Chapter 5376: Entering the King Lord's Ink Nest

January 17, 2020 · 6 min read · 1,122 words

After roaming the battlefield for a while longer, Yang Kai arrived near the Mo Clan's Royal City.

No one knew how many tens of thousands of years the Mo Clan's Royal City had stood. It could be said to be the very foundation of the Mo Clan in the Da Yan Theater, yet today, the floating continent where the Royal City sat was crumbling apart, and the city itself was nothing but broken walls and ruins.

The towering, colossal Ink Nests—some had collapsed, others had been completely destroyed. Those still intact could be counted on one hand.

Across the entire floating continent that housed the Royal City, there was not a trace of life.

The Mo Clan had suffered a crushing defeat. The dead were dead, the fleeing had fled, and the once-sprawling Royal City had become a completely empty shell—a dead silence.

Yang Kai paid no attention to the remaining Domain Lord-level Ink Nests. Instead, he went directly to the base of the King Lord-level Ink Nest.

This King Lord-level Ink Nest had been collapsed by a single strike of his. He had thought that meant it was destroyed, but in truth, it had not been completely obliterated.

Several Domain Lord-level Ink Nests still remained. If the King Lord-level Ink Nest had truly been destroyed, all of the Domain Lord-level Ink Nests would have perished along with it.

That was the unique symbiotic relationship between a higher-tier Ink Nest and its lower-tier ones.

Even though it had already collapsed, the King Lord-level Ink Nest was still enormous and imposing.

Yang Kai stood before the Ink Nest and observed it silently for a moment. Then, with a thought, he stepped forward.

He found the entrance to the Ink Nest and stepped inside.

The moment he entered, Yang Kai felt a surge of powerful energy coursing through the fleshy walls. It was easy to imagine that the Mo Clan's King Lord, in preparation for fighting Ancestor Xiao Xiao, must have stored a tremendous amount of energy within the Ink Nest so that he could draw upon it at any time.

If Yang Kai hadn't collapsed this Ink Nest, Ancestor Xiao Xiao would not have found it so easy to slay him.

Now, all that energy stored within the Ink Nest was useless. The King Lord was dead—who could possibly draw upon it?

certainly no one on the human side.

What a waste! Yang Kai grumbled inwardly. He had no idea how many resources the Mo Clan had expended to store all that energy—resources that could have been war spoils for the Da Yan warriors.

Because of the collapse, the passages within the Ink Nest were far from clear, with many blocked sections. However, Yang Kai didn't expend much effort carving out a path through.

Before long, he arrived beside the Ink Pool.

The internal structure of all Mo Clan Ink Nests was largely the same, differing only in scale. Yang Kai had seen the Ink Pool of a Lord-level Ink Nest, and he had seen those of Domain Lord-level Ink Nests as well. By comparison, the Ink Pool of this King Lord-level Ink Nest was undoubtedly larger.

If the Ink Pool of a Lord-level Ink Nest was a small puddle, then the Domain Lord-level one was a pond, and the King Lord's was a lake.

Within the Ink Pool, the power of Ink churned and surged, energy roiling with tremendous force.

All along the surrounding fleshy walls, numerous fleshy tumors squirmed, nurturing new lives of the Mo Clan within, poised as if they could burst free at any moment.

Yang Kai ignored them. Even if these Mo Clan were born, they would be nothing more than the lowest rank of the Mo Clan, posing no threat to humanity. A single Open Heaven Realm cultivator could annihilate them all.

What he wanted to find was the hub of the Ink Nest. Using the hub, he could survey the situation in the other theaters.

The Da Yan Theater had been thoroughly purged of the Mo Clan threat, but as for the situation in the other theaters, no one knew. Although humanity had prepared extensively for this grand battle and the Evil-Slaying Divine Lances were destined to shine brilliantly, the situation on any battlefield could change in an instant. Until definitive news arrived, no one could guarantee that the humans held the advantage in every theater.

There was certainly communication between the various passes, but those were exchanges among the humans themselves.

What Yang Kai wanted to know was how the Mo Clan communicated with each other right now. That would give a far more direct picture of the situation across all theaters.

By using this King Lord-level Ink Nest, he could absolutely gather some intelligence.

At this moment, he felt immensely grateful that he hadn't completely destroyed this King Lord-level Ink Nest back then. Otherwise, he really would have had no viable method.

Soon, Yang Kai found the hub of the Ink Nest.

At the place where the power of Ink surged most vigorously, Yang Kai found a spot and sat cross-legged.

Although he had previously entered the Ink Nest space within Lord-level and Domain Lord-level Ink Nests many times, this was his first time doing so through a King Lord-level Ink Nest.

Presumably, there shouldn't be any difference.

He opened his own Small Universe, allowing the Ink Nest to devour his World Force. Using that World Force as a bridge, he connected his mind to the will of the Ink Nest.

In the next instant, Yang Kai found himself in a vast space.

He did not manifest his Divine Soul spirit body. After all, he was human—his spirit body would be far too conspicuous. In a place teeming with Mo Clan, it would be far too easy to expose himself.

In this moment, his entire divine soul took the form of a simple sphere.

This form was nothing unusual. Many Mo Clan existed within the Ink Nest space in precisely this shape.

The moment he entered, Yang Kai sensed the chaotic fluctuations of divine sense all around him. Within that divine sense, he received wave after wave of messages.

"The humans are attacking with ferocious momentum. We don't know what new Artifact they've developed, but it radiates a pure light that is extremely suppressive against the power of Ink. The Domain Lords under King Lord Mo Bu have suffered devastating casualties."

"The Xuanyuan Theater is requesting reinforcements! Their armies have suffered catastrophic losses. Which King Lord can lead troops to assist?"

"The humans have reached the gates of the Royal City. The Royal City is in imminent danger…"

"The humans have gone mad—they've even brought their passes with them. The Qingming Theater can't hold!"
