulated injuries—even with his Dragon Vein body—were proving impossible to heal.

The Ram-Headed Domain Lord, on the other hand, remained in the same state, showing no signs whatsoever of deterioration.

Yang Kai increased the frequency of his spatial teleportations, which meant it was becoming harder and harder to shake the Ram-Headed Domain Lord's pursuit. He silently calculated that if things continued this way without any change, he feared that within half a year, he would no longer have any chance of escaping. And if his injuries worsened, things would only get worse.

Yang Kai knew he had to make use of the celestial phenomena.

No matter how treacherous and unpredictable those phenomena were, without harnessing their power, he would ultimately meet a dead end. Harnessing their power—he might still have a sliver of hope.

Having made up his mind, Yang Kai fled while scanning his surroundings.

Two months later, a vast expanse of blue appeared before him, shrouding a tremendous stretch of the void.

Yang Kai was momentarily stunned. Though he had witnessed many celestial phenomena by now, this was by far the most brilliantly colored, and its scale was enormously vast.

Being too far away, he couldn't tell what this phenomenon actually was and could only fly toward it with all his might.

The Ram-Headed Domain Lord pursuing from behind had obviously noticed it as well. He deduced Yang Kai's intention and intensified his chase, his speed surging suddenly under the驱动 of dense Ink Force.

Having learned his lesson from the Mist Phenomenon before, how could he dare let Yang Kai blunder into another one?

A sharp aura was rapidly closing in from behind. Yang Kai's expression shifted, and without hesitation, he hastily invoked the Laws of Space and teleported away.

The next instant, he tumbled out of the void, spitting a mouthful of fresh blood, and arrived right before the azure phenomenon.

Gazing upward, Yang Kai froze.

From afar, he had only known the phenomenon for its rich coloring, unaware of its true nature. But now, having drawn close, Yang Kai discovered that this azure phenomenon was actually a sea!

A sea situated in the midst of the vast void!

If someone had told him before that such a sea existed within the void, he would never have believed it. Yet now a true sea lay before his eyes.

There were simply too many unknown mysteries in this world.

The sea before him appeared like a dead sea—its waters frozen, without the slightest ripple. Yang Kai sensed no danger from it.

But his experience with the Mist Phenomenon told him that whether such phenomena were dangerous could never be judged by appearance alone. One had to venture inside to know.

Standing before the sea phenomenon, Yang Kai turned to look back. The Ram-Headed Domain Lord was hurtling toward him at tremendous speed, his expression anxious. Yang Kai's hesitation seemed to have caused some misunderstanding, for the Domain Lord transmitted his voice: "In your current state, venturing deep inside means certain death. Surrender yourself!"

Yang Kai grinned at him, turned his head to spit out a mouthful of blood-tinged phlegm, let out a curse under his breath, then spun around and plunged headlong into the sea without a second thought.

I'd rather die than die at your hands!

The Ram-Headed Domain Lord's expression shifted slightly—Yang Kai's decisiveness had exceeded his expectations.

A moment later, he too arrived before the sea phenomenon. After silently probing it, his whole body shuddered. Ink Force enveloped him as he charged in.

But he quickly burst back out, his expression dark and unsettled.

From the outside, the sea appeared calm and tranquil, without the slightest ripple. But once inside, one would discover that powerful undercurrents churned within—wave after wave intersecting and surging through the depths.

What alarmed the Ram-Headed Domain Lord was that these undercurrents were incredibly violent. Even a Domain Lord of his caliber found them somewhat unbearable.

In just three breaths, his Ink Force had been severely scoured away.

Fortunately, this sea phenomenon was not like the Mist Phenomenon. Before, once he had charged into the Mist Phenomenon, he had been unable to escape. Here, however, he could use his formidable strength to forcefully break free from the undercurrents' entanglement.

Having entered such a phenomenon, could that seventh-order human still be alive?

The Ram-Headed Domain Lord was certain Yang Kai was dead. Besides, the undercurrents within the sea shifted unpredictably—even if he went in, he might not be able to find Yang Kai's trail.

Hovering in the void, the Ram-Headed Domain Lord's expression shifted back and forth as he pondered for a long while before finally departing.

Not long after, he relocated a dead world to the outer perimeter of the sea phenomenon.

In the void, dead worlds were innumerable. Having pursued Yang Kai all this way, he had seen countless such worlds—finding one was no trouble at all.

This particular world was considerable in size, yet before the sea phenomenon, it was still like an ant before an elephant.

The Ram-Headed Domain Lord gazed deeply at the sea phenomenon one more time, then suddenly opened his mouth and spat. Dense, pure Ink Force gushed forth.

The Ink Force condensed without dissipating, quickly taking the shape of a flower bud about to bloom before him.

An Ink Nest!

Every one of the Domain Lords who had fought their way out of the Primordial Heaven Great Seal possessed an Ink Nest of their own. After all, Ink still harbored the hope that they would defeat the Human Race, conquer the Three Thousand Worlds, and then turn back to rescue It.

The Ink Nest was the very foundation of the Ink Clan. How could the Domain Lords not carry one with them?
