Although the cannon fodder now pouring out of the gap weren't particularly powerful individually, there were simply too many of them. Left unchecked, they would pose a genuine threat to the human race.
They had to be killed!
What surprised Yang Kai slightly was that many of the Mo Clan rushing out of the gap had taken the form of demon beasts.
This had never been observed before.
Throughout history, the Mo Clan appearing across the various war zones had always been diverse in form, but they had invariably used the human body as their framework. Pure demon beast forms had never emerged.
Yet here they were now — obviously created by Mo inside the Primordial Heaven Grand Restriction using the power of Mo in the later stages.
These Mo beasts weren't particularly strong, but their sheer numbers exceeded even those of the Mo Clan themselves. Upon death, they released vast quantities of Mo power from their bodies, shrouding the void.
The battle unfolded exactly as the humans had planned. Because Cang controlled the size of the gap in the Primordial Heaven Grand Restriction, only a limited number of Mo Clan could rush out at any given time. Under the combined assault of over a hundred strongholds, they could guarantee that every last one would die — as long as the attacks never faltered, there was no risk of the Mo Clan breaking through the defensive line.
A hundred thousand. Two hundred thousand. Three hundred thousand. Five hundred thousand…
Though nobody had been counting precisely, in just half a day the Mo Clan cannon fodder and Mo beasts pouring out of the gap had already reached one million.
Nearly all of them were annihilated the moment they cleared the gap, unable to even advance a single step.
Yet from the depths of that darkness, the torrent continued to surge outward without pause.
Yang Kai's scalp went numb just watching.
Over a million Mo Clan and Mo beasts — that was roughly equivalent to the total casualties of a large-scale battle. And this had happened in just half a day.
How many Mo Clan and Mo beasts were hidden inside the Primordial Heaven Grand Restriction?
How many servants had Mo created over the past million years?
Nobody knew the answer. Perhaps only Mo himself did.
Another half day passed, and another million-strong Mo army was wiped out.
Another half day, the same.
After several continuous days, nearly ten million Mo Clan and Mo beasts had perished in this stretch of void, and on the human side, apart from some formations and artifacts that had suffered damage from overuse, not a single casualty had been inflicted.
The results were staggering, yet nobody could bring themselves to celebrate.
Even after losing nearly ten million troops, Mo seemed utterly unconcerned, still dispatching only the lowest-tier cannon fodder. Not a single lower-rank Mo Clan had been spotted.
These slaughtered Mo Clan seemed to exist for the sole purpose of depleting the humans' strength, and the darkness beyond appeared to contain an infinite Mo army.
By now, everyone was beginning to sense that something was off.
Setting aside whether the Mo army was truly bottomless, maintaining this intensity of continuous formation and artifact activation wouldn't be sustainable for long — at most a month, and the human defensive line might collapse on its own. The Artifact Refiners and Formation Masters couldn't possibly repair everything fast enough. Once these formations and artifacts were gone, the human army would have to intercept the Mo Clan with their own bodies, and casualties would inevitably follow.
What struck everyone as most abnormal was that with over ten million Mo Clan dead, the void should by all rights have been saturated with the Mo power released by the fallen, transforming into a sea of Mo clouds long ago.
In every previous war, the death of Mo Clan had left behind vast quantities of Mo clouds. When enough died, the clouds would coalesce into a Mo sea.
Yet in reality, aside from the dense Mo power around the gap itself — which served to conceal its location — very little additional Mo power had spread outward.
Cang had evidently identified the problem as well. His booming voice rang in everyone's ears: "It's reclaiming the Mo power! Stop it, or its power will be infinite!"
Yang Kai's eyes widened in realization.
So that was why Mo had kept sending only cannon fodder — and why it hadn't cared about losing so many. The Mo power released upon their deaths could be reclaimed by Mo.
With the Mo power cycling endlessly, the battle could theoretically continue until the end of time.
The humans hadn't noticed because the scene around the gap was simply too chaotic — Mo Clan continuously涌出 being slaughtered, the Mo power shrouding the gap, concealing the traces of Mo reclaiming its strength.
Even Cang, stationed inside the Primordial Heaven Grand Restriction, had taken several days to discover it.
Upon hearing Cang's warning, the humans swiftly formulated a countermeasure. Small teams were dispatched from the major strongholds, rushing out toward the battlefield.
Before long, those teams deployed net-like artifacts, casting them over the battlefield. Each net ensnared large quantities of Mo power, which the teams then hauled away to distant locations and discarded.
These net-like artifacts had been developed specifically by the human side for clearing Mo power. They possessed some minor ability to restrain enemies, but not enough to be useful in actual combat against the Mo Clan.
They were, however, perfectly suited for cleaning up the battlefield.
Yang Kai had experienced his first major battle back at Biluo Pass, where Zhong Liang had dispatched him to clean up the battlefield as well — using these very same artifacts.
Nearly a thousand teams wove through the battlefield, continuously using the net artifacts to collect the Mo power released by the fallen Mo Clan. Yet the efficiency remained insufficient.
After all, once they collected the Mo power, they still had to transport it to distant locations for disposal. The back-and-forth wasted far too much time.
Yang Kai watched for a moment, then turned to the members of the Dawn Team standing beside him. "Give me all your extra spatial rings."
