The two continued on their way.
The Domain Lord's territory was not far. A day later, a silent and lifeless Profound World came into Yang Kai's field of vision. It was not a large world, but the entire thing was shrouded in the power of Ink, with one direction in particular being especially dense.
His gaze pierced through the obstruction, and he could vaguely make out an Ink Nest standing in that direction.
Around the Ink Nest, numerous Ink Clan members could be seen moving about.
Yang Kai led Miao Feiping directly toward the Ink Nest. Before they even reached it, Miao Feiping, on Yang Kai's signal, had already taken out an Ink Expulsion Pill and placed it under his tongue, ready to swallow at a moment's notice.
Though Yang Kai had the Purifying Light to protect him, Yang Kai himself would have matters to attend to next and wouldn't be able to watch over him the entire time. It was better to have an Ink Expulsion Pill prepared.
Yang Kai made no attempt to conceal himself. He tore straight through the barrier of the Ink power and crashed down near the Ink Nest like a meteor falling from the heavens. The earth shook violently as the powerful shockwave sent Ink Clan members flying in all directions. Those Ink Servants with weaker cultivation suffered countless casualties.
Two Domain Lord-level Ink Clan members who had been left to guard this territory sensed the disturbance and immediately rushed out from their respective dwellings.
These two Domain Lords were not necessarily the owners of this place. The Ink Clan had a great number of Domain Lord-level powerhouses, but those who actually possessed their own territories were relatively few. Under each Domain Master, there were at most only a few dozen to a hundred Domain Lords qualified to have territories of their own. Those who did have territories were invariably wealthy and formidable.
Those without territories would either find a random spot within the Domain Master's domain to settle in, or they would attach themselves to those who did have territories.
This way, they could leverage the Ink power generated by the Ink Nest to enhance their own strength and aim for a breakthrough.
This was a common occurrence among the Ink Clan. A mature Domain Lord's territory did not house just one Domain Lord—though the Ink Nest always belonged solely to the one who had spawned it.
The two guarding Domain Lords charged out and, upon catching sight of Yang Kai and Miao Feiping, both paused for a brief moment.
Humans?
Humans had come here?
What was going on?
It wasn't as though there had never been instances of humans attacking Ink Clan territories before, but every time, it had been with a massive army—never just two people.
And so when they saw Yang Kai and Miao Feiping, the two Domain Lords instinctively assumed a human army had arrived. But after carefully scanning their surroundings and finding no other humans, it truly appeared to be just these two.
The Domain Lord on the left immediately bellowed, "Audacious humans! How dare you deceive me!"
The one on the right was more taciturn but acted with the speed of wind. While his companion was still shouting, he was already hurtling toward Yang Kai. Ink power surged across his enormous palm as he brought it crashing down.
Miao Feiping scrambled to dodge. Though he had killed two High-order Ink Clan members, he knew this level of battle was not something he could interfere in.
He retreated over a hundred zhang before turning back to look. What he saw shook him to his core.
His martial uncle stood with a spear clutched in one hand, the weapon driven clean through the skull of the charging Domain Lord. The ferocious Domain Lord's face was frozen in disbelief, his body rigid.
With a flick of the spear, the Domain Lord's head exploded into dust. The massive body toppled with a thunderous crash, and dark Ink blood spurted from the severed neck like a fountain.
Instant kill!
Miao Feiping could hardly believe his eyes—a Domain Lord-level Ink Clan member had been killed in an instant by his martial uncle!
He hadn't even noticed his martial uncle deploying any powerful secret techniques. It seemed like nothing more than a casual thrust of the spear, and the Ink Clan Domain Lord's life had been snuffed out. A Domain Lord that Miao Feiping would have considered utterly impossible to contend with was as weak and helpless as a little chick before his martial uncle.
On the way here, the members of the Dawn Squad had told him that their captain's combat prowess was extraordinary, far beyond a typical Seventh-Order cultivator, and that he had even coordinated with others to slay an Ink Clan Domain Master while being outmatched in rank.
Hearing it secondhand was nothing compared to seeing it with his own eyes.
He finally understood the weight behind that assessment of extraordinary prowess.
This was more than just extraordinary—this was unrivaled!
By rank, a Domain Lord-level Ink Clan member was equivalent to a Seventh-Order human cultivator. Though under normal circumstances they were somewhat weaker than their human counterparts, they were still operating within that tier. Even so, this one had been killed in the blink of an eye under his martial uncle's spear.
What level had his martial uncle's combat strength truly reached?
Miao Feiping didn't know, and now was not the time to dwell on such thoughts. A number of Ink Clan members were already closing in from all around. He brandished his long sword, deployed his movement technique, and began fighting his way through the enemy.
